Sunday Bum

Boy am I a bum today!! I slept until 9:00. I’ve enjoyed sleeping in, but I really do better when I set an alarm!

I didn’t end up eating breakfast until almost 9:45 –

So you know that obscene song from SNL where Justin Timberlake sings about his present in a box? Well every time I think about "oats in a jar" I now sing it to that tune in my head!!! AHHH. Make it stop. [And I'm sorry if I have now corrupted your brains too]

IMG_9437 (640x427)

  • 1/4 cup 9-grain cereal, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tiny banana
  • Lots of Maranatha AB (~2 tbsp left in the jar?)
  • Mix My Granola on top

I haven’t had chandelier coffee in ages! The blur of my lens diluted it some, but the flava was still there ;)

I’m meeting Kate for spinning at 1:30 and then we’re going to drink green juice together!

Until then…

Spinning + green juice sounds amazing! I’m visiting my parents for the week and will be without a gym (and no access to Whole Foods/health foods!). I shall have to improvise :-)

I feel the same way about sleeping in. It kind of throws off my whole day.

It cracks me up to think of that song for oats in a jar. I am now corrupted.

Mmm I have a jar of Maranatha almond butter that’s getting low and I can’t wait to put it to good use :)

Thank you for helping me with the camera info a few weeks ago! It was my 18th birthday yesterday and I got it!! I cannot wait to experiment with my Canon.

That song has already polluted anything that comes in a box, might as well extend it to jars ;)

Hahaha Kath, I am so glad you think that about oats in a jar. I think the same exact thing! Hilarious.

I’d say that’s brain corruption in a GOOD way… oats in a jar! Now it’s just THAT much more fun to think about hahah.
Speaking of setting alarms, I actually DID set mine today. Wanted to get right to productivity bright and early. Bright and early as in I got up at 9 too :)

Hahaha. Yep, now everytime I think of oats in a jar…. “It’s my Oats in Jar”.
Ha. much better than way.

Did you see the follow-up video to that SNL skit on youtube – called “My box in a box.” Classic!
I wouldn’t stress too much about waking up at 9am. Everyone deserves a sleep in day now and again.
Tomorrow will be my first attempt at Oats-N-A-Jar – I finished a jar of Better N’ Peanut Butter (pretty amazing stuff, if you haven’t tried it). I’m pretty stoked – all of your jar oat concoctions look yummy!

One time I had the song “Apple-Bottom Jeans” stuck in my head while cooking, and the next thing I knew, I was singing, “Copper-bottom pans…Pan with the copper on its bottom” hahahaha. I love those songs!

I love how waking up at 9 am is sleeping in, Kath. That’s awesome, haha. I think college ruined by ability to wake up before 9. Have you always been an early riser or did it develop over time?

I love that you use a big bowl of fruit as a centerpiece on your table. I do that too, usually with some local apples since i live in New York. The colors are so pretty and you can eat them– win win!

LOL at “oats in a jar” That was the best SNL skit ever!

It’s funny how relative “sleeping in” is! For me, in college, sleeping in was 11 or noon. Now, I am ecstatic if I get to sleep past 7! Friday night, I got to bed late (also relative, lol) at around midnight, and slept until 8:30 (thanks to my hubby for keeping the kids quiet!). It was heavenly!

Alison,
My first semester of college I didn’t have class until 11:30 and I would stay up until 2-3AM studying and playing and sleep until 10 everyday. That said, I’ve always been a morning person, so it’s easy for me to be an early riser. I hate sleeping away the day! (I also hate sleeping in general, but I do require 7-8 hours or I am a grouch.)
