Stuffed Crust

August 2, 2011

Hot pink + silver – party rock!

[They were both Essie – I never look at the color names!]

I continued the hot pink theme with a watermelon snack before I left for dance today

Last week we did flowy lyrical-style music to the dance piece we’re building in Faith’s class. This week we did JAZZ! And there were gymnastics involved!! Handstands! [Did you know I can walk on my hands pretty well!?] I was in a pretty frazzled mood when I left for dance and came home cheerful!

I had an hour until Matt arrived for pizza making, so I poured myself a green cocktail. It tasted SO good I couldn’t help but chug it!!

I assembled everything for dinner except the pizza crust, which was en route!

Tomato + cucumber salad – because those are the only veggies in the house!! I smothered them in Garlic Gold Lemon Vinaigrette – instant amazing flavor!

And then there was pizza

Stuffed crust pizza!!

Not officially, but Matt made a 50% whole wheat dough with Cheddar Garlic and I just happened to get a cheddar nugget in my slice!

All two pieces I devoured were heavenly

More hot pink melon came out for dessert! I can’t seem to end a night without it these days. 50% for flavor, 50% for hydration!

Goodnight my friends!

I got a pedi today, and I think our toes are the same color! :) I love the silver and pink combination!

These great pictures have me craving pizza like CRAZY now. Have a good night!

I always hear about Essie and I’m guessing it’s a great brand! wow I can’t believe you can walk on your hands!!

3 Hillary August 2, 2011 at 8:36 pm

1. Essie is my jam. I’ve been wearing Turquoise and Caicos for over two months now.
2. What is on that pizza? It looks absolutely heavenly. Can Matt, like, ship me some dough? ; )

4 KathEats August 2, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Green peppers, mom’s tomato sauce and pepperjack!

5 Laura @ Cookies vs. Carrots August 2, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Looks like a yummy meal! Love the silver nail polish! I usually go clear on my fingernails, but the silver is really cute!

6 Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine August 2, 2011 at 8:42 pm

Ahhh sadly I read this post with two hours to go until dinner! I am now officially starving, and all I want is pizza! :)

7 Laura August 2, 2011 at 8:43 pm

aw man, you gotta start looking at the color names… they are so funny!! especially OPI names… also, are you going to sell premade pizzas that are refrigerated ready for baking at home like whole foods does? i think you could make a KILLING, especially with unique crusts such as the cheddar one featured above! i’m sure your ideas minds are runnin wild with things you could sell, but i bet this would be a smashing success!! just curious….

8 KathEats August 2, 2011 at 9:02 pm

We probably won’t do pizza – it’s much much more complicated than it seems to do hot food like that! And I’m not sure that it would be cost efficient to keep our ovens running through noon.

9 Laura August 2, 2011 at 9:10 pm

oh nooo that’s not what I meant. that wouldn’t be cost effective. I meant prepping the pizzas raw for customers to purchase like that (kind of like a frozen pizza, but fresh) already with various toppings… but completely cold and then you go home and heat and serve….

10 KathEats August 2, 2011 at 9:12 pm

Ahhhh. A possibility, but I think just selling the dough would be a great option! Gotta get matt to do that..

11 AlliE August 2, 2011 at 8:45 pm

Hey Kath- all this dance talk makes me think..I’d love to see you doing the nappytabs routine! You should post a video!

12 KathEats August 2, 2011 at 9:02 pm

Haha. I don’t think I could!! SO embarassing

13 Kate (What Kate is Cooking) August 2, 2011 at 8:46 pm

Stuffed crust is the best! Something so delightful about oozy cheese when you’re not expecting it :)

14 Holly @ The Runny Egg August 2, 2011 at 8:48 pm

That pizza looks incredible. I usually prefer thin crust, but a big thick crust sounds good right about now.

15 Gloria Schiralli August 2, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Mmmm what a delicious, perfect dinner!!! Pizza is my all time fave food, and i make cucumber tomatoe salads regularly!! If you have anymore tomatoes, you should make some bruschetta and top it on any of your toasted GH bread!

16 Jennifer August 2, 2011 at 8:56 pm

That pizza looks amazing!!!! I can’t even imagine how that crust must taste. Ugh!! Why couldn’t that have been my dinner. :) Love the nail polish colors you chose, especially the silver.

17 Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio August 2, 2011 at 8:58 pm

Yay for your day off!! Super cute mani and pedi, woop woop!

I made pizza from scratch tonight too. I just love pizza :) and it always impresses my boyfriend which I love even more!

18 Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance August 2, 2011 at 9:06 pm

You should film yourself doing some cool dance moves that you’ve learned 😉

19 lynn @ the actor's diet August 2, 2011 at 9:08 pm

stuffed crust pizza – love. in LA there’s a bunch of korean pizza places that stuff it WITH SWEET POTATO MOUSSE.

i’m not lying:

20 Margo @ Peanut Butter Trees August 2, 2011 at 9:12 pm

That pizza looks awesome! As does your nail polish!

21 rumfunandsun August 2, 2011 at 9:15 pm

The nails look pretty pretty!!!

The dinner looks awesome as well!!! I really miss doughy pizza, since I had to go Gluten Free that is something that isn’t replaced or at least hasn’t been so far!

22 Shayla @ The Good Life August 2, 2011 at 9:16 pm

That pizza is party rock! 😉 looks delish and love the nail color, hot!

23 Angel7 August 2, 2011 at 9:20 pm

Premade pizzas at the bakery would be a great idea! I think they would be a hit! I would surely buy them if I lived near a Great Harvest.

24 Jennifer August 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm

OMG that pizza looks sooo good! Can you post a recipe? I really want to get into the habit of making my own pizza’s rather than buying greasy delivery pizza!

25 KathEats August 2, 2011 at 9:28 pm
26 Bee Goes Bananas August 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm

Oooh pretty nails! I wish my nails were shaped nicely so I can paint them. My nails are so short!

27 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) August 2, 2011 at 9:23 pm

Essie polish is the best!!

28 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table August 2, 2011 at 9:30 pm

Oh, the joys of bakery ownership! :)

Have you ever added melon to your tomato salads? I love to do that with a sprinkle of a salty cheese (like feta or cotija). So good!

29 Hannah August 2, 2011 at 9:34 pm

I’ve been thinking about my complete lack of interest in pizza, and I must say it comes down to soggy Domino’s and Eagle Boys experiences. Really must try making it myself!

30 Stef @ Living HI August 2, 2011 at 9:37 pm

The pizza looks amazing. I wonder if your shoulders will be sore tomorrow. Whenever I do random spurts of handstands or back handsprings I can feel it the next day, and it really just reminds me that I need more upper body strength! Must do Body Pump.

31 CheezyK August 2, 2011 at 9:38 pm

I will admit it, I am suffering from serious pizza envy! I made one on Monday night after your posts last week and although it tasted great it didn’t look anywhere near as nice as yours do :( Was definitely MUCH better than the ones we’ve bought lately though so I’ll count it as a win.

32 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) August 2, 2011 at 9:43 pm

That pizza looks amazing! Watermelon is the perfect treat for this weather! Enjoy your evening Kath!

33 Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife August 2, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Pretty nails!! Yummy pizza. Perfect night, much?! 😉

34 Liz @ Something To Chew On August 2, 2011 at 9:45 pm

I’m so jealous of all the deliciousness happening in this post!

35 kaila @ healthyhelper August 2, 2011 at 9:46 pm

I LOVE ESSIE! But its so darn expensive where I live…..ugh…I wish I could buy it more often! Love those colors!

36 Gina @ Running to the Kitchen August 2, 2011 at 9:48 pm

I’ve never had stuffed crust pizza! Yours looks good!

37 Liz @ Tip Top Shape August 2, 2011 at 9:54 pm

Oh wow, that pizza looks absolutely decadent!!! Love that nail polish color, too. Don’t know I would rock silver but it looks really good on you!

38 J3nn(Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) August 2, 2011 at 9:59 pm

You got the winning slice!! Looks yummy. So does the tomato salad. :)

39 Laura @ Unchartered 20s August 2, 2011 at 10:05 pm

Those tomatoes & cukes look so fresh and yummy!!

40 Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga August 2, 2011 at 10:06 pm

Nice nails! Lookin’ good there Kath. You’re all primped up and ready to go for San Diego now. Shoes, wallet, nails. Check!

Tomato + cucumber salad = nothin’ wrong. I could eat one every day. And pretty much do!

41 Namaste Gurl August 2, 2011 at 10:09 pm

How lucky you are to have somebody make you homemade and whole- grain veggie pizza! I’m WAY jealous :)
I had spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce inspired by YOU

42 cassie August 2, 2011 at 10:26 pm

your pizza looks amazingly delicious :-) i love essie..they have great names.. this summer i’m really loving their mint candy apple color.

43 Anna (twelve22) August 2, 2011 at 10:27 pm

Ha! My nails are silver, too, and I held my hand up to compare the color to yours, and then I realized that our fingers/nails are very similarly shaped. Hand twins! And that pizza looks awesome.

44 [email protected] August 2, 2011 at 10:39 pm

Wow! that pizza looked great!

Lol, great shot of your nails – cute polish.

45 Cait's Plate August 2, 2011 at 10:42 pm

LOVE the nails.

I had pizza tonight too – but yours looks way better. I need a Matt to make me that pizza dough!

46 Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats August 2, 2011 at 10:50 pm

Pizza is the key to my heart. lol. :)

47 Kiran @ August 2, 2011 at 11:44 pm

Nothing ends the day better than a mani pedi and watermelons. That pizza looks divine!

48 Kat August 3, 2011 at 12:28 am

That salad looks amazing but I can’t open the link to the vinagriette recipe. HELP!

49 KathEats August 3, 2011 at 7:30 am

Hey Kat –
I fixed the link. It’s actually not a recipe but a delicious roasted garlic oil with lemon and herbs. You can find it at stores like Whole Foods.

50 Khushboo August 3, 2011 at 12:44 am

I need a bread-making husband asap! Dinner looks delicious as always!

51 Lexi @ A Spoonful of Sunshine August 3, 2011 at 2:27 am

Pizza + watermelon pretty much embodies my idea of the perfect summer dinner. So so so good!

52 Hannah August 3, 2011 at 2:51 am

That pizza looks amazing :) I can’t imagine how tough opening a bakery would be, hope you guys are looking after yourself!

53 jenna k August 3, 2011 at 4:02 am

silver is my favorite color, and that’s the prettiest silver polish i’ve seen!
i made pizza dough for the first time last night, and it turned out SO good. all your talk of pizza had me craving it like crazy!

54 Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me August 3, 2011 at 5:49 am

Holy pizza! That looks absolutely divine!

55 Lauren @ What Lauren Likes August 3, 2011 at 6:25 am

Love essie nail polish! that silver one rocks! so does watermelon haha :)

56 Mom August 3, 2011 at 6:25 am

No, I did not know that you can walk on your hands but that must be how the Bears learned.

We’ll have to plan a family beach trip so you (and they) can demonstrate.

57 Alaina August 3, 2011 at 7:00 am

I love thick, doughy pizza! Makes me want to curl up in it and sleep. 😛

58 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin August 3, 2011 at 7:06 am

I ordered pizza out at a restaurant last night, but it didn’t look nearly as good as yours!

59 Molly @ RDexposed August 3, 2011 at 7:18 am

That crust is looking mighty good! (It’s really all about the crust!)

60 Kristen, Sweetly August 3, 2011 at 7:28 am

Cute toenails, lady! You look ready for the party. :p Stuffed crust was my absolute favorite. I feel like I’d skip cheese on the rest of the pizza if it meant it could be baked in around the edges.

61 Nikki August 3, 2011 at 7:33 am

Your nails are stinkin’ adorable. And, as always, your guys’ pizza looks incredible. Despite it being 8:30 am, I really want pizza right.this.instant.

Have a great day!

62 [email protected] Flying ONION August 3, 2011 at 7:38 am

Stuffed crusts? I am drooling! 😀

And your nails are adorable. The colors mesh together so well! 😀

63 Caitlin August 3, 2011 at 7:43 am

Holy yum- i’m drooling. Now I want pizza for breakfast :)

64 Hope August 3, 2011 at 7:47 am

I love your polish colors! I have hot pink on my toes now as well! :)

Love dinner! Stuffed crust pizza? Sign me up! :)

65 Stephanie August 3, 2011 at 9:19 am

Love that silver polish!! I’m trying to stop biting my nails and will be using that color as mental motivation! :)

66 Kori August 3, 2011 at 9:57 am

Your nails look so pretty! Great choice of colors. :) The pizza is so incredibly mouth-watering! Yum yum.

67 Nicole August 3, 2011 at 12:58 pm

I have been dying to make pizza for a couple of weeks now! I’ve had all the fixin’s ready to go, but we never seem to be able to fit it into our schedule. You have convinced me that it’s now or never! :)

68 Sarah Lienard August 3, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Ahh that pizza and that salad could go in my tummy right now… looks so so yummy!

69 Jennifer August 3, 2011 at 5:35 pm

1. Today is National Watermelon Day (says the ADA).
2. I’m pregnant during the hottest summer on record so there is ALWAYS watermelon in our house. It’s so sweet but I feel chronically dehydrated so it’s really nice to eat something for hydration instead of drinking my 80th glass of water for the day!

And the pizza looks AMAZING!
