Our evening began with an early dinner at a uber cool Latin restaurant called Rayuela.
Swankin’ it up!
Our table shared some vino
And enjoyed mint chocolate chip ice cream… I mean, olive butter to spread on rolls!
I had the Paella Verde for my entrée – a mix of clams, shrimp and conch over rice with a cilantro-parsley sauce. Totally hit the spot!! I need to make a green sauce this week!
Matt’s fish was excellent too – and came with chorizo quinoa
We planned our dinner location and hotel just a short walk from tonight’s party venue – Canada’s friend Hart lives in the heart of SoHo in an awesome loft with this view:
By the time I left, it was shoulder-to-shoulder filled
The loft space’s floor was see-through and very cool!
We sipped
And swigged
Huge Davidson reunion going on!
Larbs is here too! [We miss you Matt!]
Cannoli by candlelight – the best I’ve ever had from a Long Island bakery (not sure which one). It tasted like a donut!
My portion of the night just ended with a double birthday cake – Red Velvet with amazing fluffy cream cheese icing – and a hundred voices singing “Happy Birthday” to Canada and Matt!
Classiest slice of cake ever – served in a cup.

Great Harvest Convention at the end of Feb – in San Diego! And a week at the beach this summer. Otherwise, nothing else planned!
Love the Canadian Flag portraits! I am assuming Canada is Canadian? Your seafood extravaganza with green sauce looks amazing! What a cool loft! Happy Birthday Matt and Canada!

Camparing a fabulous cannoli to a donut? Madone!
Italian for OH my God!, or are you kidding me? LOL
Haha – I meant it as a totally delicious compliment. Refined powdery sweet cloud!
All these mentions of ‘Canada’ made me have to re-read your posts to see if you really are in Canada (and if you were, I’d be super excited!!) but even though you’re not, it still looks like you had a great time! And I absolutely LOVE your sister’s dress!
Love Rayuela! Glad you got to try it. The view from that apartment is AMAZING! Definitely a little nicer than mine
I love NYC! I’m so jealous you guys are there now…I think I may have to move back some day…
do it!!!
That loft and view make me wish I had lived in the city so badly just for a year to get it out of my system. I think that’s something I will always regret in life! Looks like an awesome time!
Why have I never had paella before?? This is embarrassing-I’m a dietitian and minors in Spanish. Need to get on the paella.
Your night looks awesome! Seems like this is a great trip. Any night ending in red velvet cake is a win in my book.
Your husband and I are bday twins! Happy birthday to Matt! Enjoy the rest of your trip
Happy Birthday!
How amazing! I’ve never been to a big city like New York – it looks so beautiful.
I hope no one wore heels on that loft!
Love the view from the loft. Gorgeous! Red Velvet Cake is so good that it doesn’t matter what it is served in. I might even eat it off the floor…5 second rule!
What a swanky place! Looks like you had a great time.
The red velvet cake – I’m dying – so pretty!! Everything is better in a cup anyway, in my opinion! =)
Quite the view! Looks like fun was had by all
That restaurant looks absolutely beautiful. Lighting really is everything
