I have a habit of checking the yard when I wake up to see what might have happened during the night. Things like trees down, flowers blooming or snowfall. I used to stare into our backyard in our houses in Charlotte and Fry’s Spring to check the weather, skies, snow on the grass before I got going on my day. Our new house’s bedroom faces the front, so I check the grass quickly and then later in depth off the back porch when I take my breakfast photos.
But here is the yard it all started in!! No snow on the ground, but I hear some is on the way…
I slept with Ducky last night, who is my sister’s duck she got Easter 1991. You can see his youthful appearance in this post. He is an upsidedown bathmat!
But these two, Daffy and Pistachio, (also Larbs’s) wanted in as well. It might have been a bit crowded with all three (although Larbs used to sleep that way!). But I suspect they would make great maternity pillows!?
We have some crazy animals in this house, and funny thing is that they all still live here and Larbs and I do not!
Breakfast this AM was a yogurt mix. I was thrilled to find greek yogurt in the fridge! My mom has gotten hooked at my dad’s wallet’s disappointment.
- 1 container greek yogurt
- Strawberries (which I brought from home! Sad thing is that somebody cut onions on the wooden cutting board and didn’t scrub it so my strawberries tasted like onions. I still ate them because they were expensive and delicious underneath)
- Half banana
- Drizzle honey
- Cinnamon
- Nuttzo!

I am here in Hillsborough to head to Sarah’s baby shower today! Hoping to take notes on all the baby gear : )

Haha my room is just about the same as when I left for college, stuffed animals and all! However, my parents are thinking of downsizing soon… I hope they plan on taking my stuff with them because it sure won’t fit in my studio right now!
I’m with you – I’m terrified of my parents moving to a smaller house and having to pack up all of my stuff that’s still there; I don’t want to store all of that!
love that your parents have everything ready for a perfect breakfast!
That so sweet your parent save those stuffed animals! I used to have a koala that I loved to the point of destruction – I think even his little plastic nose fell off.
Have a great time at the shower!
I have a curious question. In your RD studies, did you ever come across such a thing as an oat intolerance?
Hmmm…not specifically. Gluten, yes, and the other wheat related diseases, but not oats in particular.
Haha Peter recently admitted to loving 2% Greek yogurt. They don’t sell it at Costco though and his wallet does not buy yogurt anywhere else
. I can’t make it to Sarah’s shower today. Take lotsa photos, please!
Visits home are so comforting
Love all the childhood stuff. And I do the same thing of looking outside as soon as I roll out of bed to see what weather I’ll have to face during the day!
“At your dad’s wallet disappointment”… Haha I love it! Story of my parents’ life!
I have been loving yogurt bowls lately! Can’t get enough with a little cottage cheese stirred in. Gives it great texture!
I am forever hooked on greek yogurt, but I’m forced to save it for special occasions (so $$$!!!). You’re making me think I may need to pick up a tub though…breakfast looks delicious!
Ah that’s so annoying about the strawberries- we have a separate cutting board for fruit at home just for that reason!
My mom has turned the guest room in my house that I grew up in into a doll room. Seriously…it’s filled with dolls and it’s the freakiest thing you can imagine. I guess they keep her company now that my brother and I are gone?
I’m with your mom! My dolls never tell me I need to update the house, and they don’t seem overly worried about nutrition, mine or theirs.
My mom has moved since I’ve lived with her so none of my stuff is in “my” room. Sad.
Lillis billis photo pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!! She is the worlds only adorable cat!
Ugh I hate making that mistake and cutting fruit on a garlic or onion infused cutting board!!
I love all of the stuffed animals
I wish I kept more of my stuffed animals from childhood.
Have fun at the shower. I’m sure you’ll get lots of ideas and also get super excited!!!
I still sleep with my childhood blank.ie…i mean blanket.
Wow, that duck sure has had its fair share of love over the years
What a difference 20 years of love can make!
I love the vintage stuffed animal pics! I wonder what ever happened to my massive collection… Probably in my parents’ attic or something.
Have a great time with your family the rest of the day!
Larbs leaves them? I am a sad 25 year old that still totes mine around to wherever I’m staying. College and spring break included. They really do make good pillows!
That breakfast looks delicious – but what is nuttzo? I’m intrigued!
It’s a super crunchy multi nut butter!

It’s funny- I have practically no clutter in our new home- but my poor parents have to deal with all of my childhood stuff that I can’t bring myself to get rid of!
I used to sleep with a million stuffed animals too, it made my bed really cozy
Ugh, onion and garlic flavor seeped into everything is the bane of my existence because I never scrub anything quite properly. I actually got a separate cutting board.
While reading the Sunday paper I came across this comic and thought you’d get a kick out of it. http://www.gocomics.com/adamathome/
Hahah cute!
Aww my mom and dad still have a bunch of our stuff too. I’ve actually stopped using tupperware because of the onion/garlic smells. I use ball jars instead.
I got my mom hooked on greek yogurt, too. It’s just so much better than the other stuff!
Hey Kath!
I just wanted to post here to say “hi” and give a huge “thanks” for your breakfast photos. You’ve revolutionized my breakfast for sure. I’ve been on a weight loss journey that turned into me being an avid runner. Over 75 pounds later, I’m training for my first marathon after several smaller races and my body needs fuel. I used to eat some pretty boring stuff. But now, its “everything in a bowl” and its *awesome*! Just wanted to leave a quick “thanks” for this inspiration every morning in case these sorts of posts get boring.
Thanks so much for your comment Kyle! And congrats on your awesome weight loss!
The thought of slightly onion infused strawberries does not sound good, especially since I am pregnant
However, I know what you mean when you say you did not want to waste them, because I would not want to waste them or any other food either.

Oh, I am with you on that cutting board situation – that has happened to me far too many times. The wood cutting boards are especially difficult to scrub tastes out of. Blech. (I always eat them anyways too
)
It’s snowing in Blacksburg so I’m sure it’s snowing in C-Ville!
I’m not there to see it
But it looks pretty nice from the photos!
My entire house (including my room) is exactly the same at home as well. I kinda love it
Have fun today!
omg! i had that duck too!
Isn’t it amazing when you go home and find a surprising healthy snack! My parents have also started using greek yogurt versus the old Dannon or Yoplait.
What sweet pictures. I love “going home”.
I remember a tiger stuffed animal that I dearly loved as a child. I wish I still had him (although that was over 35 years ago, lol. He would probably be just dust and threads by now…)
My wallet hates greek yogurt too
Haters gonna hate…
Have fun today!
My wallet may hate greek yogurt but my taste buds love it and this is one battle that my taste buds (and health), will win!
I hate when that happens with onions-can’t stand them!
Sounds like fun! I love the willow ware mug!
