There’s just something amazing about going from 695 to I-70 to 29N to 495 to I-66 and then all of a sudden getting off on the Cville exit to this:
No more traffic, construction or brake lights. Just fields and 1.5 hours of pleasant driving left to go.
Matt and I rolled right into Whole Foods since our fridge was totally bare. I decided on hot bar and filled half my plate with veggies (and beans), 1/4 with BBQ chicken and tofu and 1/4 with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. I’m still not totally acquainted with my new stomach and passed a good 1/3 of this over to Matt to finish. The mac n cheese was by far the best thing on the plate : )
My favorite Honest Tea for refreshment
Everything seems to be going through a growth spurt ‘round here!
We are all unpacked, fed and relaxing for the rest of the night!
And almost forgot to say HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all of the fathers in my life!! Just gave Matt a hilarious onesie – to be seen soon!

That looks so beautiful! Whole Foods is totally my go-to when my fridge is empty. I usually end up loading up on the salad bar and the yummy soups
Looks like you enjoyed a fun picnic shared by two! Your veggie garden looks great!
WF mac and cheese is SOOOO GOOD!
I really envy your salad bounty
Pumpkin photobomb!
The Best !
Growth spurt…I think so! You look fabulous and I love the greens and blues and pretty “cool” colors in the middle of summer!
whoa baby! you’re really growin’!!
I actually just ate my first actual meal at Whole Foods recently (I had gotten gelato there once before). I got Chicken Satay from the Asian counter, and it was amazing. I would eat more meals there if it wasn’t so expensive. I get why people call it Whole Paycheck Foods.
Mac & cheese sounds awesome – I bet hot bar was a great idea since you could pick around the various options and see what tasted good and sat well in your stomach. You look so adorable in the garden picture!!
I remember my palate being completely different when pregnant. It was interesting. I hated mushrooms at that time. It took me three months to incorporate them again back into my diet without feeling weird.
You are so pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good idea to go straight to Whole Foods after a weekend away. I always struggle with what to eat whenever we get home from a trip and there is no food in the fridge. We usually end up with takeout from the chinese place around the corner, but your plate looked much more exciting than my usual chicken, veggies and rice. Hope you enjoyed your weekend wedding and your “growing” belly looks beautiful.
what are the tall plants behind you in the picture?
Tomatoes!
Kath – my sister and I are coming the second week of July to tour Polyface farm. Will be staying in Cville a couple of nights and would love to meet up with you and any other local bloggers!!
I think miss smart kitchen is working on an outing
I’m free the 11 th
Your garden looks gorgeous! And I spot a little furry friend playing hide-and-seek in your garden…
You look so adorable!
I love that Honest Tea flavor, too. You know who else loves it? Barack Obama. I remember hearing during the 2008 campaign that his advance team always made sure that it was stocked.
You look amazing! Grow baby grow!
WF Mac & Cheese is the best!
Oh I can not WAIT to get back to the States and see these wide open spaces again, you truly made my heart ache for home today…not in a bad way, just in a I-totally-appreciate-space after being smooshed with millions of Koreans in Seoul!! Keep those breath taking photos a-coming! And, I ADORE the sprouts with your sprouting belly…too charming!
Haha I ate from the whole foods hot bar twice this weekend, it’s just so good!
I am swooning over those tomato plants…I just bought several pounds of heirlooms from the farmer’s market and had dreams last night of how to best use those glorious fruit/vegetables. I don’t touch them for 8 months of the year, but during peak season, they are unbeatable!
(Love the photo of you showing off your own growth in the garden!
I love Honest Tea!
Even the vegan with benefits that I am (and even at 8:22 AM) is salivating a little bit over that BBQ plate…
Your garden looks great!! I’m jealous!
whole foods is my favorite place to eat. there i said it.
Safely home always feels good!
I just got some Honest ade Pomegranate Blue at the grocery store over the weekend. I have never tried the Honest ade before, but I have tried the Honest Tea.

What a great Father’s Day weekend. We escaped our bakery too. A camping trip with lots of good eats. For the first time, I actually blogged my whole trip, I was inspired by you. Thanks Kath!
I love that cat Pumpkin, and she really seems to love you too. It makes me smile when she makes an appearance on your posts.
Following 29 from Virginia all the way into Charlotte looks a lot like that too! Love all the farm and open fields and tree lined paths.
Your photo of the garden makes me want one in my back yard. I do have a nice herb patch but no veggies this year.
Your dinner from Whole Foods looks delicious! I love their hot bar! AH! Your bump is getting huge!!! YAY!
Dang, Whole Foods knows how to make a good meal. Looks like something straight from a backyard BBQ. Yummy.
Yikes…lots of Julies reading your blog!
I was at WF today and tried Honest tea for second time thanks to you. First time I tried it was too tart for me. This time I tried peach ooh-la-oolong…loved it. I would love to try the berry one you had (winnie the pooh on there was cute), but they didn’t have it. I think the organic factor plus low amounts of natural sugar are awesome!
I loooove WF but wish that my hot bar plate wouldn’t usually cost more than a cart of groceries
