G’evening it was! Summery warm with not too many bugs.
This afternoon was spent on the porch, working and snacking. I pulled a Hungry Bar out from my freezer!
At 6:30, we hopped on the bikes (still glad to be biking again, still nervous about it) and biked over to Faith + Tate’s for dinner!
We had a glorious time and talked way past our bedtimes. Reminded me of the first time Faith invited us over for pumpkin soup in the blog comments!

Tonight:
Not much has changed! (Except a lot less vino drinking lately…)
I sipped sparkling water with lime and mint instead
These guys are the craftiest and handiest friends I know. They build anything! From the deck a few photos up to endless edible gardens to surfboard chairs!
Our whole salad came from the garden!
Faith made black bean corn tacos for dinner, with one of her famous salads.
Piled high with veggies, a lively salsa, greek yogurt and cheese
After the sun set, Faith snuck inside and whipped up some banana soft serve a la Gena’s recipe topped with melted coconut butter magic shell. Heavenly!

That sounds like a lovely evening!
Mmm, that soft serve looks delish! I make it at home alll the time. Have a wonderful week!
I love that surf chair! And their garden. Its so awesome to eat from farm to table. And I love that water with lime and mint. Sounds so refreshing!
That is beyond awesome that the entire salad came from their garden! Very inspiring. And I’m sure it was delicious!
Love those tacos, so many veggies, and the dessert looks from a restaurant!
I love how you make your non-alcoholic drinks look like little cocktails
Anything but plain water!
That surfboard chair is AMAZING!
They sound like AMAZING friends to have… Perfect Sunday love!
Mmm banana soft serve, YUM!
Love the veggie garden. Just getting mine started. How lucky to have friends who serve fantastic food.
Not only does that look like the perfect Spring/Summer evening. But topped off with that ice cream sundae…amazing. Jealous.

I need to try it with coconut butter :]

Those tacos look spectacular! Love black bean tacos. YUM!
Yummyyyy the food looks good! And I so wish I could be crafty and as talented as F+T when it comes to building stuff!
Great open faced taco salads and I love that fireplace/outdoor oven? or whatever that beautiful piece is, gosh, that would make anyone’s backyard even better!
I love jazzing up sparkling water- lately I’ve been adding a bit of apple juice and it really makes such a difference!
I want a garden to produce my own tacos! What the heck, you southerners are so lucky to have space + land!
Gorgeous pictures, and yum on the meal. It’s so hard for us to meet up with friends, you are so lucky you get to do it often. Have a great evening!
That surf board chair is so cool!!! They are pretty crafty!
Those tacos look Perfect!
wow! everything (including that chair) is really impressive!
I love Mexican! Tacos are my favorite. Your dessert looks really yummy too!

Those tacos look awesome! Such fun!
Hi Kath!
I want to try to recreate Faith’s dish. What kind of cheese did she use?
Queso fresco
but goat or feta would have been great too
Hi Kath,
Please really think about biking while pregnant. My cousin’s cousin lost her baby as a result of a bike accident in London. It was awful. Probably nothing would happen to you, but in my opinion it’s not worth the risk.
Claire
Oh how awful
I’m trying to be super careful and only biking when I really can’t walk
One of my all time favorite things is foraging the garden and coming up with the bulk of a meal! Faith’s salad looks fantastic. And the tacos…I would eat them any time of day if I could
Good for you — looks like a blast!!
I agree with the other comment, I would think twice before biking while you are pregnant. No matter how careful you are, accidents can happen. It only takes one bad fall for something really bad to happen to the baby or yourself. When you are pregnant your balance is different and falls are more likely. Although it is tempting, I would not take the risk!
I [kind-of] understand the concern, but Claire and Emily’s comments just further the misconception the bicycling is a dangerous activity, or more dangerous than other things that most of us do every day (e.g., getting in a car and driving somewhere) without thinking about it.

Biking, while pregnant or not, is a safe, fun, and convenient way to get around. As you get farther in your pregnancy and walking becomes less comfortable, you’ll enjoy the bike even more.
I am on ob-gyn and always tell my patients no bike riding. I would ask your ob or midwife before I would go on the advice of a blog.
Mine said it was OK and that the risk was other cars, so that’s what I’m being most careful about
Wow that surfboard chair is awesome! You have some pretty darn cool friends
It is such a good feeling when you eat foods that you picked from your own backyard!
Those back bean corn tacos look really yummy!

That evening honestly sounds like heaven. I went to UVA and your posts are always so bittersweet for me because I miss that area and way of life so much. Clearly erring on the sweet, however
–LONG time reader!
I love Gena’s recipes!
YUM!! And what a cool chair!
Love the crafty chair! And those tacos look wonderful! So often tacos are poorly represented by things like Taco Bell impressions but when I’m thinking tacos, I’m thinking something along these lines.
That dessert looks fabulous. What a great way to end a summer meal!
