Smooth Sailing

December 2, 2008

Don’t know what was in my breakfast this morning (well, actually I do, and you do too!) but I didn’t get hungry until after 1pm! And even then it was just early hunger. But I had to eat so I’d have time to blog and all. Maybe it’s just my lucky day.

And I had a great lunch to enjoy too!

A Turkey + Laughing Cow on GH Honey Wheat Sandwich with honey mustard and romaine

Some finger crunch pepper and carrot

And the superstar – a mix of Fage Total and fat-free Stonyfield (to balance each other out!) with pom seeds and some Honey Rice Puffins! The husband brought home a tiny sample of the Puffins. They are quite delicious! I think I’d still vote for PB Puffins on top though.

This is my last packed lunch in a long time – I think my morning and afternoon obligations are over since I don’t have my morning class on Thursday. WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!

You might have noticed my new FoodBuzz ad ——>

I’ve joined the foodie party!!!

Off to class :)

I did notice your FB ad! (I just talked to you actually!) Congrats! You will love working with them!

I agree about the PB Puffins– they’re the BEST!

2 Stephanie December 2, 2008 at 1:48 pm

I did notice…does that mean the BlogHer ads are gone? Wasn’t that the previous sponsers. I’m all about the foodie party though :)

3 zestycook December 2, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Your lunch looks great! Love the dessert treat.

4 HangryPants December 2, 2008 at 1:52 pm

I mized my greek and non-greek yogurt for the first time yesterday and I loved the combo. Protein and calcium all in one!

Yay for foodbuzz. I am going to add you as a friend now!

5 Betsy in Pittsburgh December 2, 2008 at 1:53 pm

I’ve never been able to eat peppers raw… they always have to be on pizza or in a stir fry or something. They just don’t come to mind when I think of “snacking” vegetables. Maybe I should reconsider…

6 halie December 2, 2008 at 1:55 pm

I’ll add you as my foodbuzz friend if thats alright!

Isn’t it great when breakfast holds you over so well? I’ve been having that a lot lately! Thank you Oatmeal made with Oat milk!

7 amy December 2, 2008 at 1:55 pm

I have to say that your food pictures are great. So many times I take pictures of my meals and they don’t come out as well as yours.

I think that I may need another lens for my camera.

8 Mel December 2, 2008 at 1:59 pm

Yay for no more packed lunches! It’s so much nicer to be able to make them at home!

13 Maggie December 2, 2008 at 2:12 pm

I can’t wait until there’s a time when I can stop packing lunches… don’t know when that will be though!

Foodbuzz is fun :)

14 Natalie December 2, 2008 at 2:16 pm

Too funny! For breakfast I had PB Puffins and for lunch I had a turkey sandwich with laughing cow. I just started eating Laughing cow light a few months ago…I’m hooked!!

16 Andrea (Off Her Cork) December 2, 2008 at 2:22 pm

Love PB Puffins!! And I love how big the Puffin pieces actually are, makes for a nice snack.

I’m seeing pom seeds all over but where are you guys getting them? Are you using fresh poms? Because I have not seen seeds anywhere!

17 caitlin December 2, 2008 at 2:24 pm

18 Meg December 2, 2008 at 2:26 pm

Not to be nosy – just curious if you are able to make any kind of a living off of KERF?

19 Oh She Glows December 2, 2008 at 2:28 pm

Kath how did you sign up for Food Buzz?
I have sent in a few applications for their featured publishers program and I still haven’t heard back…I’m not sure if I am doing it right or if they only select blogs that get over a certain amount of hits per day?

Thanks in advance :)

20 Shelby December 2, 2008 at 2:41 pm

You like PB puffins the best? I like them and think they have great flavor but they are so big! I prefer the smaller original flavor hands down!

21 Jessica December 2, 2008 at 2:56 pm

You’ve breezed right through another semester! I recall you saying when you first started how you weren’t sure how this semester would all work out – but it has for you!! A lesson to us all that life comes together and we find solutions.

22 Ali December 2, 2008 at 3:00 pm

Yay for Foodbuzz! I thought the same as Caitlin though, why the change?
:) Also, can you send me your address for a treat coming your way?!

23 Megan December 2, 2008 at 3:27 pm

27 Sarah December 2, 2008 at 4:08 pm

Hey Kath! I just started reading your blog not too long ago, so I may have completely missed the post where you announced this, but when I was reading my Shape magazine on the elliptical today, I coulda sworn I saw an article about you and your weight loss!

I may be completely wrong though, cause the whole entire time, I was looking for some mentioning of oatmeal but didn’t find anything. I JUST HAVE TO KNOW THOUGH. It’s been killing me ever since.

28 Kath December 2, 2008 at 4:11 pm

Stephanie ,
Yes, I switched from BlogHer, but I am still a member of their community and hope to attend the conference in Chicago this summer.

amy ,
It’s all about the lighting!

I use the light wedges:

Andrea (Off Her Cork) ,
We’re buying them and de-seeding ourselves. I have a video on how to do it if you click on “videos” in the categories and search for pomegranate.

Meg ,
Yes, it makes the perfect part-time job! Maybe full time someday :)

caitlin + Ali ,
There were business reasons behind it :)

Oh She Glows,
Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s by invitation or sign-up…

Sarah ,
Hahaha – yes that was me!! Search for “Shape” on KERF and my reflection on the article and a scanned copy will pop up.

29 Runeatrepeat December 2, 2008 at 4:50 pm

I am going to have to copy your super filling breakfast and see if it works for me!

30 Teddy December 2, 2008 at 5:31 pm

31 VeggieGirl December 2, 2008 at 5:54 pm

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE CINNAMON PUFFINS & PB PUFFINS ARE VEGAN, GLUTEN-FREE, AND SOY-FREE!!! I purchased PB Puffins today at Whole Foods, and can’t wait to try them :-)

32 Jenny December 2, 2008 at 6:07 pm

Yay for foodbuzzzzz!

33 Cassidy December 2, 2008 at 7:04 pm

I just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me to try the StepMill at my gym. Ive always been afraid to try it and havent had time between swim practice and running. I did a cardio circuit today with 15 minutes on it. OH MAN!!! I LOVED IT! What a great sweaty work out! I grabed a magazine a the time flew by.

34 Mara December 2, 2008 at 7:20 pm

YAY for FB!!! I just got on there too!

It’s funny, my Sigg bottle has the SAME dent in it!

35 Tara December 2, 2008 at 7:29 pm

question: what is the difference between greek and non-greek yoghurt? is one better for you than the other?

36 Kath December 2, 2008 at 8:11 pm

Cassidy ,
It’s the hardest cardio machine in the gym!! Glad you liked it.

Tara ,
I think ‘better for you’ is subjective, but I think the greek has more protein and less calcium and the regular is the opposite. But I’m not sure without having the labels in front of me.

37 Jenn (eating bender) December 2, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Yay Foodbuzz :) They are great!

38 RhodeyGirl December 2, 2008 at 9:56 pm

I’m so happy you went for Foodbuzz! Yay!

Also, I am just catching up on blogs since I went home sick from work today, and I JUST finished packing my snack for tomorrow. Looks just like your yogurt today but will taste different. And here I thought I was being creative! I am having chobani 0 with vanilla extract, pom seeds, and some autumn harvest shredded wheat.

AND. my gh has vanilla oatmeal biscotti for the holiday season. does the hubbie’s too? if so, you MUST try it.

39 runjess December 3, 2008 at 11:20 am
