Baby in da house!!

IMG_9804 (640x427)

My best friend from high school, Becca, brought over 10 month old Guinevere to play. [Here she was 8 months ago!]

IMG_9807 (640x427)

Such fun!! She was just like a doll :) I want one!

IMG_9809 (640x427)

Around 11, Matt and I set out on a running adventure down Tobacco Road. To the Tobacco Trail in Durham. The path was awesome, but the SUN was not. We did about 5 miles and thank goodness for the Camelbak!!

IMG_0278 (640x480) (3)

I had a few raisins before I left

IMG_0276 (640x480) (2)

LOTS of water during the run

And a parking ticket after :(

Matt parked about 3 inches on the sidewalk and they got us. We drove a few blocks to the Durham parking office and submitted an appeal. We were safely away from traffic and were not obstructing pedestrian foot traffic at all.

IMG_0279 (640x480) (3)

Since I knew we were also very close to Whole Foods, we made a stop…

IMG_0280 (640x480)

Went in for this

IMG_0281 (640x480) (2)

Came out with this!

IMG_0283 (640x480) (3)

This was the only coconut water I could find chilled so I decided to try it. It was too sweet (sweetened with Stevia) and I didn’t care for the lemon/lime as much as plain.

IMG_9813 (640x427)

I couldn’t resist!!!

IMG_9811 (640x427)

IMG_9814 (640x427)

I had bits and pieces of veggies, beans, tofu, sweet potatoes (!!), kale, noodles. It was awesome.

IMG_9818 (640x427)

Also, I few pieces of Matt’s sliced cheese

IMG_9821 (640x427)

I have my name in the bricks next to Wool E. Durham at the Durham Bull’s ballpark and spent many summers going to games, but I have never seen this movie! Going to watch it in the background while I work on Summit stuff online.

11 Bethany @ More Fruit Please August 10, 2010 at 1:41 pm

It’s always dangerous running into Whole Foods for just one item!

13 homecookedem August 10, 2010 at 1:43 pm

14 Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) August 10, 2010 at 1:44 pm

I love the Whole Foods salad bar – irrestible :) My favorite thing to get is a sweet potato-roasted apple-pecan salad that they have in the Autumn months.

15 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday August 10, 2010 at 1:44 pm

Never seen Bull Durham either. I love that you’re watching a VHS.

16 Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) August 10, 2010 at 1:47 pm

Aw, baby! <3 :)

I haven't been to Whole Foods in so long!! I need to go sooooooon!

17 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) August 10, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Cute baby! My best from from high school is pregnant and due any minute now. Can’t wait to see her little one! I love that movie! I am such a southern girl! Enjoy it and good luck with work!

18 Gavi @ GaviGetsGoing! August 10, 2010 at 1:53 pm

What a cute baby! And I love the name Guinevere. Bull Durham is absolutely one of my favorite movies (and one of the only ones my boyfriend and I can agree on!)! Enjoy it!

19 Estela @ Weekly Bite August 10, 2010 at 1:54 pm

What a gorgeous baby!! She is too cute!

My husband LOVES Bull Durham! Its one of his favorites!

20 Laura August 10, 2010 at 1:59 pm

What an unusual, but extremely pretty name! Don’t think i’ve ever heard of it before actually! How do pronounce it properly?

21 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat August 10, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Aww what a cute baby!

I hear ya on the parking tickets. I got one on campus once because I was ‘blocking’ a driveway by about 1 inch while I ran in to hand in an assignment. They saw my car, wrote the ticket, and left it there for me, all within the span of about 3 minutes. AGGHHHHH!

22 Sally August 10, 2010 at 2:08 pm

Do you parents live in Durham? I just moved to Durham last month to start a graduate program at Duke and I was biking on the Tobacco Trail this morning!

23 Kath August 10, 2010 at 2:20 pm

They live in Hillsborough, but we’re all over the area a lot.

Can believe we almost ran into each other!

24 Sally August 10, 2010 at 3:43 pm

I haven’t seen that movie, but I’m going to my first Bulls game tonight.

25 Angela (The Lady Loves to Eat) August 10, 2010 at 2:10 pm

awe what a cute baby! I have baby fever right now so seeing babies makes it worse! I can’t wait to see a KERF baby!

26 Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine August 10, 2010 at 2:10 pm

The WF hot bar is positively irresistable. I just got a parking ticket too- not a great week to park your car, I guess! Hope your appeal works!

27 Krista August 10, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I used to live in Cary, and now in Fuquay Varina. Next time you are in the area, I want to do lunch!! When you went to CB, my parents live really close to the beach! I grew up there. We are bound to cross paths :)

28 Kath August 10, 2010 at 2:21 pm

Sure!! I’m never here for long though!

29 stephanie@Avocado Nation August 10, 2010 at 2:12 pm

Boo to parking tickets! Did you guys get a picture of the position his car was in? I am about to go run in the hot sun also. Not looking forward to it!

30 Amanda-The Nutritionist Reviews August 10, 2010 at 2:14 pm

31 Sam August 10, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Cute baby. Have you guys seen this that is going on the 21st?

They are also doing a tasting of the collaberation beer next week at Beer Run. Should be tasty :)

32 Kath August 10, 2010 at 2:22 pm

It’s on our list!

33 Sam August 10, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Parking ticket…major boo. What a mean policeman!

36 Meagan August 10, 2010 at 2:18 pm

AHH! You went to WFs and got a salad, again, I am soo jealous!

37 Jessica @ JJsVinBlanc August 10, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Boo on the parking ticket. It looks like you were downtown Durham too, I was just out at Noon too walking to a new bakery we have here called Scratch. It would have been so cool to have run into you guys.

Adorable baby girl, I want one too!

38 Rachel August 10, 2010 at 2:25 pm

You are in Durham?? Aw, we should have done lunch!

39 KellyB August 10, 2010 at 2:27 pm

OMG! I can’t believe you have never seen Bull Durham. Especially since you used to go to games there. What a great movie–definitely one of my faves!!

40 Kathleen August 10, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Love Bull Durham! Great movie. Sorry about the ticket. Hey just to let you know, I am hosting my first giveaway:

41 Lisa @ Lisa's Foods on the Move August 10, 2010 at 2:32 pm

I love Whole Foods’ food bars. So fun to pick and assortment of salads and things.

I’ve tried those ONE Active drinks too, and don’t care for the stevia. I love their regular coconut waters though.

42 Nancy @ The Wife of a Dairyman August 10, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Oooh sorry about your parking ticket:( What a cutie of a baby! You look like a natural holding her 😉

43 Allison K August 10, 2010 at 2:40 pm

Baby Fever is everywhere!

44 holly @ couchpotatoathlete August 10, 2010 at 2:40 pm

45 Sheri August 10, 2010 at 2:44 pm

MMM…Whole Foods food bar…I so wish I had a Whole Foods in Calgary! I should start a patition darn it! Your lunch looks very yummy! Sorry about the stupid parking ticket!

46 Stacey August 10, 2010 at 2:54 pm

Raisins are my fav go-to energy snack during a workout :) I’ve never had coconut water, but it sounds yummy and refreshing, hope you get your work done!

47 RhodeyGirl Tests August 10, 2010 at 2:54 pm

I am working on my HLS presentation and the cocktail hour playlist with Real Housewives in the background. I LOVE background noise- especially when it is fun and guilty!

48 britta August 10, 2010 at 3:00 pm

LOVE coconut water! My husband chops me a fresh one down every morning after my run when we are back home in the islands 😀

49 Caitlyn @ A Spoonful of Life August 10, 2010 at 3:01 pm

That’s such a cute picture of the three of you!! Guinevere has such an adorable smile!

50 Stacey August 10, 2010 at 3:03 pm

I don’t think I could have resisted the lure of the Whole Foods salad bar either!

You and Matt would have cute kids. 😉

51 Liz @ Tip Top Shape August 10, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Aaaw, Guenivere is adorable!! I agree with one of the comments above- such an unusual name but a beautiful one!!

I love that you are watching a movie in the background while you do work. I do that all the time! haha

52 Chelsea (Chelsea's Chew and Run Fun) August 10, 2010 at 3:14 pm

That baby is adorable! Whenever I see friends from high school that are now parents, it makes me feel like I’m behind in the “real” adult category. I can barely be held responsible for my basil plant, let alone a child.

I can never walk within 30 feet of a whole foods and not get something from the cold bar. Your selections look scrumptious!

53 Mary @ Bites and Bliss August 10, 2010 at 3:17 pm

Bleh about the parking ticket!! Hopefully they’ll let you off the hook. :/

54 Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter August 10, 2010 at 3:19 pm

I never realized how TALL Matt was! I’m sorry about the parking ticket. Hopefully they won’t charge you!

55 Christy August 10, 2010 at 3:28 pm

That is my all time favorite movie!!!!! Next to The Right Stuff and Smokey and the Bandit!

56 Ana August 10, 2010 at 3:36 pm

Tobacco trail, Durham,… I guess you really are in NC! Cool, you were in Cary, right where I live. If I knew it would be fun to meet… I didn’t know you were actually from around here (meaning Raleigh/Durham area).
I am glad you are having a great time!

57 Amanda August 10, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I was so excited to see the pic of lemon lime coconut water! Then was bummed to read it’s too sweet! I don’t have a big sweet tooth.

58 Ashley@thehungryscholar August 10, 2010 at 4:06 pm

1. That baby is adorable.
2. That ticket is not cool. I see a lot of parking tickets in my future. Boo.

59 Ella @ The Princess and the P August 10, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Oh my gawd I love babies so much. That little muffin is too precious!! Bull Durham is a great movie, I hope you love it :)

Bull Durham is a great flick!!!

63 Marlow August 10, 2010 at 4:20 pm

What a cute baby!!

You guys were literally one block from my work! I’m over on 9th street :) Too bad we didn’t run in to each other. Small world, even smaller: I’m originally from around Spartanburg too!

64 Eileen August 10, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Guinivere is adorable! I LOVE that phase. My kids are already grown out of it. *sniff, sniff*

65 Michelle Whitley (Coach Chelle) August 10, 2010 at 4:26 pm

Those veggies and noodles look so good!! Maybe it’s because I’m starving right now…seriously I love Whole Foods and Fresh Market.

By the way, two thumbs up on Bull Durham!!

66 lynn (The Actors Diet) August 10, 2010 at 4:29 pm

i watched that movie recently in the background too – i can’t remember what happened!

67 Lisa @bakebikeblog August 10, 2010 at 4:31 pm

Argh how annoying about the parking ticket!!!!

68 Tanya @ Life with the Kummerow August 10, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Love Whole Foods Hot Bar…I never can resist either. Found your blog today. Love it so far!

69 SB August 10, 2010 at 5:06 pm

“Such fun!! She was just like a doll I want one!”
Then do it now while you’re young, healthy and fertile! You should go for it!

70 Heather August 10, 2010 at 5:15 pm

what a cute baby! boo for the ticket, thats so annoying when you arent hurting anyone!

71 KatieTX August 10, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Only 3 inches away! that doesn’t deserve a ticket. I once parked 18 inches away and got a ticket..whoops.

72 katiegirl August 10, 2010 at 5:32 pm

Longtime reader first time poster! Just want to say CONGRATS on passing your exam! When I read that this morning I actually squealed! I am so very happy for you. All your hard work has paid off.

That baby-on-the-hip thing really looks good on you! 😉

P.S Bull Durham is a fantastic movie. Susan Sarandon is fantastic in that show. I recommend it for sure!

73 tanyasdaily August 10, 2010 at 5:32 pm

parking fun
your lunch looks perfect

74 Camille August 10, 2010 at 5:38 pm

Ahh, parking tickets suck!
I’m loving the VHS… old school!

75 BroccoliHut August 10, 2010 at 5:38 pm

Aah, you’re making me miss Durham! I went to that Whole Foods EVERY single week of my college career. Enjoy the rest of your time in D-town:)

76 Diana @ frontyardfoodie August 10, 2010 at 5:41 pm

Aww! What an adorable baby! I’m only a couple weeks away from having my own and I can’t wait!

77 Marie August 10, 2010 at 5:45 pm

Kath congrats on the RD front! So excited for you! I cannot get over a) how much I love your parents’ house, b) how much I love your parents’ garden, and c) how cute Guinevere is! She’s precious. I hope your parking ticket gets resolved for the best, blegh.

78 Rebekah @ Rebeltarian August 10, 2010 at 6:07 pm

I can’t leave whole foods with at least 2 or 3 impulse buys…Last week it w the chocolate flavored Food Should Taste Good chips…drool…

79 Amanda @ Cakes and Ale August 10, 2010 at 6:15 pm

That’s crazy you got a ticket for parking slightly on the sidewalk!
Here in Chicago, I see cars practically entirely on the sidewalk for days, with no tickets!

Also, congrats on your RD! I finished my MBA in June and was so thankful that I wasn’t pursuing a professional degree (like yours or a JD or something) that required another examination after graduation! Phew!

80 Maria @ Kale and Cupcakes August 10, 2010 at 6:33 pm

Babies are so cute and wonderful… parking tickets are not. Sounds like a productive night is planned!

81 Simply Life August 10, 2010 at 6:48 pm

WF salad bar is sooo amazing!

82 Deirdre August 10, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I’m behind on blogs but CONGRATS on passing your RD test. I knew you would rock it. I really love the movie Bull Durham but I love baseball so its a fun flick for me.

83 amanda August 10, 2010 at 7:21 pm

I made the mistake of going to Whole Foods today for one item and came out with little extras. lol

84 Wei-Wei August 10, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Hahaha “I want one!” 😀

85 Stacey@ August 10, 2010 at 7:41 pm

I can never resist the Whole Foods salad bar. I love the variety.

86 sarah (the SHU box) August 10, 2010 at 7:44 pm

ahh you went to the other side of the tob. trail! the southern side is so much prettier in my opinion! next time :)

87 Rachael August 10, 2010 at 8:19 pm

A beautiful baby, and I love her name! Very original in an Arthurian legend sort of way :)
I went 27 years without a ticket, but 2010 has brought 4 so far. The latest? Sleeping in my car in Canada. Yuck.

88 Josie- Skinny Way Of Life August 10, 2010 at 8:51 pm

Such a cute baby! be careful, I have two babies now because I got the mommy itch lol! wouldn’t trade it in for the world though : ) and Oh My how I miss Whole Foods! I grew up in Philadelphia so Whole Foods was a staple but now I live in the country and it’s nowhere to be found ::sigh::

89 Chelsey August 10, 2010 at 8:55 pm

if anyone CAN resist the whole foods salad bar they have some serious will power!

the baby is adorable!

90 Nelly@CrazySexyFit August 10, 2010 at 9:10 pm

OMG! I totally did not realise that you are RIGHT in my town! That’s the WF I shop at, that’s the trail I run (sadly not today though), that’s the movie that has shots of my highschool all through the intro…my goodness, I need to sit down and process this. Also, next time you are near Ninth St. and have a hankering for coffee, Bean Traders is my favorite place in town.

91 Wendy August 10, 2010 at 9:28 pm

I SO love your blog. And I love that your nails are still orange!

92 Hannah August 10, 2010 at 9:37 pm

Good luck getting out of the parking ticket – it sounds like you have my bad luck, in the sense that I almost NEVER park anywhere illegally, and when I do it’s always accidental, but I always get caught. SIGH. So I really hope you get yours fixed!

93 Lele August 10, 2010 at 10:00 pm

I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Bull Durham! One of my favorite movies! I have such a girl crush on Susan Sarandon.

94 Jac August 10, 2010 at 10:56 pm

The salad looks good! If only there were salad bars like that here!

95 Michelle August 11, 2010 at 12:11 am

Miss Guinevere is beautiful! I want one, too. :) & that salad looks soooo yummy…I wish we had a Whole Foods in South MS.

96 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin August 11, 2010 at 8:03 am

Aww, she’s adorable! 😀

Parking tickets are such a pain! I’ve heard that appeals are usually pretty successful though. Good luck with it!

97 Kristi @ Hiding in Honduras August 11, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Kath – it’s Wool E. BULL 😉 I grew up going to Bulls games, too…didn’t you love it when they hit a home run and the smoke came out the nostrils?! Very cool you have your name on the bricks…my dad did the brickwork on the famous players 3D brick murals!

Hope you win your ticket appeal!
