Smells Like Rain

February 2, 2012

Sounds like rain.

IMG_5577Blog

Eyeballs confirmed: rain.

With spring weather comes April Showers, so it’s a trade off I will take.

Long time, no pancake!

IMG_5564Blog

I made one big fat Kodiak cake this morning (add less water to the batter to make it thick enough for a tall, fat pancake). I added some coconut and a few granola crumbs to the cake before flipping and then topped it with a tsp of cookie butter, seared banana, a scant tbsp of chia charger and some of my Ellwood Thompson granola (love that stuff Elly!)

It was a crunchy, creamy mess that was gone in 5 minutes!

Served with a teacup of tea

And a dash of rain splatter

I could use some yoga today. Good timing rain! But it already looks to be clearing out….

Yoga sounds like a fabulous idea today. I taught 2 spin classes yesterday, and threw in 2 treadmill runs (just for fun lol) so my body could use a little savasana! ;) Happy Thursday Kath!

Love caramelized bananas – I have been topping everything with them lately. They says dates are nature’s candy, but I think these are where it’s at!

Ha, those bananas almost look like pickles, Kath!

Enjoy your day!

So at first I thought it said “smells like rain” and I LOVE the smell of rain, yes I’m weird, so I was all excited. And then I realized it said “sounds like rain” that’s ok though, I am equally in love with the sound of rain.

I like rain in general, I am weird. :-)

I was just eyeing my Trader Joe’s pancake mix I’m hoarding in the basement last night. This may have pushed me over the edge to make pancakes this weekend. Yum!

Yummy!! I miss pancakes. I was making them as my weekly Sunday morning meal over the summer, but now my pancake batter goes unused :[ I might be going to IHOP tonight for half-off student discount night though! Woooo!

That would be gone in 5 minutes for me, too.
It is a good yoga day, but due to circumstances I swapped my yoga and strength training days from yesterday and today, so it’s boot camp with Bob Harper for me. Hope I have more energy by the time it comes to work out!

Please advise, how do you make carmelized bananas? That sounds so interesting, I never think to cook fruit except for pies!

Reply

28 KathEats February 2, 2012 at 10:14 am

While the pancake skillet is hot, I spray a little oil misto and put the banana face down. It just sits there for about 4 minutes and then I flip it. When the pancake is done, it is done!

Love that we’re getting warm rain at this time of year as opposed to freezing rain!

Like I have expressed before, if it is January or February in the northern states, it should be snowing, not raining. The weather this year has been a lot different than last year when we got an influx of snow. Oh well! :)

Just wanted to say thank you for all the great tips. I bought some of the chia charger off opensky and I love it. I spread it on toast in the morning or add to my oats and it keeps me fueled for hours. Your blog has become something I look forward to reading everyday and I usually end up trying your recipes or the products you recommend. I am very much hooked on Trader Joe’s Sunflower seed butter. Yum! I am trying to start a blog for my health coaching website but I am not a computer wiz. Any easy tips? Hope you have a great Weekend!!
