Slept "Late"

March 14, 2010

According to new time I slept late.

According to old time I was up at 7!

Still got a good night’s rest and am hyped for my big run today. And nervous – not about the mileage, but about all the factors that could prevent me from finishing! Foot, blister, who knows what!

Matt and I made a spectacular breakfast and then cleaned and polished the whole house in preparation for our showing today at 1PM. Love that I now have a good reason to make him help me clean :) When the two of us do it together it only takes about 30 minutes top to bottom. Love how fresh it smells too! The Method Almond Wood Floor cleaner is super expensive, but it does make my floors shine and smells great.

Today was one of those days where I woke up and realized I had the whole morning to enjoy a huge bowl of oatmeal and practically bounded out of bed!

It was an extra delicious mix indeed

The Mix

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 2 tbsp Bob’s Red Mill Apple Cinnamon Hot Cereal (I just love the texture of oats and hot cereals combined)
  • Lots of water
  • 1/2 cup organic 2% milk (I’ve switched back from 2% to skim milk after realizing that I like skim in my coffee just as much, but Matt got 2% yesterday by accident!)
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • Splash vanilla
  • Toppings: Galaxy Granola, Crofter’s North America and an extra large spoonful of Naturally Nutty Vanilla Peanut Butter!

EarthFare coffee (2/3) + Christmas Blend decaf (1/3)

I’ve got 1.5 hours till I’m meeting Emily. Just enough time to get a bit more computer work done and then enjoy the whole day!

[PS. I’m going to be updating WordPress so if anything weird happens, you know why]

Good luck with your Wordpress update and your house showing! Nothing like a wide-open Sunday morning to get me in a good mood too. :)

3 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) March 14, 2010 at 9:56 am

That’s exactly what I tweeted this morning—I got up early but it was actually late!! Boo. I like when DST ends in Oct :) Have a great run and cheer on the blue devils today!

Good luck with the run!

I made my coffee in a french press today and was waiting for the “bloom shape”…and it never came lol.

If the day job doesn’t work out, sounds like you’ve got a handle on cleaning!
Good luck with the run!

10 Brittany March 14, 2010 at 10:23 am

I woke up late when considering the new time change as well!

I love your oatmeal bowl – where’s it from??

11 Kath March 14, 2010 at 10:44 am

Hand made by my neighbor from home!

12 Brittany March 14, 2010 at 10:48 am

Wow- that’s awesome!

OOooh good luck on your epic run! I hope you kick some butt :)
I always get out of bed that bit quicker knowing I have a good breakfast coming up…there’s nothing better than a bowl of oats enjoyed nice and leisurly 😀

I forgot about the time change! I was reminded last night and I don’t think I like “losing” an hour! Mmmmm vanilla peanut butter!

17 Food Makes Fun Fuel March 14, 2010 at 10:56 am

Waking up after 6 hours of sleep was not how I like my Sundays! Still, good to get it overwith :-)

18 Monica (Musings of The Granola Girl) March 14, 2010 at 11:00 am

What a very springy looking breakfast :)

I hate DST! I thought I woke up late this morning but was tricked as well!

19 Hannah March 14, 2010 at 11:19 am

I ahve to say, you lost me on the coffee foam image, but I still love the look of the oatmeal! As a non-American though, I’m wondering – is the 2% higher or lower in fat than skim?

20 Cynthia (It All Changes) March 14, 2010 at 11:33 am

Enjoy your long run! I’m doing my longest today too.

21 Cole March 14, 2010 at 11:55 am

Those oats look so creamy. Yum.

22 Jenna March 14, 2010 at 11:58 am

Great bowl of oats!!

23 Daniel March 14, 2010 at 12:28 pm

Everytime I see a picture of your oats with Crofter’s in it I’m more and more tempted to get some!
Though I’m not one for added sugars, I’m sure there aren’t too many in it from what I’ve seen.

Also, good luck on your run, I hope nothing bad happens to your feet!

Happy Pi day. ^_^

Hi…this video is a month old, but I thought I send you the link anyways. I thought it was interesting. If you’ve seen it, just ignore me!!

25 Simply Life March 14, 2010 at 1:12 pm

Ha, i was excited to see I made it until “7am” since my body just doesn’t know how to sleep in :)

26 Run Sarah March 14, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Good luck with the house showing! I am having a similar morning – just ate oats/drank coffee and waiting to digest before my run.

27 Jessica @ How Sweet It Is March 14, 2010 at 2:14 pm

Your coffee makes me want to be at the beach. :)

28 christie @ honoring health March 14, 2010 at 2:23 pm

I was up at 6:30 and I dragged myself out because I knew that I wouldn’t get enough sleep tonight if I didn’t. I do love daylights savings time, though. I love the extra light in the evenings.

29 Allison March 14, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Given a little controversy that popped up on your blog (two years ago??) about a comment you made, I thought you might find this article interesting.

31 Stacey March 14, 2010 at 3:01 pm

Good luck on your run! Hope that blister doesn’t start acting up 😀

Oh, I meant to tell you that on Thurs, you left the CDA meeting too early! They still had a raffle for the fruit basket and YOUR name was called for that too!!! They waited like 5 minutes before going to the second person :( At least you still got a gift card to Borders! 😉

32 Kath March 14, 2010 at 3:12 pm

NO WAYYYY!!!! I almost stayed but then I thought if I won I would forfeit it because I already won something. So funny.

33 [email protected]:// March 14, 2010 at 5:02 pm

I love your oats, everyday and especially today, yum!!!!

34 Foy Update - Garden. Cook. Write. Repeat. March 15, 2010 at 2:27 pm

I got up at 6am and it was still pitch dark. Yuck. At least it will be lighter when I go home tonight.
