I am most definitely in need of a second shower today – after all that attic work and then a later afternoon steamy walk with Faith, followed by some pool deck reading before yoga, then yoga, I’m all sweat!
I had a little time to kill inbetween our walk and yoga, so I went up to the rooftop of ACAC for a little reading.
Shade please! [Too bad I left my suit at home]
Prepared with a snack: 2 dates and a handful of vanilla maple almonds
Yoga was a great stretch, and then I walked home to dinner on the table.
Karen brought over some sausage lasagna she made and all we had to do was heat it up. It was a fabulous lasagna – it’s Karen’s specialty!
On the side – the usual. Garden greens (love how tender our buttercrunch lettuce is!) with avocado and pecans, and a dressing of just a drizzle of honey and olive oil.
After dinner playing!
I should probably be in the basement – it’s about 20 degrees cooler down there!

We are in a heat wave here in Southern Ontario…we finally broke down and put on the AC tonight! Tomorrow I am baking up a storm of allergen friendly cupcakes for my son’s Grade 8 Graduation…with the humidex to hit somewhere in the 40 Celcius range…I think I might be needing it! Lasagne with salad looks awesome! So cheesy!
Hi! I know you have posted this before but can I ask where you got that wooded table on your porch? Did you guys make it?
Matt made it!
Those almonds look great… Never heard of them until now, thanks! =]
I post wayyyyyy too many pictures of my cats on Instagram. They just do such cute things… But sometimes I look at my feed and think maybe no one else thinks so hahaha
It was 95 here in WI today and H U M I D. I went out on my porch to water my plants and it’s still super thick. Definitely head to the basement – I can’t believe you managed a walk in this. Holy cow!
that lasagna looks so delicious, even better than the pretzels and cheese from this afternoon!
that cat is too much! haha. and karen’s dish looks good enough to be a specialty! [minus the sausage.] I just had cheesy delicious pasta from my favorite Italian restaurant. but now I either need bedtime or a pre-bedtime nap. :p
That dinner looks perfect. Ya gotta love a home made heat and eat meal like that! Enjoy your night Kath!
homegrown lettuce, the lasagna, and the vanilla maple almonds …with yoga…perfect day!
Hi Pumpkin!
Mmm I love lasagna. I think I’m do for making a pan so I can freeze the leftovers for easy re-heatable dinners!
That close up photograph of you shows just how beautiful your skin is! It’s like porcelain!
Butter lettuce is the best – I’m obsessed!
I absolutely adore how simple and delicious all of your salads look!
Mmmm I love a good side salad. Looks so crisp and fresh!
That lasagna looks ah-mazing. Is it the same basic lasagna recipe of Karen’s you’ve posted before?
I think slightly different… With ricotta and sausage instead of cottage cheese and veggies
Our daughter & I were totally in the pool today, because it was very hot outside! It was even 90 degrees around 6:45PM or so.

Ibarely started my garden and you have been eating. Yours for weeks! Gah. I’m behind on life, lol.
Hi Kath,
First of all, I love when you are back home from travelling because I love to see what you and Matt make at home. It’s far more interesting than any restaurant orders.! Simple yet so creative.
Question about the avocado and something that I struggle with. Do you end up using the entire avocado at once? Is that why it looks so fresh? I usually use half on my salads and the other half goes into the fridge for the next day. But the next day, it’s inevitably brown. :/ The lime/lemon juice on top doesn’t work that well….thanks.
This one is two days old, stored in fridge, with pit, in plastic wrap. I think you have to eat them sooner than you think to keep them green longer
Before reading your blog I never would have imagined using simply olive oil and honey on a salad. Now, that’s all I prefer. Thanks for always inspiring me to think outside of the box (or bottle rather)!
WOAH. Stop for a second. WHERE is that rooftop pool/patio? It’s amazing! I wish I had somewhere like that to bask in the sun…
At my gym!
Love that salad- so simple yet flavorful!
Oh thos almonds look good, as does the lasagna! it has been stinkin hot here in PA too! Definitely worse though when you’re pregnant!
Please could Karen share the recipe for the lasagna? It looks delicious. It would be great to see a guest post from her!
It’s great when someone else gets dinner ready for you! Excellent!
That lasagna looks delicious!
I love when dinners are quick and easy like that.
Is the cat yours or the neighbours?
The neighbors – she just comes over all.the.time
The basement is my favourite place to escape to on hot days! Sometimes I’ll even set up a bed on the couch and sleep down there!
Also that rooftop deck looks so peaceful! What a great place to relax.
Have you been trying to explain to the cat that a baby is coming along and that its play time will be decreased in months to come? Ha
Ooooh sausage lasagna!? I LOVE that idea!
Vanilla maple almond? Yum! Karen’s sausage lasagna sounds wonderful too!!!
I really need to jump on that honey + oil bandwagon. Sounds so light/refreshing
