I just recently started making my green monsters thicker and better for a bowl. I like it much better than drinking them. There's just something more satisfying about eating vs. drinking food.

Thanks so much for the info! Barney Butter definitely tastes better than other almond butters I have tried - so it is worth it!

Annamarina Romine,
Healthwise, palm oil and sugar are in such small amounts that it's negligible. Yes, just almonds and salt would be optimal, but like you said, the taste!!!! And they aren't going to cause any negative health effects in such a small amount (unless you eat it by the jar...). But there are some environmental implications of palm oil. My reasoning is that I don't eat many products with palm oil it them, so nut butters are my one vice.

Hi Kath! I love reading your blog! I have a quick question about Barney Butter. I was so excited to find it at our Whole Foods the other day, however I was confused when I looked at the ingredients compared to other almond butters. Most of the almond butters on the shelf simply had almonds and salt listed as the ingredients. Barney Butter contains almonds, evaporated cane juice, palm fruit oil, and sea salt. I bought the Barney Butter, and I must say it is delicious! Does the cane juice and oil make it less healthy than other almond butters? Or do those ingredients just make it more tasty?! Just thought I would get your opinion on this! Thanks!

Mandy ,
I store red for 2-3 days and we use one of those air pump things to cap it. My dad stores it in the fridge, where it lasts longer, and microwaves it to heat it back up, but I have yet to try that method. White usually lasts 3-5 days in my fridge. That's one of the cons of opening a bottle - it's never as good the next few days. Boxed wine is great for that though.

Courtney ,
I've been buying local peaches and I know they are not all organic. I wash them and use my hands to scrub lightly. Just taking a risk on the pesticides I guess.

Stephanie ,
YES! It's slightly roasted and supppper smooth.

Jenn Eats Nutritiously Now,
No, not again. Esp. with winter coming. I just love the taste of coffee and tea and it's not worth it. I don't mind having a cup per day, but it does suck when I'm not in the mood.

Stephanie (commenter #13): Yes, Barney Butter is THAT GOOD! It's amazing, if a little bit expensive. But a big jar lasts a while, so the price isn't too bad over the long haul.

I echo some other commenters: ricotta cheese is the way to go. Ricotta milkshake! With fruit and maybe a tiny bit of sweetener, it tastes like drinkable cheesecake. Yum!
