Season’s Eatings

December 25, 2009

Happy Christmas to those of you stopping by today!

I think this was perhaps the latest Christmas morning we’ve ever had. We had a lovely brunch at 11AM and then opened presents afterwards and are just now finishing up! When we were younger we were never allowed to start opening presents at 5AM like some families do – we always had to wait until my parents got up around 7 or 8. Today mom and dad were up before we all were!

I woke up around 8:30 and ended up taking a shower before coming down and having some coffee while we prepared brunch. I was surprised I was able to make it to 11 without anything formal to eat. I did nibble from the fruit salad and sipped my cup of coffee, so that helped :)

Brunch was delightful –

Mom’s cinnamon coffee cake

Fruit salad

Matt A’s cheesy scrambled eggs

IMG_1893 (640x427)

Turkey Snausages

Great Harvest buttered toast

IMG_1907 (640x427)

Smoothie Girl Deb’s Pecan butter with peach preserves

IMG_1896 (640x427)

I had some tea with brunch so as not to overload with caffeine

IMG_1897 (640x427)

IMG_1900 (640x427)

I had some of everything (‘cept snausage cause I don’t really care for meats at breakfast)

It was all so delicious!

IMG_1909 (640x427)

Plus some OJ my mom put at each place

IMG_1908 (427x640)

Then it was gift time

IMG_1918 (640x427)

IMG_1919 (640x427)

Kanz’s were wrapped in bears!!

IMG_1924 (427x640)

And he got a new OUTFIT for our bears!

IMG_1930 (427x640)

Santa my have a partnership with Delta because I got BISCOFF for Christmas!!

IMG_1925 (427x640)

IMG_1926 (640x427)

I got some wonderful gifts – a Yogitoes towel, the Wicked CD, a Davidson running hat and cooking measurements kitchen towels :)

IMG_1935 (427x640)

A book I’ve been wanting to read

IMG_1937 (640x427)

And this awesome/hilarious running top from Matt‘s dad and Cheryl that has half gloves, a hood…

IMG_1938 (427x640)

IMG_1939 (427x640)

The bear theme continued with some bear PJs and this awesome sleep mask!!

IMG_1943 (427x640)

We got my dad those gloves with the fingers missing so he can read and walk with his magazines in cold weather!

IMG_1941 (427x640)

It’s pouring rain here and we’re all cozy inside. I might lead the group in a space-heater hot yoga class from YogaDownload and there will be lots of reading and relaxing until Christmas dinner tonight.

Hope you guys are surrounded by those you love :)

Read your blog a lot but have never commented before – the running top really made me chuckle though. Love the ponytail hole!
Merry Christmas

What a yummy looking brunch! Love the cheese-y eggs and fruit salad :-) It looks quite a bit healthier than my family’s annual GIANT cinnamon roll tradition, hehe.

3 Jenna December 25, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Looks like lots of fun

9 Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope December 25, 2009 at 4:31 pm

What a lovely Christmas Kath! That running top is actually pretty neat – you certainly would stay protected from the elements. 😉

10 Pat Kilmain December 25, 2009 at 4:39 pm

I love the New Rules book – hope you do too!

11 Danielle (Coffee Run) December 25, 2009 at 4:50 pm

I really like that running top! Santa gave me a gift card to Dicks so I might look into that. Idk if I’d use the ponytail hole though haha

12 Angie December 25, 2009 at 4:57 pm

13 nagore December 25, 2009 at 5:01 pm

thanks!! xx

14 Kath December 25, 2009 at 10:36 pm

It’s pretty much the same recipe as my grandmother’s hot milk cake, which you can find on the recipe page :)

15 Ameena December 25, 2009 at 5:09 pm

The ponytail holder cracked me up!! Merry Christmas. :)

16 Faye December 25, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Merry Christmas! I always wondered what those holes were for on my shirts- my arms are short so they never reached them! I love the ponytail hole. I’ve had a weight lifting book for a year and I have yet to open it because I’m not a fan of lifting weights, but hopefully I’ll make that my new year’s resolution.

17 Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen December 25, 2009 at 5:18 pm

What a fun breakfast! And that’s a great running top, so fun with a ponytail holder :) Merry Christmas!

18 Jennifer December 25, 2009 at 5:55 pm

21 Emily December 25, 2009 at 6:10 pm

Aren’t snausages a brand of dog treat? It made me laugh anyway.
Merry Christmas, Kath!

22 Kailey December 25, 2009 at 6:21 pm

merry christmas!

23 Amy December 25, 2009 at 6:26 pm

I have that sleep mask! I just got it at Bed Bath and Beyond a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. It is the best sleep mask I have ever had- it keeps ALL the light out and the little bubbles around your eyes make it feel like you aren’t even wearing a mask! I hope you enjoy it and get lots of refreshing sleep after the sun comes up!

24 Kristine December 25, 2009 at 6:33 pm

I absolutely love that underarmour shirt! I just laughed out loud at it! Merry Christmas, Kath!

25 amanda @ fake ginger December 25, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Merry Christmas Kath! I love that hoodie. What a great idea! Definitely need to get my hands on one of those.

(I loved that sweater so much when you posted about it the other day that I searched my Target until I found one!)

26 Cynthia (It All Changes) December 25, 2009 at 6:49 pm

That book is on my Birthday wish list. Good thing it is in less than a month :-)

What brand is that shirt? I need one for spring running.

27 Kath December 25, 2009 at 10:36 pm

Under Armour

28 Yelena December 25, 2009 at 7:26 pm

That shirt is so awesome! Happy holidays, hope you enjoy yourself!

29 Carolyn December 25, 2009 at 7:44 pm

Love that running shirt. Too funny!

30 Stef December 25, 2009 at 8:59 pm

That ponytail hole is priceless! I’m so jealous you got a yogitoes towel :). Love your blue sweater, looks like a good time was had by all!

31 Jenn (www. ) December 25, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Brunch looks wonderful! Great gifts, too! I have that NROLW book. Some people swear by it. I skipped to the nutrition part and got bored, but I haven’t tried their lifting program yet. Maybe that will be my January resolution. :)

32 Lora December 25, 2009 at 9:10 pm

First, a very merry Christmas to you. Second, did you know that you can find Biscoff in grocery stores? I can get it here at my local store…no flying on Delta needed!

33 Kath December 25, 2009 at 10:37 pm

Yep! But I think the ones from Delta taste extra special because of the love in carrying them back.

34 Susan December 25, 2009 at 9:25 pm

Oooh, I did the whole 6 month New rules of Lifting program and loved it!!! Even if you don’t do the program it’s a good read. Love that shirt with the ponytail hole too 😉

Merry Christmas Kath + Fam!!!

35 Brittany December 25, 2009 at 9:44 pm

Merry Christmas Kath! I love the running top from Matt’s Dad.

36 KatieTX December 25, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I got that book for Christmas 2 years ago and enjoyed reading it. It will make you want to be a beast and tear up the weight room using heavy weights. I am interested to know what you think of it!

37 Alison December 25, 2009 at 10:02 pm

that running outfit is hilarious!

38 Lee December 25, 2009 at 10:06 pm

Love the ponytail hole shirt!

I have been doing the New Rules of Lifting workouts for a couple months.

39 Paige (Running Around Normal) December 25, 2009 at 10:19 pm

What a lovely brunch! The cinnamon coffee cake looks delicious.
You two and your bears are tooo funny 😀
That top is so awesome! Who woulda thought of a pony tail hole?!

40 Meggilizz December 25, 2009 at 10:22 pm

41 Maria (realfitmama) December 25, 2009 at 10:27 pm

That running shirt was cracking me up, but I think I want one!! Where did they find it??

42 Kath December 25, 2009 at 10:37 pm

Merry Christmas to you all too!

43 Jenny December 25, 2009 at 11:36 pm

It’s amazing how much more relaxed the atmosphere is at Christmas now, compared to when we were little kids! I love being able to take my time in the morning and not waking up at 6am to see what Santa brought 😉

Brunch looks incredible, and that running shirt with the ponytail hole is the coolest!

44 Sam @ Happy Shoes December 26, 2009 at 1:03 am

Ha! That shirt is hilarious. I showed my husband and he asked if it was a running Snuggie.

I really love that book. Not just for the lifting guides & program but also for the general weight loss and nutrition info in the first half. Plus, the author is entertaining and his advice makes a lot of sense.

45 Shane December 26, 2009 at 2:28 am

Merry Christmas! I LOVE the bears outfit!

46 Liz December 26, 2009 at 4:35 pm

You will love New Rules of Lifting!! Best weight lifting book ever. I have it and have done the workouts and loooooove it!! Makes so much sense weight lifting wise. Nutrition wise and cardio wise, I wasn’t impressed, but it is a weight lifting book, so the good weight lifting info is what matters the most. Enjoy the book!
