"Ry-an Started The Fire!"

November 30, 2009

Remember that Office episode!?

I biked on over to the gym today and did a happy 10 minutes on the Stairmaster when the fire alarm went off!!

I saw a big fire truck, but I never saw any smoke. The alarm my have been set off by the fi-yah I was makin’ on the Stairmaster !!

[Did you know if you Google Images search for "Stepmill flames" that two of my posts come up!?!?!?!]

I sadly had to get off the machine and take my workout out to the parking lot. I could have just stood there with the others, but I saw this as an opportunity for sprints!

I moseyed on over to the track and ran about a mile alternating sprinting, walking and jogging (in that order). Then I moved to the fields and did squats, lunges, pushups, and burpies. "Whatcha Say" is the perfect tempo for jumping lunges. Just sayin’!

Once back home I heated up some Cocoa Coconut Chili from the freezer.

Served with a little REAL coconut :) I used my FIREY cali bowl for eating! The bowl was perfect for heating soup. I hate it when the soup gets all on the edges from stirring – it’s bad for the photography and looks messy! But the nice lip on the bowl hides the mess well :)

A side of Honey Sesame Kashi’s

I could barely finish this lunch – so filling!

RDU Readers

That chili looks so good! It would be perfect for this gloomy day in Boston.

2 Diana November 30, 2009 at 1:08 pm

chili sounds wonderful right now……it’s cold and snowing – boo.

3 Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) November 30, 2009 at 1:10 pm

LOVE those Cali bowls, they are SO cute! The chili looks yummy.

4 Mama Pea November 30, 2009 at 1:12 pm

Not cool that you were in a fire, but oh my, you just made my morning. I always go up to my hubs and sing, “RYAN started the FIUHERRR!!!” right in his ear. He loves it.

5 Kat (Kat's Daily Plate) November 30, 2009 at 1:14 pm

I love chili on a cold day. Aren’t freezers just the best? They make everything so much easier!

6 Jen (Running With Cake) November 30, 2009 at 1:18 pm

Running plus squats, lunges, and push-ups? All I have to say to that is ouch! The coconut chili sounds so warm and soothing right now.

7 Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) November 30, 2009 at 1:24 pm

10 Paige(Running Around Normal) November 30, 2009 at 1:27 pm

I love that chil. One of my faves. That’s too funny the fire alarm went off! Great way to make use of the situation!

11 Cynthia (It All Changes) November 30, 2009 at 1:30 pm

I love to google things and find my own stuff. Makes me smile.

Good for you to use the time to still get in a workout. I like to take advantage of what I have even if its not the plan…although it does freak me out.

12 rhodeygirl November 30, 2009 at 1:30 pm

That made me laugh :)

17 coco November 30, 2009 at 1:41 pm

it’s so funny that two of your posts come out! πŸ˜€
but you did a great job on completing the workout by your own! I would feel pissed off and go back home without a workout!

18 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg November 30, 2009 at 1:42 pm

Ha…I love that episode. Ryan is one of my favorite characters on that show. His outfits have been cracking me up on the new season.

Have a great class!

19 Kristie Lynn November 30, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Reminds of the Fire-Burning song :)

20 Robin November 30, 2009 at 1:52 pm

I made that chili a few months ago and liked it better as leftovers. Yummy, I wish I had some in my freezer for tonight.

21 Marisa (Trim The Fat) November 30, 2009 at 1:53 pm

I love those bowls!

22 Hallie (Healthy Twists) November 30, 2009 at 1:56 pm

We had leftvover chili for dinner last night (with homemade jalapeno cornbread..YUM). And we have turkey soup and vegetable soup in the fridge. It’s going to be a week of soups in my house! Chili is so filling and comforting, I just love it.

23 Madeline @ Greens and Jeans November 30, 2009 at 1:57 pm

chili is the best on a cold fall day! The Ryan started the fire episode is one of my favorites!

24 Joelle (The Pancake Girl) November 30, 2009 at 1:58 pm

I would love to meet up with you on Saturday, but I’ll be running in the Jingle Bell Run downtown that same morning. Hope you have a nice trip!

27 Erin November 30, 2009 at 2:18 pm

Whenever I hear the REAL version of that song, I can’t help but sing along, “Ryan started the fire…”

28 Morgan November 30, 2009 at 2:19 pm

How do you freeze your soups?
Mine always get ice crystals on them.. i need a solution!

29 Kath November 30, 2009 at 7:19 pm

We put them in freezer-safe ziplocks and lay them flat on a cookie sheet and once they’re frozen they stack nicely.

30 megan November 30, 2009 at 2:22 pm

I think its funny that you did the stairmaster after watching the ugly truth and that he says that women need to get skinny and do this. you must have got this idea from the movie

31 Kath November 30, 2009 at 7:20 pm

I think it’s funny that you actually think I’d follow a movie’s advice on how to “get skinny.” I’ve been climbing the Stairmaster for years. Best machine in the gym.

32 Naomi(onefitfoodie) November 30, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Love that “gmailing” is now a verb!!

39 Karla November 30, 2009 at 3:05 pm

I hate when workouts are interrupted.
Today I got on a treadmill that was signed up for for an hour because no one was on it, then it turns out a girl signed up for the wrong treadmill so when she got kicked off the one she was she came over to the correct one and kicked me off! Has she been signed up for the correct treadmill, all would have been well!

40 Brie (The Fit Bride) November 30, 2009 at 3:09 pm
