April 29, 2011

I woke up with a jolt this morning, sun pouring onto my bed. “I’m missing it!”

Went down and got some oats started as I caught up on the big event. I would have loved to watch every bit of royal wedding media this week, but life has been so busy! Glad I got to see some of it live – including the kiss!

I chose my most royal linens from my grandmother and a blue willow plate for the occasion

Wedding Oats

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Half banana
  • Pinch salt
  • Sprinkle cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp cooked wheatberries, stirred in at end
  • Vanilla
  • Crumbled FANNEtastic Oat Puff Ball + Sunflower butter
  • IMG_8141BlogIMG_8145Blog

There was no time to make tea with breakfast, so I put some on after. I searched my tea jar for something more English, but couldn’t find any! Peppermint it was.

Happened to snap this photo to document my morning entertainment

And just HAPPENED [I swear an accident!] to capture this!

So so glad they kissed twice :) Congrats to the newlyweds!

    Fun morning!

We’ve got a stunning weekend ahead – 75* and sunny. I’m going to Body Pump this morning and then I’ll be joining Matt at the bakery for a while and also tomorrow morning. Lots to do to get this bakery going!

Aw, I missed the kiss this morning! Thanks for sharing that :)

    Enjoy your day, Kath!

2 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) April 29, 2011 at 8:00 am

Love the linen! I’m sure they’ll be replaying this wedding a hundred times over the next week!

    3 Holly @ The Runny Egg April 29, 2011 at 8:01 am

I missed the kiss — so thanks for showing it here!

And I love that you still have that chalk drawing of the vase of flowers on the wall — I thought that was so beautiful!

    4 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday April 29, 2011 at 8:02 am

I watched the whole thing at the gym while I ran on the treadmill.

…it sure made 9 miles go by fast!

    5 Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey April 29, 2011 at 8:06 am

I watched the entire wedding while getting ready for work this morning, and got up extra early to watch everyone arriving before the start. I had to drive to work after the ceremony, but managed to see the kisses live once I got there. Woo-hoo. Love it!

    It’s a happy day. :)

    6 Molly April 29, 2011 at 8:06 am

I’m glad the oats got in on the wedding hype!

    7 Kate @ NaturaStride April 29, 2011 at 8:07 am

Yes! I was at the gym too and all the girls (and some of the guys) were watching the wedding on the individual TVs. So fun!
    Enjoy your sunny weekend :)

    8 lauren @ spiced plate April 29, 2011 at 8:08 am

I got to watch it at the gym this morning (we don’t have television at home) it was so nice to see something happy on the morning news!
And those oats do indeed look very regal in that lovely blue bowl!

9 Freya (Brit Chick Runs) April 29, 2011 at 8:09 am

I’m amazed you caught the kiss – it was so quick! And I find it equally amazing you saw it with happened at 1.30 here!

10 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat April 29, 2011 at 8:13 am

I watched the wedding while I was on the treadmill at the gym this morning and loved it! Such an exciting start to the day. Have a great time at Body Pump this morning and good luck with all the bakery stuff!

    11 Hope April 29, 2011 at 8:14 am

I loved watching the wedding! I thought Kate looked absolutely stunning! I liked how they kissed twice too! So cute! :)

Love your english inspired breakfast. The blue bowl is perfect for this morning :)

12 Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food April 29, 2011 at 8:17 am

Goodness I can only imagine the nervousness they must feel having a wedding in front on the entire world! man… I missed the whole thing too, sleep was worth it with a half marathon on Sunday!

that drippy sunflower seed butter looks AMAZING!

13 Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me April 29, 2011 at 8:22 am

OH man, I could care less about this wedding stuff, haha. I’m pumped about this nice weekend!

    14 Melissa April 29, 2011 at 8:24 am

I wasn’t super into the wedding, but it’s nice that they kissed! Makes it seem a little less transactional, ya know? I can’t imagine having an intimate wedding with the whole world watching! 😉

    15 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) April 29, 2011 at 8:26 am

I only saw the end of it while I did my strength training. I loved the music and her dress! Have a great day Kath!

    16 Meg April 29, 2011 at 8:26 am

Beautiful linens from your Grandmother :)

    17 Lisa Fine April 29, 2011 at 8:26 am

Days like this are one of the few times that I’d like to have television, but we watched some recaps on the internet this morning.

Love that you made “Royal Wedding” oats – so cute. Enjoy the beautiful weather! We’re going to have some too, all weekend long. Thank goodness.

    18 Liz @ Tip Top Shape April 29, 2011 at 8:31 am

I love all the wedding coverage on all the blogs this morning!!! How lucky that you were able to capture that kiss!

    19 Jen @ keepitsimplefoods April 29, 2011 at 8:35 am

Glad you caught a glimpse of the ceremony! I completely slept through. :(

    20 Abby April 29, 2011 at 8:37 am

I have loved every minute of this wedding coverage! :) So amazing!

    21 Krissy @ Shiawase Life April 29, 2011 at 8:49 am

    happy weekend!

    22 Valerie @ City|Life|Eats April 29, 2011 at 8:58 am

How fun – I totally missed it, but seems like many bloggers and people were watching.

    23 Cait's Plate April 29, 2011 at 8:59 am

Yay! We have a warm upcoming weekend ahead as well. I’m so excited for it.

Love that you captured one of their kisses (there were two!) – she looks SO beautiful and I’m so happy for them.

PS – if I had to choose between being Kate Middleton and those Wedding Oats? I think I might go with the oats! They look so good!!

    24 Cait @ Beyond Bananas April 29, 2011 at 8:59 am

Wedding Oats – how cute. I only watched a tiny bit of the ceremony because I was on my way out the door to work – I saw Kate enter the church and she looked stunning!

    25 artemesia April 29, 2011 at 9:01 am

Warmest congrats on the wedding and of course the lucky couple. The food looks scrumptious. Didn’t see the TV show. Didn’t know it was on until I read this blog. You are a talented vegan cook.
Make it a wondrous day Kate.

    26 KathEats April 29, 2011 at 2:54 pm

I’m not a vegan cook!! But thanks anyways!

    27 Marieke May 3, 2011 at 5:44 am

You call Kath a vegan cook when she obviously uses milk in her breakfast (and you would easily be able to see from older posts she eats meat) and then you call her Kate? Sometimes read a bit before you comment perhaps?

    28 Mom April 29, 2011 at 9:04 am

    Love the hats!

    29 Maria April 29, 2011 at 9:08 am

I DVR’d it so I will be watching it when I get home later!

    30 khushboo April 29, 2011 at 9:09 am

Wedding oats- haha love it! In spirit of the Royal Wedding, my snack was clotted cream, jam and fresh strawberries…oh wait I mean Greek yog, fruit preserves + strawbs! :)

    31 Emily G. April 29, 2011 at 12:49 pm

hehe! Your real snack sounds much more appealing!! :)

32 Lauren at Keep It Sweet April 29, 2011 at 9:12 am

I got to watch a little bit of the wedding while at the gym, it is pretty romantic!

    33 J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) April 29, 2011 at 9:20 am

I didn’t see any of it! I haven’t been following other than 3rd party tidbits from my mom. heh

I love waking up with a jolt, though! The feeling of being 8-years-old on Christmas morning, but when you’re an adult, is pretty awesome! haha

34 alana (at) the food April 29, 2011 at 9:24 am

    i didn’t think i was a royal watcher person…..until this MORNING!
they looked so happy and sweet on each other!

    35 kim April 29, 2011 at 9:24 am

I meant to wake up super early and head to the gym while watching on the treadmill. It didnt happen, but at least I caught some of it before heading into work.

I was in cville for work on wednesday and SOMEHOW stumbled across your bakery location – I think I even spotted Matt working inside! It looks huge in there :)

    36 KathEats April 29, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Oh how fun!!! You should have snagged Matt for a hello – he would have been excited :)

    37 Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing April 29, 2011 at 9:26 am

I love that you tried to keep the theme and find some English tea 😉 hehe.

38 Audrey Ellen @ My Scene and Herd April 29, 2011 at 9:28 am

while you have many great oatmeals, this one looks particularly regal!

    39 Caroline @ French Ponytail April 29, 2011 at 9:54 am

I woke up in time to catch the kiss too! Cute, if a little perfunctory. My sister then called me up to complain that I hadn’t managed to find a prince for a boyfriend and release her from her life of drudgery. Anyway – nice pics! You always manage to make oatmeal look so appealing, which can’t be an easy task.

    40 Justeen @ Blissful Baking April 29, 2011 at 9:56 am

I haven’t been too interested in the royal festivities, but I definitely want to see the replays!

    41 Beth @ DiningAndDishing April 29, 2011 at 10:01 am

I just loved the wedding! This kiss was the only part I caught live so that was extra exciting :). I think the Royal family is about to get a whole lot more interesting again!

42 Taylor (Delish World) April 29, 2011 at 10:11 am

Loved the wedding! Watched the beginning at the gym, and caught the kiss before work! It made my morning! :)

    43 Roxana @ Makeup Fanatic April 29, 2011 at 10:11 am

Glad you caught some of it! I made the mistake of waking up 2 hours earlier than I needed to…haha.
I want to be a princess now!

    44 Chad April 29, 2011 at 10:26 am

Ahhh seeing sunflower butter gets me all warm and fuzzy!

    45 Chelsea April 29, 2011 at 10:29 am

I woke up thinking “I am missing it” to! All night I dreamed about it and getting up early to watch it…lol! It was so lovely and made me so misty eyed! Enjoy your 75 degree day and I’ll enjoy my 35 degree day :(

    46 Angel7 April 29, 2011 at 10:32 am

I actually got up around 5:30AM to watch the The Royal Wedding. And I am glad that I did not get up any earlier, because I just wanted to see a little bit of the hoopla before she went down the aisle, not everything. The wedding was beautiful, and she looked stunning!

The Wedding Oats were perfect for the occasion :)

    47 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table April 29, 2011 at 10:35 am

I was so embarrassed that I actually woke up for the wedding that I multi-tasked and got my workout in early. :)

    Wasn’t her dress awesome?!

    48 AShley April 29, 2011 at 10:35 am

Oooh, royal oats indeed! I missed the whole wedding. I think I would have had to get up at 2am to see it here, haha. I went to bed at 1am, so maybe I just should have stayed up. Have a great weekend!!

    49 Laurel April 29, 2011 at 10:37 am

Of course we watched the wedding – and loved every moment. I even woke up my daughters early!

    50 lynn @ the actor's diet April 29, 2011 at 10:54 am

aw! i totally missed it but i’m sure there will be plenty of recaps!

51 [email protected] Sweet Touch April 29, 2011 at 10:58 am

I loved the double kiss, it was a true storybook wedding!

I love these kind of celebrations when the whole world seems to come together for a happy occasion!

    52 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin April 29, 2011 at 11:13 am

I missed the actual wedding too but I started watching it when I woke up at 7. I”m glad I got to see the kiss! It was so sweet. 😀

    53 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey April 29, 2011 at 11:39 am

I missed the kiss! I was en route to work! :(

54 Jumanah @ Healthy Living in the Middle East April 29, 2011 at 11:47 am

I watched the entire thing while working on some other things. It was easy for me though, since it started at noon our time. Her dress was so classic! Loved it!

    55 Megan April 29, 2011 at 11:49 am

Kath- I’m in love with the clock on your wall. Where did you get it?!

    56 KathEats April 29, 2011 at 2:55 pm

Target, I think, a few years ago

57 Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope April 29, 2011 at 11:54 am

I’m studying for finals right now, so I opted out of the wedding watching, but it’s such a fun event even for us in the US! Glad you got to catch a bit of it!

    58 Natalia - a side of simple April 29, 2011 at 12:06 pm

Cute theme for this morning :) Very “English” with the votes for women mug (reminds me of Mary Poppins!) and the fresh linens and tea spoon!

    59 kaila @ healthy helper! April 29, 2011 at 12:13 pm

It’s just a good day. They looked so happy and it was actually really fun watching the events!

    60 Emily @ Savory and Savage April 29, 2011 at 12:17 pm

Lol, I am still waiting to see the kiss :-)

The two of them look very happy.

Loved the spoon you used this morning.

    61 laurie April 29, 2011 at 12:35 pm

I know you are so busy but I’ve been wondering if you think that getting a food processor is a good idea if I already have a Vitamix. I want to start making my own nut butters, hummus, banana soft serve, raw dessert balls, etc. Does a food processor handle these kinds of foods better than a Vitamix? Thanks for your time, Kath, and for ALL you do!!

    62 KathEats April 29, 2011 at 2:56 pm

I really like having both. The FPs are only about $129 – a lot less than the Vita-mix! I don’t think you can do chunky things as well in the vitamix – like nut butters. You can also slice and grate in a FP. I think it’s a good investment!

    63 laurie April 29, 2011 at 3:52 pm

    Thank you, Kath!:)

    64 Joanne April 29, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I watched the wedding from 5:50 to 7:15. Darn it all – I had to miss the kiss! I was actually waiting for it right after they were pronounced but then again, that’s just not the English way.

    65 Rachel @ The Avid Appetite April 29, 2011 at 1:01 pm

Love your royal wedding linens :) I think Wills and Kate would approve.

    66 Kathleen @ KatsHealthCorner April 29, 2011 at 1:02 pm

Your oats are PERFECT for a day like this! 😀

    67 Baking Books April 29, 2011 at 1:09 pm

How do you make your tea? You don’t just turn on a kettle?

If the bakery and blog thing don’t work out (which, uh, who are we kidding? it IS) – then please foray into photography.

You make me want to eat your linens…;)

    68 Maggie April 29, 2011 at 1:28 pm

Hey Kath – Your oatmeal always looks WONDERFUL and I would love to steal some of your recipes, but I can’t eat bananas. Do you have any recipes that don’t use bananas, or do you have any recommendations of what to substitute? OR, can I just leave it out?

    69 KathEats April 29, 2011 at 2:56 pm

You can just leave it out – but pumpkin is a great subs! Or chopped apples or pears too. I have a few recipes that use other fruits on the tribute page.

    70 Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous April 29, 2011 at 1:28 pm

I woke up with a jolt, too…but by 6 a.m. Pacific Time, the wedding was long over! I did catch all of the highlights on Good Morning America, though…beautiful!

71 Jenny (Fit Girl Foodie) April 29, 2011 at 1:34 pm

No worries they’ll be replaying the wedding for months to come :) Love the breakfast, yum 😀

    72 [email protected] April 29, 2011 at 1:56 pm

Mmmmm your oats look so good~ yeah like Jenny said, I’m sure we’ll hear about it till our ears fall off 😛

    73 Laura Jane April 29, 2011 at 2:20 pm

I didn’t watch the wedding this morning, but I did watch some highlights later. Of course the kiss was included in the highlights! So nice to wake up to sun!

74 Kate (What Kate is Cooking) April 29, 2011 at 2:22 pm

We’re three hours behind you, so I missed the kiss! I caught it on Youtube though :) So cute!

    75 Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) April 29, 2011 at 2:40 pm

Love the kiss picture. We should call you lucky trigger fingers :)

Hope you had a good body pump class!

    76 Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife April 29, 2011 at 2:53 pm

    Yah for the royals!! :)

    77 Sandy April 29, 2011 at 3:11 pm

I watched part of the wedding, took my walk and got back just in time to see the kiss. I loved her dress and her smile. She was just beaming. I feel so connected to all of the other women in the world who were following, messaging, texting and talking about the details. I love weddings but this one was stunning in Westminster Abbey.

78 Pearl (Crunch and Chew) April 29, 2011 at 9:41 pm

I watched 7 hours straight of live coverage – couldn’t get enough!

    79 Hannah April 30, 2011 at 12:39 am

Luckily for us down under, the wedding occured between 8pm – 11pm, so it made for a lovely night. Pretty dress!
