After an afternoon selling bread with these turkeys…
And a Carrot Raisin Walnut snack…
I biked home, showered and packed up to heat to Veritas Vineyards to meet a group of friends for their monthly Starry Nights event – music, picnics, wine!
Unfortunately there were more raindrops than stars in the sky
We picked up some wine glasses and a bottle
Took a sip..
And had to immediately relocate to the tasting room to fight off the downpour of storms : (
However, we had a great group of friends and played “pass the bread” for entertainment!
Followed by “pass the cookies!”
When the rain let up, we ventured back outside, but alas, it started to pour again. It was just not our night!
Eventually, with grumbling stomachs and many open bottles of wine, we set up our picnic on the tasting room floor
We brought the bread along with a tomato, cucumber, corn + garlic gold salad – which went with cheeses, a bean salad, a corn salad, grapes, watermelon, peaches and chicken wings
Here’s Matt’s attempts to get me making us a plate to share!
Cheers
We shared a delicious plate of salads
A couple glasses of wine…
…and waaaay too many Great Harvest sweets. BLONDIES! Cookies! I’m not tired of them yet..
In between rainshowers we were able to listen to some amazing New Orleans blues and snuck in a dance or two.
Here’s to a long night’s sleep on a rainy evening!

Looks like the good food and wine made up for bad weather, that spread looks pretty delicious, and all the more so because of the tasty sweet treats.
in vino veritas! I love that quote, do they sell those wine glasses??
You took the words out of my mouth! I was going to ask the same thing. What a great saying!
I think they do but only in the tasting room
I’m beginning to feel like rain was the forecast everywhere tonight! Indoor picnics are always fun, though. Picnics on the porch as well (good way to stay out of the rain but still out of the house).
awww sorry about the rain, but it looks like it didn’t deter the fun too much!! Love me a plate of delicious, different salads!
Pass the carbs and cookies are totally games I could get on board with!
That looks so fun and delicious! Love the “Save a Cow, Eat a Carb” shirt.
Ooo! pass the cookies! My favorite game
Despite the rain, looks like a perfect night to me! Good food, good wine, and food friends…love it!
“Save a cow, eat a carb” – love it!!
Wine and Great Harvest to the rescue! You guys are troopers!
That dress looks great on you Kath!
Thanks!
Haha i need to get myself that “eat a carb” shirt
The food looks good even if the weather wasn’t! I am lovin’ these rainy days. Sure beats hot, hot, hot.
Wow you went to Starry Nights tonight? I usually go to every one but decided to sit this one out due to the weather tonight. Still looked like a good time though! I ended up at the Charlottesville Ladies Arm Wrestling fundraiser at Blue Moon then late night drinks at the packed Zocalo. If you haven’t been to CLAW, it’s such a fun time
Happy weekend!
oh fun!!! I’m sure we’re going to cross paths soon!
even though it’s nice enough to eat outside every day in LA, i want to do an indoor picnic!
Looks like fun! I love that shirt save a cow eat a carb, haha.
I don’t think I would ever get sick of any of the products you guys sell, if only it wasn’t all the way across the country. I might have to stop by the temecula one eventually.
Sorry the weather wasn’t better for you! Looks like you had fun anyway
I have to ask…since all your GH products look so good…WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE?! how can you even choose haha? They just all look yummy!
Cville crunch aka flax oat Bran and carrot raisin walnut muffins!
your rainy evening festivities look great! The pic of the couple with wine in their hands, just chilling and lounging, ahhhh….everyone looks so mellow and relaxed. Love it!
And the opening pic…you have adorable employees, Kath
To bad about the weather! glad you got some delish eating in though! haha
Rain calls for carbs everytime! It is so comforting! Oh and then the carbs should be followed by a nap!
Hey – great pipes. Looks like you’ve been rockin’ the weights in Body Pump. And truer words were never spoken (pun intended) – in wine, truth.
Agreed- your arms look awesome I take a simnilar class at my gym. How many times do you go per week?
Thanks. I go twice a week and try to use as heavy weights as I can stand
Kath – I’ve been a reader of yours for about 3 months now…delurking!! As a new blogger, I am always impressed that you can turn out three posts a day, and good ones at that! How do you find the time?!?
Btw, LOVE that dress – you look beautiful in it!
Thanks!
The blog is my job, so I find the time
Although blogging at midnight is never fun!
I would imagine personal preferences have to do with it as well – you can set your own “hours” in reality
– as there a few bloggers that do this full-time but only blog once or twice a day. You would be successful whether you posted 2 or 3 times a day I’m sure.
I think it’s healthy to unplug at night – and to encourage readers to do so as well! It’s good to get back to simpler times.
Everyone loves blondies, pastries and humans!
Love the Save a Cow Eat a Carb shirt too! When can we buy one from you or GH??
Maybe in the future. We’d have to order them all in advance, so it might get a bit tricky if no one buys them and we have 100 extra shirts
I’d buy 2!
Love all your pictures from last night!! Can’t wait to hang out again
Top of the Hops, if not before!!
Note the spoon is in the tomatoes!! That means it came inside. I bet Kara has it!
I saw that! I’m sure she has it, we’ll get it back to ya
I do have it! And it’s even clean.
Oh yayyyyyyyy!!!!! I’ll find a time to get it from you – or maybe I’ll just walk over after Sept 7
Anything works for me! My email is kara.rosenthal @ gmail if you want to coordinate over email.
Hiding out from the rain with a bunch of friends and good eats sounds like an entertaining night to me!
As a retired Latin scholar (that term is used loosely, haha) – I have to say that my favorite part of this post was the wine glass with the “In Vino Veritas” <—so true and I want that glass.
Glad you had a fun night (and I don't blame you for not being sick of GH sweets, I don't think I'd be either)
Reminds me of being a camp counselor and having to come up with interesting things to do in the Great Hall with everyone!
I would love that tshirt as an Open Sky offer!
You are showing some amazing upper body strength and tone in that dress!
A bunch of friends and I went to the Tim McGraw concert last night and feared the rain- we were fortunate and lucked out! Sorry you didn’t have as much luck
At least you were still able to have fun despite the rain! Rain won’t ruin every parade
