Our weather is changing faster than Julie Andrews morphs from Mary Poppins into Maria von Trapp!
We’ve gone from 50* to 28*, from rain to sun, in a matter of minutes. That’s February for you!
Today’s amazing oatmeal blend involved lots of flours flowers
Cherry blossoms in the bowl and tulips on the table

Watcha reading?
Your pictures look VERY spring-like, even if your weather says otherwise!
Lonesome Dove
Ooh I hear that’s really good.
Aw, that’s one of my favorites! I read it in a high school Novels class, and it remains one of my faves! After you finish it, you have to rent the movie!
Gorgeous flowers! And I know – we were told to prepare for a snow day, and its almost 50º outside!
Your beakfast has me craving a nice warm bowl of oats right now! Glad you got to read some of your book too! : )
I’m so ready for spring. I’m holding on to the fact that the groundhog didn’t see his shadow.
Very vivid & beautiful photos today
I wish we had sun coming in through the window! All we have are wind and snow
I’m jealous-we’re covered in ice in nyc. again, love those tulips!!! so springy.
I am so ready for Spring! Even my husband, who loves winter, is ready for spring!
Your oatmeal does look extra fluffy this morning! Yum!
I’m so so tired of all the snow! Those spring like days are such a tease!!
I’m so over this cold weather! Ready for Spring to spring!
LOVE tulips- gorgeous!
I’m SO ready for spring. The weather in NYC is absolutely depressing.
I hear ya on the “when will spring be here” thing! There’s definitely no signs of it this morning where I am! Your tulip photo is so gorgeous Kath. have a great day!
Those tulips look so happy. I think I need some pretty flowers for the apartment:-)
Oh Wow! Your tulips are at their peak today…so pretty. I am glad I’m not the only person who puts jam in their oats! It’s delicious
I can’t wait for spring either!
Our weather here has been bipolar too! Gotta love the Winter/Spring transition
Love that bowl – and the oats look fabulous, as always.
ugh – i can’t wait for spring!!!
Those tulips are so beautiful. I need to get some flowers for the house–we tend to have them around in Spring/Summer, but not Fall/Winter. It should probably be the reverse–we need the color much more in Winter!
I am just like that coffee mug. Staring out the window and hoping for sunshine and spring.
I bought that bowl last month on sale from HomeGoods! Love the cherry blossom pattern.
Your oats are making me feel all warm and cozy inside. Looks like the perfect start to get your motor running on these cold days. We went from 79 degrees on Sunday to 21 degrees this morning – UGH!!!
Absolutely lovely photos! I’m like that mug, staring out the window wondering when spring will come when all I see is snow with another blizzard on the way. Soon, right? Maybe? Before we know it we’ll be so hot we’ll beg for a bit of cool weather.
I love the photos this morning! They look very spring-like! Those oats look so yummy! I love the bowl! It’s so cute! I love bowls with fun prints on them!
Those flowers are so pretty
We have been having crazy weather here too! The temps keep going up and down. I’m so with you on the “When will spring get here?” thing
Glad you were able to get a little reading in!
Just hearing the word Spring makes my heart hurt!
Spring is coming and I am so ready.
I LOVE all your bowls and mugs. They are friggin adorable
for the wheat berries–do you just add them “raw” or do you cook them first?
They are cooked in bulk in advance, stored in tupperware and added to oats as needed
I love the bowl! Super cute!
Seriously! When will spring be here?! Hopefully it will be soon, especially since Mr. Punxitawney Phil said so:)
Hi Kath! Tulips are my fav! They are so pretty!
I have an oats question.
When I make oats for me and the hubbie this is the mix I use:
1/3 oats
1/3 oat bran
1/3 milk
1/3 water
1 thin sliced banana
Sometimes I find that I don’t have enough liquid and the oats end up kind gummy. When you make yours for one, I notice you have 1/3 oats milk AND water. Can you help me adjust this liquid problem?
I greatly appreciate your help! Love your blog!
Oops! I meant to write this!
2/3 oats/oatbran
2/3 milk
2/3 h2o
1 sliced whole banana
This is how I make it, and I don’t ever have enough liquid, its gets gummy and I have to add more water.
Thanks! Sorry for posting twice!
I think you should double your liquid!! I’ve been adding a bit more water (same amount of milk) for when I use oatbran, as I think it requires a bigger water:grain ratio than regular oats do. Just add more – it may take slightly longer to cook, but you’ll get more volume.
Thanks so much! I’ll try to double the H20 tomorrow! <3
I’ve been using 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 squashed banana and it turns out perfect every time, I just add whatever more I fancy. Maybe it depends on the type of oats as well? I use Scottish oats.
Your oats always look so tasty!!
Those flowers are so vibrant and beautiful! Wow!
When you add cottage cheese… does the “small curd” really stand out or does it smooth out? I have an irrational fear of cottage cheese, but that oatmeal looks deliciously fluffy!
I’d say it MOSTLY smooths out but there are curds visible. Don’t be afraid! Just get a good organic cottage cheese (I like Whole Foods’ and Organic Valley’s) and skip that fat-free mumbo jumbo.
I so agree. I use organic yoghurt and it’s full fat, so much better than low fat and it fills me up so much more. It feels more nourishing somehow! I love this brand in the UK:

Tulips just scream spring!
Happy day!
I’m loving the last picture….it looks like something staged for a magazine. You have an amazing eye for beauty. And the oatmeal looks yummy too. Can’t wait to get to a store to buy stuff to start making your awesome oatmeal recipies…..after we get unburied from the ice and snow.
Thanks Laura
I want me some tulips! And don’t mind if I get your oats too
Lovely pictures! I am very much looking forward to spring, too. Hope you and Matt have a great day!
Boo to some horrible winter weather – I’m feeling the winter crunch over here too!
6″ of snow overnight and it’s still snowing now!
I have a set of plates that look almost like the exact same pattern of your bowls
I try to position my food so I can still see the patterns!
Jessica
Fresh flowers bring such a lovely ambiance to the table!
so lovely…spring will come early, supposedly — as a blizzard whirs snow around outside my window right now, I’m having a hard time agreeing…but I love the snow.
Kath, you need to buy some rosewater to go in your oats! It lends such a lovely springtime flavour
At least the groundhog saw his shadow today! So that means that spring is coming soon!
Spring is just radiating from those pictures. Makes me long for the sunshine!
