Puddles Of KERF

November 1, 2009

Had another amazing yoga class at Y2Y with Amanda + Emily. I bought a 5-class pass and we’re planning to make it a fairly regular Sunday morning event. Love that I have friends that I can go with!

The 90 minute class flew flowed by and by the end I had – literally – puddles of sweat all around me, on my block, and my towel was full of 5 pounds of liquid. Ewww, but cool!

Loved the music in class again!! Especially the Sarah McLaughlin and Beatles “Imagine” during Pigeon – my very favorite pose.Towards the end of class Tanner dimmed the lights for a long hold of frog pose and put a comedian – Jim  Gaffigan – on the sound system. It was totally HILARIOUS all about cake and was totally calling out to me and my mini cupcakes of last night and pancake breakfast!! I giggled the whole way through. Listen to it here!! Promise it’s worth a listen :)

Here is our lovely post-yoga iPhonetography -

Upon returning home and OMing in a hot shower, I pulled out yesterday’s Dean + Deluca salad for lunch.

Mostly veggies with huge luscious pockets of goat cheese and a scattering of chickpeas + olives. Mmmmm!

On the side I had a toasted slice of Flax Oat Bran with pumpkin butter

And the rest of my Vega sport drink for hydration

Currently sipping hot tea on this gray day and about to study my a$$ off. See you for a fun dinner!

As a Beatles nerd, I feel compelled to correct you: Imagine is a solo John Lennon song. :) But a class that plays that music sounds like a great class! Good luck with your studying!

I’m still lovin’ you child size jacket, it’s so cute! I feel like if your workout ends with puddles of sweat, it was a success. Rock on.

Good luck studying!

I’m shocked at how well your salad stayed overnight! It still looks great.

Jim Gaffigan is freakin’ hilarious – I love his stuff. It would be great to have a comedy yoga class, wouldn’t it? Just to get some laughs out while doing some stretching. That would most definitely be a class I’d attend.

I LOVE Jim Gaffigan!!! I see him perform live around the city all the time. He’s a nice guy, too!

Also, that salad looks remarkably satisfying and delicious.

Maybe I should take up hot yoga; I sure could use a puddle of sweat extracted now and then. :)

That picture on the top right side of the blog is very cool- I don’t know how all that techy stuff works, but it’s neat that it changes each day!

Sounds like a fun class. I love Gaffigan! I wish he got more time on My Boys. Then again, the few scenes he’s in are always hilarious. Maybe they don’t want to give us to much of a good thing :)

I LOVE that Jim Gaffagan bit! That’s hilarious she played that during frog pose :P I find great yoga instructors can sometimes be hard to come by, but it’s so awesome when you finally find one. Good luck studying…

Jim Gafffagan is soooo funny! I saw him at Clemson last year and it was totally worth the drive from Charlotte. I have to add “ditto” to the person above who said you should hear his bit on hot pockets. It is what he is known for and is extremely funny.

Hi Kath, I have a quick question about the oatmeal pancakes, which look delicious! If I make them with regular oats, as opposed to quick oats, do I soak just the oats and egg whites overnight, or do I soak everything, except the mashed bananas? Can make ahead several pancakes ahead of time and freeze them? Thanks! Elizabeth

Pidgeon is your favorite pose? I think its more like my nemesis. :-) They do say that the poses that are hardest are the ones you learn the most from, and I’m slowly learning to love the challenge.

Greenearth,
Welcome!

elizabeth,
The only thing you can’t add in advance is the baking powder. Otherwise, it’s fine to prep them in advance. If you don’t soak overnight and do use rolled oats, you still want to let them soak up as much as possible. Yes, they freeze and thaw, although they are not quite as good!
