You know how streusel and crumble is the best part of any pie, crisp or muffin? This morning I deconstructed an Apple Streusel Tea Cake (= maximum surface area of streusel) that I picked up from our Saturday leftovers yesterday. Crunchy, buttery streusel topping was SO delicious on top of pumpkin yogurt and banana! Served with a dollop of peanut butter.

What substance is more appealing than butter crunch? FOAM! Made a Vanilla Mint Tea Latte with my new IKEA frother. I’m sure I’ll get tired of doing it with time, but so fun for now! I heated 1/4 cup milk in a glass in the microwave for 26 seconds and then frothed away. 30 seconds later..

My left foot (surgery foot) is quite stiff this morning, as is my right hip. Already feel much looser after being up and about though. I’m surprised I’m not MORE sore after 9 miles, half of them straight uphill!

Have a fab Monday!

You should open up your own breakfast cafe with your KERF oats varieties (of course) and your numerous other yummy eats. And you should serve them all in beautiful dishes with pretty silverware. I know I’d be there all the time! :)

I have a milk frother but I only used it a few times… totally forgot about it, thanks for the reminder! I’ve been loving hot chocolate lately and I think a little froth would bring it to the next level. Have a great day!

I can’t believe you aren’t more sore! I’d probably be in bed begging someone to bring me coffee! Apple streusel might motivate me to move though. :)

Pottery Barn will forever remind me of the epic Friends episode. “It’s from the day’s of yore….”

I agree on streusel and crumble being the best part! This sounds so good!! And I’m thinking a frother might just be my next new kitchen gadget must-have. :)

I think that strussel topping definitely makes your breakfast. It looks so good! I am jealous of the froth in your coffee. I need to buy one of those things! :)

How much was the Ikea frother? I’ll have to make a trip over to mine to find one!

I need to check Ikea, I have seen a few in the store and they are $20 plus and that just seems too expensive.

I LOVE frothed milk, but have never made it at home. That’s one reason I treat myself to go out for coffee on occasion. But it would be so much smarter to do it at home! I’m going to look out for one. Thanks for the idea.

Beware the 48-hour effect!! Though you’re probably super strong from all your Body-Pumpin’ (hahaha first I typed “Body Pumpkin”! :)) and so you’ll suffer minimal effects!

You’ve got me addicted to pumpkin (I’ve ordered pumpkin granola bars with our weekly veggie delivery)! Where’d you get/how’d you make pumpkin yogurt?

Reply

41 KathEats October 17, 2011 at 3:22 pm

I just stir together equal parts plain yogurt and canned pumpkin!

Reply

42 Jenn October 17, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Then that’s what I’ll do! Except with fresh pumpkin (they’re in season here in Toronto).

Your breakfasts always look so darn amazing. Makes me want to make this for dinner tonight! I agree that streusel is the BEST part of any pie/muffin etc. I made a coffee cake for my husband to take to his coworkers last week and he had to keep me from picking all of the streusel off the top. :)
