Pizza Anytime

September 8, 2010

Pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at lu-unch time!

When pizza’s on Dakota, you can have pizza anytime!

Matt and I combined a run with a bike ride to drop my bike off to get a new handlebar before lunch (I wanted it to be longer for a more leaned-over ride). We biked to the shop (2 miles) and then ran 4.3 miles around town. I’m getting better at hills and didn’t have to stop and walk up any! I’m working on running up the steep ones on the balls of my feet and that seems to help a lot. My pace has still dropped about 30 seconds / mile when I include these big hills, but hopefully that’s making me faster on the flat ground! We made it back to the bike shop in 40 minutes flat and biked the 2 miles back home.

I was one starvin’ marvin’ by the time we sat down to lunch at 1PM. And I’m still starving now 2 hours later after our business meeting! Snack time!

First, a bakery conference call.

And then – OUT TO DINNER tonight!! So so so excited. I love going out to eat and we’ve limited ourselves to twice a week, once during the week and once on the weekends. Of course this "rule" is bendable, but it’s a good guideline. Sure makes humpday more fun!

Lol…bagel bites were so nasty, and I used to BEG my mom to buy them for us. She never would, and now I’m grateful :-)

Have fun at dinner!

Kath your pizza looks fabulous!

My husband and I are down to the “out to eat once per week” rule — going out can be so expensive. I try to make more “special” dinners at home so we don’t feel like we are missing out.

I love that your pizza is lined with eggplant! I’d eat it anytime for sure.

I need to seriously start limiting my meals out…it’s a little out of control at this point. ;) p.s. the piza looks delish!

I love going out to eat too, and we don’t even go twice a week! More like once if we are lucky. I love it!

What a great idea to put eggplant on your pizza! I never thought of that before.

Also, I found your Youtube videos last night and got SUCKED in to watching like 10 of them. Love them!

Ugh I too used to love bagel bites, i’m not sure why! Even as a kid I could tell that the “cheese” was soooooo processed. I think it was the jingle!

I love to go out to eat, too. We try to limit ourselves to only twice monthly, which makes it sooooo exciting when we do go out. Have so much fun!

That pizza looks awesome. Sauce combined with melted cheese is one of the best combinations ever.

I try to follow the same guidelines when it comes to eating out, but its so much fun to try new places! I’m a total foodie and living in NYC makes it hard to stick to those rules, but I’ve definitely improved lately. Now I want to go to eat tonight. I have restaurant envy!

That looks so yummy! Pizza’s are very versatile you can put pretty much anything on them and they are delicious :) We try limiting going out to once a week. We usually go out on Fridays. By the time our work week is over, my hubby doesn’t want to cook and I don’t want to think about what he should make ;) I hope you guys are making progress on the bakery front :)

Question, where do you keep getting all great GH breads> Is Matt still training at location closest?

That’s a good rule. My boyfriend and I are on the “never eat out” plan lol. The upsides are that it makes going out for special occasions feel REALLY special and it encourages us to cook together. Or…eat beans and rice a lot.

My boyfriend and I also try to do the “go out to eat once a week” rule. Since we are both students, it’s hard on our finances to go out more than that.

Lunch looks good! Makes me want to go pick up an eggplant after class :)

I agree that limiting how often you dine out makes it that much more enjoyable. We allow ourselves to eat out once every 2-3 weeks. When the time rolls around to go to a restaurant, we soak up every minute!!

Reply

58 Kris September 8, 2010 at 6:28 pm

When we were young :) , we used to eat out twice a week. Now it’s more like once every two weeks, although we did go out all three nights of the holiday weekend as a mini vacation (but we did it in a very frugal way). I find it easier to maintain healthy eating by eating most meals at home.

The pizzas look ah-mazing! :D I could literally eat pizza every day. So yummy. :D

Oh, and just as a word of caution, be sure to stretch those calves out if you’re increasing your hill running! I know you do plenty of yoga which is great, but I figured I’d throw this little tip out there anyways. I got achilles tendonitis a couple years back when I too quickly increased my hill workouts without stretching my calves out. Not pretty. ;)

I think it’s good to set “going out for dinner” guidelines!
That way it’s easier to stick to a budget and you probably are eating
healthier food at home anyways.
