Just to add to the chorus of shoe-suggestions: Camper shoes are great. I wear the Ariadnas all day on some days and it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing heels. http://shop.camper.com/producto.xhtml?option=21227-005&lng=en

Hi Kath! I've just discovered all of your great info on your website/blog today and am so excited! Definitely have to explore more over the days to come.
I wanted to chime in on the shoe recommendations because I have a hard time finding shoes. I have a high arch, wide feet and I adore cute shoes. Many of the brands previously recommended haven't worked for me in the past so I have fallen for Sofft brand for my dressy work shoes. Love them love them love them. They have great padding and fit my feet. These might work for you. http://www.zappos.com/sofft-saffron-black-velvet-sheep-nappa-patent
For my not as cute shoes, I love Munro American - comfy comfy comfy. I wish they were a little cuter but they feel great all day.
Good luck!

I am a nurse and on my feet all day. I wear Dansko (the open back clogs). Love them!! You must try them on before you buy. The sizes are European, I think. Definitely have a sales clerk to assist you with choosing the correct size. Also, they need a few days to get broken in. They last forever.
Happy shopping!

I love my Clarks. It's my go-to brand now - I've actually converted two people in my office over to Clarks.
I think the most important thing though is finding what brand works for you. Clarks works for me but not for my mom. One thing you might try is ordering a few different styles from Zappos.com It's a great resource for trying on shoes and figuring out what works for you (shipping to you and for a return are free). They also have an incredible return policy - up to 365 days after purchase, which means you can try the shoes on at different times during the day/month since our feet tend to change throughout each day.

If your looking for dressier shoes that are comfy - try a shoe with a wedge heel - the wedge offers more support and you can find them in cute styles that aren't too high. If your looking for more functional - the danskos seem to be the way to go.

Yes, this is the same line that I wear for teaching. I have these, but it looks like they're being discontinued: http://www.zappos.com/product/7414531/color/492

I have Danskos and I LOVE them!! I bought them a year ago because I live in DC and walk everywhere (no car) so I need supportive shoes. They are cute and honestly my feet have never hurt in them. My only complaint is they squeak now when I walk which can be kind of embarrasing! Otherwise I highly reccomend them :).
