I couldn’t think of a more fun way to spend Easter – picnicing with friends in the Virginia countryside!
We started our day with a 5.5 mile run with Faith and Tate. Run that hangover out! Once home, we packed up a picnic and headed out to Jefferson Vineyards where we set up came with our friends.
To pay our dues, we bought a couple of bottles of wine to enjoy with the food
These were perfect for the near-90-degree weather! A semi dry Vin Blanc, which was just slightly sweet, and the Vin Rouge, a lighter red perfect for a hot day.
We also lugged an entire KEG of sparkling water, knowing that most of us would be thirsty! This is the set up we have in our basement – a keg of water that Matt fills from the tap attached to a CO2 tank to keep it bubbly.
I drank so much it made me full!
Our food spread was amazing -
The potluck included:
- Great Harvest Spinach Feta (from our freezer!)
- Cookies and Corks
- Spinach Egg mini quiches
- Fruit pizza
- Giant bean herb salad
- FRUIT!
- Deviled eggs
- Mini ham biscuits
- Hummus, olives, cheese
- Pesto Green Pasta Salad
I made the pasta salad with the Philly Homegrown Severino Pasta – I loved the fun swirly shape plus a big pot of braised greens and mixed with the Pestos with Panache Fig + Gorgonzola plus walnuts. It was excellent!
KERF
Plus a little white wine and lots of sparkling water
I served them on my George Washington plate from my grandmother’s collection since we were on a presidential estate!
We played a few games – bocce for me!
And took romantic scenic photos
Then I feasted on fruit pizza and a few cookies. Krissy made Angela’s fruit pizza and it was incredible!
More fun and games. It was HOT! And I have an awful sunburn to show for it. I was very irresponsible and did not put any sunscreen on my arms or shoulders (only my face) and am in big trouble with myself now.
Happy Easter!

What a fun day! Being outside with friends and fabulous food!
Hopefully, one day when I am finally a homeowner I can invest in a CO2 tank like that! How convenient! Are the tanks pretty expensive?
Enjoy the rest of your Easter!

I love spending holidays with friends sometimes, instead of with family. It doesn’t look like anyone else took advantage of having a picnic at those vineyards. Was anyone else doing the same as you?

Wonderful photos. I am always so impressed with the entirety of your posts. I know I’ve told you this before but I veer everyone I know to your blog as inspiration and an example of how to eat. You really practice what you preach……..and there is a lot of bad preaching going on. Thanks for the continued knowledge and ideas.
Thank you Marie
I love that pic of Matt dipping you- definetely frameworthy!

Hi Kath,
I love the pictures, how do you make them look “antique” like that? I would LOVE to try it!
Thanks and happy Monday
It’s an editing technique in Lightroom. Do you have it?
Way to rock the long dress. That is one reason it’s great to be short… long dresses on me only go to my ankles. I love the photos in this one!
What a fun post!!! So much life in all of the photos.
I love the very past pic of you.
I totally giggled when I read a ‘keg of sparkling water’ LOL…too funny.
So cool that the fruit pizza was made…I forgot all about that little guy.
Thanks for the smile when I am sick!
thanks so much for the great recipe!

That dress is cute on you, Kath! Love the idea of an Easter picnic at a winery with friends. I usually end up spending Easter Sunday on a long drive after a weekend with my family.
That looks amazing
Glad you were able to enjoy with friends!! I need a local vineyard, stat!
