Today was such an awesome chill day!
We spent it with friends
Made a pit stop to Run For Your Life and looked down to see our friend from Davidson, Kelly Fillnow, gracing the cover of a Endurance magazine! [She’s a super athlete and I’m extremely impressed with her 2:57 marathon time and Ironwoman drive!]
I looked underneath that and found ME in a magazine!
My nutrition column for Breathe
For a snack (but mostly to kill time in the sunshine) we stopped into Yoforia for old time’s sake
I got a pineapple with coconut, granola and an animal. Mm!
After a while and some walking around, we made our way back to Caitlin + Kristien’s for a glass of wine on the porch before dinner
I had a small pour of Reisling – sippin in the sun
For dinner, burgers with friends! We had a group of 10 meet us for a casual dinner date at Big Daddy’s
I couldn’t WAIT for one of their famous black bean burgers over a huge salad (they don’t skimp on lettuce here!) with avocado, pepper, tomato, and cuc plus Maytag bleu, walnuts and strawberries on the side. It was everything I’d hoped for!
Time for Brendan James!
The event was at Tremont Music Hall
I got to utilize my nifty La Crema purse holder I got at the Kendall-Jackson event at BlogHer. It hooks onto the edge of a table and holds your purse! I’ve been carrying it around for 2 months waiting for a good time to use it!
The opening act was rather grungy rockish and I didn’t care for them. Bring on the piano man!
Brendan round II was awesome!! He was solo tonight – just piano, no band. But just as nice.
If you haven’t listened yet, go buy his CD now! He plays, writes and sings so artistically. And all three are solid. I’ve loved every song he’s sang! He’s going to be on Rachel Ray on Friday we hear!
Ladies
Andddddddddddd I met Brendan!!! I told him I was a yoga student of Tanner’s, a blogger and that I’ve been tweeting and blogging about how much I love his work. And that I’d seen him in Charlottesville a few weeks before and came for a second round! Caitlin said he seemed flattered. My heart fluttered!
We’re back at Hotel Pinque and Michelle just set up the coffee for the morning.

That is the cutest edible animal I’ve ever seen. My dog is probably cuter, but I refuse to eat her, you see.
super fun night !!
<3 Brendan James…
What a fun day!! I’ll have to check out some of Brendan James’ music!
Question: when you do consume a drink/wine, why do you only pour yourself like half a serving? Do you end up drinking more than you picture? I only ask because I’ve heard that one serving of wine is usually 6 ounces.
A serving is whatever you pour
I usually pour small glasses and have 2-3 of them throughout a night because it helps me drink a bit slower. Last night I had two small pours the size you see photographed, so probably a bit more than half a full-size portion.
I loooooove your top! Mind sharing where you got it? So fun that you got to see him play a 2nd time.
That’s cool that he was sans band! I feel like only one instrument+the artist always makes for amazingly intense concerts!
You definitely get a unique experience seeing artists both ways!
How amazing does it look to just sip wine on a porch with friends?
How fun! Never heard of Brenden will have to check him out
Wine+Run+Yogurt+Shopping. perfect day in my book!
You’ve definitely given brendan a few more listeners! I’ve bought a few of his tracks from itunes after hearing you gush about him. He’s got an amazing voice!

How fun! That black bean burger salad looks amazing!! I would have ordered the same thing. Or, maybe a bun with the burger and that salad on the side.

Hi Kath! I’m a regular reader but I’ve never commented. Buuuut, I feel I need to now because I’m also super-excited about Brendan James and his success, partially because we went to jr. high and high school together — it’s so cool to see him achieving so much. In school we were in a play together, Peter Pan, and of COURSE, he was Peter! Can’t you picture it? He was quite talented, even back then. Ok, that’s my little celeb story for the day.
FUN!!! What was he like
He was funny, kind of a little goofy spaz, but in a good way.
Hyper, always joking around … very different from the smooth piano-man he is today! But his voice was always amazing (though it’s much deeper now, haha.) Also, the last name JAMES is a stage name only!
Oh wow – totally didn’t know that!!
I’ve never heard of Brendan James, but I’ll have to check out his stuff!
Looks like you gals and guys had such a fun night!!
How fun. That salad sounds amazing.
Ow Ow! Brendan is one hunk!
Glad it was such a wonderful relaxing day!
Ps- That Riesling, was that RElax? I just picked up a bottle the other day and LOVED it. Actually, this went down way to easy. The bottle was gone in one sitting. Opps!
Yup!
So awesome! It’s nerve-racking meeting someone in person like that, isn’t it? I’m so glad you go the chance to.
I love your shirt – it is really cute, very flattering!
What a fun day – I’m glad you got to enjoy some time with friends!
This probably sounds wierd but your fro-yo looks so perfect. The yogurt is perfectly swirled and that animal cracker is just too cute! Haha!
You are too funny! What a great day with friends! Sounds like a perfect day! Have a safe trip home Kath!
Is he a friend of Tanner’s too? I don’t understand the connection there.
That salad looks really good -thats not your regular iceberg lettuce/tomato/red onion salad
Tanner is friends with Brendan’s manager. [And so I think Tanner + Brendan are friends too?] And Tanner’s brother was at the concert and I introduced myself because they looked so much alike I thought they were either friends or relatives! [Tanner's on a tropical island right now]
Makes sense! I must have missed you explaining that before!
This is a fun post Kath! Love your little animal friend in your froyo. I think Brendan looks interested in you – look out Matt!
Caitlin posted one of his singles and I loved his song!! It was fun to hear it after I’ve read so much about him on your blog…
Is your shirt from Ann Taylor Loft? I think I saw it there today…I may have to go back and try it on. It is so cute!!
That’s awesome you got to meet him! I wonder if he’ll check out your blog now!
sounds like I super fun day, cool you got to meet him! I have one of those purse hangers, too. I love it!
I would never know what to say when if I met someone ‘famous’. I’ll probably just stutter and act all goofy (especially if they looked like Brendan
).
I just checked out Brendan James’ music – so good! And I bet he was even better live with the piano. You now have earned him another fan
Thanks for sharing the new music!
meh. Matt is way cuter.
ooooo a talented and good-looking piano man..what a combo!
It does look like you had a great day
Times like those are the best.
Love the lil animal cracker, too!
oh he’s dreamy indeed!
I love your blouse – you look fantastic.
How fun! I love Big Daddy’s… and Tremont. And always appreciate being introduced to new music. The perfect Charlotte day!
