Hello, hello!!
A quick lunch recap!
I’m doin’ OK sleep-wise because I’ve been busy. Sure am excited about getting in bed tonight though
but I have to pack first, which won’t be fun.
We pulled out the last of the leftover veggies for lunch. I had some roots + squashes. Mmm mm. Plus a slice of Great Harvest bread with hummus and a grapefruit that I brought from home.
I’m really enjoying getting to know my coworkers and can already tell I will miss them when my time here is over
I’m working on my inservice use + safety document for the new Robo-Coupe (featuring Tony’s famous hands!) and some nutrient analysis reports this afternoon and then it’s weeked time!
(sorry for the sideways photo!!)

nice gloves too! way to be sanitary!
those veggies have won my heart…so delish and colorful! i’m so excited to “go” to NYC with you
Any chance you can get them to stop using the styrofoam plates?
Hey Kath, I know you are very “help the world”-y, so I wanted to let you and your readers know that I am trying to raise some money for the relief efforts in Haiti.
In hopes that others will make donations to any of the great charity organizations that are helping out, I have pledged $2 for every comment on this post where you tell me how you helped out Haiti.
Great cause Seth
It is great that you are loving the job AND your coworkers! That is so important!!
Those veggies look phenomenal!
Being busy makes time go by fast! So glad you’re enjoying your time there!
Have a great weekend
delicious colourful lunch again! Who wouldv’e thought school food could be so healthy!! Glad you’re not too tired
Ohhh, that bread! It looks lovely. I need it.
Aww..looks delish!! Sleep well tonight.
. friday night sleep is the best!!
Lunch looks awesome… As always! Hope you have a safe and wonderful trip to NYC
i wish my high school would’ve served lunches like that! daaaaang.
Are you posting from your iphone? Just wondering why your photos are smaller than usual. Glad to hear you’re liking the co-workers – I think that’s really important and a key factor in liking where you work.
Yep!! Sorry the quality is poor – it’s the best I can do!
Hey Kath! I made savory oats for lunch today, and thought of you (Queen of Oats)!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Mmmm mm!
I hate to say this because I sound obnoxious as heck but I had a question/subsequent green suggestion. Are you at the same location for lunch most days at this job? Because maybe you could bring a pretty, easy to rinse plate to store in your desk for lunches. I remembered you saying you didn’t love the styrofoam usage so I thought I’d suggest it.
I thought of this yesterday and plan to put it into practice. I will only be able to do it when we eat in the office because when I’m in the schools I can’t really hand my plate over the sanitary line, but it will at least help some.
You seriously make veggies look tasty! Which is saying a lot for me, because I’ve grown up hating vegetables! Although we’re starting become friends now….
Have fun!
Lunch looks awesome!
Looks yummy per usual
so colorful! the bread gets me every time
I was wondering why you dont include onions in your recipies and pick them out of foods? Do you not like them, or is there another reason?
I just hate the taste and smell with a passion
Looks so good! I wish my school had food like that when I was in school!
I have to say- I am BEYOND impressed with the school food! I have very very different memories from my school caf food!
Yummy lunchhh! Your almost done for the weekend
Jenna
I SO want that GH bread with hummus. That’s the best looking combo ever.
These school-tray lunches are fun. But my eats away from home are never complete without a good “bar” (dessert?) Speaking of, I just reviewed the organic Bora Bora bars on my blog today — fruit + nut — you may want to try those sometime!
All these posts make me miss the cafeteria food I ate in high school. My high school was really good at having delicious and healthy food. It would be so much easier than it is now when I have to pack my lunch!
I still can’t believe that’s cafeteria food. I’m seriously impressed.
It’s so great that you’re becoming close with your co-workers. Work flies by 100000 x faster when you’re having fun and like the people around you!
I wish I could eat grapefruit. It’s soooooo bitter to me. Love your root veggies.
Yum- lunch looks good!
You’ve almost made it through week one!! Have a great weekend!
Hey Kath!
Have fun in NYC!!! I’m actually a walking zagat when it comes to NYC restaurants so if you want any recommendations or reviews . . . let me know!!!
Seriously, if you know you’re going to be in a certain area and don’t just wanna walk into some place, let me know and I’d be more than happy to lend some advice
Another yummy lunch — too bad they are served on Styrofoam and not a more environmentally-friendly material (or reusable) but nothing is perfect.
Aw, I’m glad your liking your internship! (and more importantly the people that surround you all day!!)
TWO THINGS:
1) I don’t like the styrofoam either, but the good news is they are starting to research reusable, washable trays. Having worked in the cafeterias, I can attest that the switch is not easy and will require a lot more than just money, but it’s on the radar.
2) Just an FYI, the past two days lunches haven’t been FROM the cafeteria – they were leftovers from a catered lunch. But the veggies are potential menu items
Hey Kath, speaking of squash, I have a question. I always steam acorn or butternut & recently bought some kabocha it gets so dry!! Have you tried steaming it? I didnt find it much better in the oven…Do you find this too?
I have yet to try kabocha!
It sounds like you are having such a great time! That’s what happens when you do what you love for work I guess… it’s almost not even work!
