So much fun with lots of friends!!!!!!!! The theme of the night was "orange" and "beer." Also, good soups were had, delicious appetizers, lots of drinks, lots of chatter.
We threw open the French doors…
…Stocked up on seltzers and wine, plus a few bottled beers
…Sung to the kegs
And beer came out!
…Crockpotted Karen’s Chili and a Curried Butternut Squash. Both are now gone!
A big ole salad with apple, pear and sunflower seeds
With homemade dressing
Plus a bunch of snacky foods (including Matt Cracks!)
Veggies + Bright Basil Bean Dip galore!
Cookies!
Cleaned the kitchen!
Decorated
Guests arrived!

I ate a thousand veggies in bean dip and chips and crackers, plus a cup of soup, some beer, some wine. I am SO FULL at the moment!!
TWO of these fabulous cookies! The recipe is a true winner.
We were given a few really fun gifts – UVA flowers from Steph and some Pistachio Rosewater Cookies from Cara that are like peanut brittle (and a few other fun edibles!).
[Cara, I LOVE the texture and the rose smells faintly like hops!] Had to break in for dessert #2
What was once labeled as an empty space for dirty dishes is now covered. Excuse us!

You thought of everything! I love how you labeled the place for dirty dishes! What a great thought!
What a fun party
This is the perfect weather for chili and butternut squash soup!
Even your shirt matches the partay! You sure know how to throw a delicious dinner party. I wish I lived in Cville right about now (or 5 hours ago!).
it all looked like such a fun time!
Oh…my…GOSH! :::DROOL:::
Oh how I wish I was at your dinner party! Everything looks so good, and I would have love to try your homemade pumpkin beer!
*I would love to try your homemade pumpkin beer!
That spread is amazing!
I want a pumpkin shaped cookie and pumpkin beer!
Everything looked so warm and inviting. And as a Canadian, I have to confess I loved the copious use of the maple leaf theme!
Also, I had never thought of using crock posts for dinner party meals but really it makes so much sense. Especially in the cold weather. I’ll totally be borrowing that idea in the future. Gracias!
What a great party. Fall must be your favorite, from the paint color to the outfit to the decor. Everything looks great.
You are so talented! Your house looks like such a cozy home!
What a perfect party! I love all the labels!
The party looked like a lot of fun! Hey-by the way-what did you think of the article about you and other food bloggers in the new Marie Claire? I was not happy with it!!
I haven’t seen it, but I imagine it’s going to piss me off as well from the rumors that have been going around for months.
I read your blog every day–along with a couple others mentioned…and I was NOT happy. In fact, I’ve already written a letter to Marie Claire complaining, and I’m not renewing my subscription. I think it’s stupid, insulting, and NOT researched well.
You are great. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Nasty … what’s it about?
LOVIN’ the party!!!
How fun…your house looked so warm and cozy!
That sounds like so much fun!
What a beautiful house-warming-ish party! Such a wonderful spread, too!
I want to be invited to that party! It looks unbelievably fall-like and tasty!
That’s it, I’m inviting myself to the next one.
What a party! You won my vote with the little sign pointing to the bathroom:)

What a fun party!
You two find the cutest houses!!! Also, random, your shirt is really cute, where did you get it? I love square necklines!
Thanks, I think it is LOFT?
I feel like this party should have been featured in Real Simple, or Better Homes and Gardens! Impressive!
It looks like you put so much work into this! I love how warm and fall-ish your dining room looks! And of course all the food looks amazing. There’s nothing like soup and chili on a fall day.
Everything looks delicious! I love all of your signs – I do the same thing for parties! Everyone jokes around with me for labeling everything. I love how you made a sign pointing to the bathroom- I have yet to make one for that, but I should considering the most asked question is usually, “where’s the bathroom?”
That party looks like so much fun! Your food looked indescribably amazing, I loved your decor with the squash, and your directions/labels were really cute. I wish I had been there!
I love that there was even a sign for the dirty dishes. Too adorable.
And I’ll have to remember that recipe for the gingerbread cookies!
Great time had by all- cant go wrong with good eats in good company. Thanks for having us!
Thanks y’all!!
These pictures are so gorgeous–they belong in a home & garden magazine! I’m loving all the orange combinations that make the atmosphere so festive and fall-like.
What a fun fall party! I love entertaining, even though I get really nervous about it beforehand. But then it always ends up turning out ok! I can’t wait until my boyfriend’s deployment is over so we can have fun parties like this. I miss all those little activities.
I like how you turn your bday into a whole month celebration, haha.

Looks like such a great party!
Is the butternut squash recipe you used the same as the butternut fruit one in your recipe section?
No, but I have the recipe and will be sharing it soon!
Seriously, this sounds like the perfect autumnal fete! Well done.
I’m glad you like the cookies! I thought I was going to break a tooth when I bit into one…but I figured they’d be good all smashed up! Next time, I’ll just bring you a bag full of dough, because it was wayyyy tasty!
