Two days in a row of microphone talk!
Today’s event with the inaugural Cville Food Bloggers Round Table hosted by Cville Connect. My friend Mike is starting a podcast all about food, and we kicked it off today with Bella Eats, Gracefulfitness and The Diner Of Cville!
I was nervous getting going, but once we started talking, we found ourselves in a time warp and covered 50 minutes of conversation no problemo. The podcast will be available on Monday, and I’ll share with you – it’s more food + food scene than Cville specific, so I think every foodie would enjoy listening.
Earlier this morning, I did the Synergy workout of my Expecting More DVD [note that they sent me a freebie to review on BERF – now that I’ve done 3/6 workouts, I’ll be writing a recap review thus far soon]. This was an hour workout of both cardio + strength and I really enjoyed it. I’m missing Body Pump tomorrow for a nutrition event, so it was great to get in my strength a day early.
No weights? No problem! Just use horseshoes!
They were the perfect weight! But Faith said she would let me borrow some of her free weights from her studio so I could prevent clanking injuries!
After my workout and a shower, I packed up some almonds and a string cheese to bring to the podcast in case I got hungry. I nibbled on half of the almonds but am saving the string cheese for later. I didn’t think how inconvenient it would be to eat string cheese and talk at the same time : ) That might create some kind of string cheese incident…
Once back home, I was ready for lunch! My hunger levels were right on, but for some reason I rushed through this salad and ate it way too fast! Probably just because it was so good.
- Greens
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Hard-boiled egg
- Leftover sweet potato fries
- Bread “croutons”
- Avocado
- GOAT CHEESE!
In love with this raspberry lemonade-infused water!
Conference call in 4 minutes!

How cool that you were on a podcast! Haha and I love the couch and microphone set up! Can’t wait to hear it!
I want that salad — especially the hard-boiled eggs. And the sweet potato fries!
The new foodie podcast sounds fun
I love that I can see my fiancee’s blurry face behind that mic!!
Haha. I love that I hear him on the radio on Z95′s sports report when I’m making breakfast! He is so famous!
That makes me giggle!! I think of him as the dope who can’t get his clothes into the laundry basket… Someone’s gotta bring him down a peg right?!?
I can’t WAIT to hear this!!! I came up with the idea on a run like 6 months ago…going to be so awesome to hear it come to fruition!
Hahaha
that salad is so bright and colorful! very excited to read the full review of your workout dvds.
You’re getting to be quite the celebrity! Very cool
Your salad looks amazing.
Looking forward to the podcast. Glad you’re gonna share with us.
Sounds like a fun event! I would love to be apart of a round table like that! being surrounded by fellow foodies is awesome!
I havent played horseshoes in about…10 years!
And that roundtable and chitchat session would be so fun. Girl talk. Does a mind, body, and spirit some good!
Busy busy day for you and BERF
Your rasp-lemonade infused water looks lovely!
I’ve been trying to come up with some great mocktails for the summer…I’m not a huge drinker generally, but the social aspect of it while camping is I think what I will miss over my pregnant-summer this year…
Need something with a little fizz so I can partake in the cocktail hours!
Had a blast Kath! Glad to get you in the studios. Amazing how many topics there really are to talk about, it never ends. Will be up Monday.
Loved the great band reference….they’re wicked awesome
I would love to hear teh podcast!! Your salads always look so good!!
How fun!! I think it’s great that you partake in things like this.
That salad looks amazing. You managed to get a little bit of everything good in there!!
There is a band from Colorado (where I am from) called “The String Cheese Incident” so that line about not eating string cheese during your podcast made me LOL.
That’s what I was referencing
I’ve heard of ‘em
I figured as much, I was just shocked no one else had mentioned it in the comments!
That was pretty cleaver Kath.
string cheese incident, eh? I see what you did there.
I would inhale that salad too, it looks AWESOME. Love the ‘croutons’, i’ll have to remember that!
LOL I love that you randomly have horseshoes.
Did you buy that lemonade-infused water or did you make it? Do you have a brand name or recipe you can share?
Thanks so much!
I mixed about 2 ounces of this with water (found at Whole Foods – it’s delicious!) http://www.scojuice.com/products/juices/raspberry_lemonade
Just an FYI to those who don’t have or shop at whole foods…this brand is available at most mainstream grocery stores as well. At least out west!
Hi Kath!
So my parents are currently vacationing in Virginia, and I told them that if they go to Charlottesville they have to stop at the Great Harvest Bread Co. to take a picture of my favorite blog writer’s bakery. Well they just informed me that they are in Cville today, and that they stopped at your bakery for lunch! My mom said that she talked to Karen for quite a while! I was so excited when my mom told me this, and I can’t wait to see their pictures! It’ll be so neat to see them at your bakery, because I’ve been following your blog for over a year and a half! I only wish that I could have been there with them-I hope I can visit one day too!
-Caroline
Hey Caroline! I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to get down there – I had a call at 3 I had to be home for. Hope they had a great visit, and so glad Karen was able to welcome them to Cville!
I’ve been looking for some good prenatal workout DVDs, will check out Expecting More! I’ve found a few on Netflix Watch Instantly, but haven’t actually spent any money on buying DVDs yet.
It’s really good! Challenging too
Have you ever tried Ellen Barrett’s workout DVDs? They’re low impact and include a lot of pilates and yoga elements, but you still get a really good cardio and strength workout. I think they’re awesome, specifically some of her newer ones (“The Studio” and “Live” series), and I think they’d be great for someone who’s pregnant.
That salad looks amazing, btw… I’m craving hard boiled eggs!
I haven’t…I’m very new to DVD fitness
Man, that salad looks so good! I probably should have taken you up on your offer of staying for lunch!
Haha yeah!
I had SUCH an awesome time today…….can’t wait to write about it! Thanks Kath
Me too!
I wish I had some raspberry lemonade-infused water, because I am thirsty for something other than plain water.

That must have been a great talk! The salad looks delicious as always!
Your salad made me drool a little
Have you seen this video yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukdoK3l4aM4
Made me think of you, but I couldn’t agree less, I love seeing what people eat! Does make for a funny video though
HA!!!
The The String Cheese Incident reference made me laugh out loud! I never figured you as a SCI fan, Kath! Looking forward to the podcast
That must have been a fun experience! Very cool.
What a great idea for a roundtable podcast discussion on all things local!
That salad LOOKS good!
Innovative alternative to weights.
We can’t wait to hear the podcast!!!
It’s awesome how you are so in tune with your hunger cues. It’s a good think to try to model from.
The podcast sounds like fun!
String cheese incident hehe! Clever.
