Wonderful end to this great trip!!

The sun (and mountains) came out to play today! The weather warmed. Seattle and I became friends.

So did these ladies, my dinner mates, Lacey and Amelia

And Roni

We had big plans to eat at Matt’s In The Market, which is have heard all weekend is phenomenal, but I failed to realize it would be closed on Sunday! A quick walk later, we ended up at Cutter’s on the waterfront, which ended up being the perfect spot.

I wasn’t too hungry from my big chocolate snack today, so I ordered a bowl of soup – smoked salmon chowder – that was rich, yet very delicious. (I couldn’t finish it all)

Plus a wonderful arugula salad with apricot, parmesan, balsamic reduction and a sherry dressing

We talked and talked – a mile a minute – everything from photography to parenthood.

And said our farewells over Fran’s chocolates that I shared with the group.

Last chocolate standing.

I am always shocked at how filling soup really is!

2 Roxanne June 11, 2012 at 1:35 am

Especially chowder soups!

3 brandee June 10, 2012 at 11:42 pm

It sounds like you had a great trip! Seattle looks amazing!

4 Averie @ Averie Cooks June 11, 2012 at 12:53 am

That smoked salmon chowder looks sooooo rich. Wow. But I’d love to try a bite.

And that teal/turquoise is an awesome color on you, Kath. It looks so pretty on you with your skin and eyes!

5 Cristin June 11, 2012 at 1:08 am

You look so cute in aqua! Isn’t it a pain when restaurants are closed on Sunday!! People still want to eat! Glad you had a fun last day. The chocolates look so yummy.

6 KathEats June 11, 2012 at 8:40 am

Especially in the tourism heart of this city!

7 Roxanne June 11, 2012 at 1:36 am

That last chocolate standing… who ate the lonely one?

Thanks for the advice on where to sign up for blogconventions! I will HAVE to get to one when we return stateside…until then, wandering the streets of Seoul it is! Or…most recently, in Siem Reap, Cambodia;) I love reading about your adventures, and I have not yet had the chance to go to Seattle, but it looks like a wonderful city!!

What a wonderful way to end the weekend. Hve. Safe trip home!

11 Kaila @healthyhelperblog! June 11, 2012 at 5:55 am

OMG salmon chowder sounds incredible! Salmon is incredibly rich on its own but I can’t even imagine in soup form….muuuuust try to recreate that!!!

12 mary @ minutespermile June 11, 2012 at 6:19 am

That soup looks intense!

13 Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles June 11, 2012 at 6:39 am

That was quite the bowl of soup! I went out for dinner last week…someone ordered the clam chowder…it was terrine sized! Good thing you ordered a salad to accompany it…he ordered seafood pasta in a cream sauce…he had to bring it home.

14 kristen @ verbs and vignettes June 11, 2012 at 6:47 am

you know what this post makes me randomly jealous of? good LIGHTING in restaurants. :p i know i can boost and play in lightroom, but i never get near windows… or… eat dinner before the sun goes down. haha. glad you got in so much after blogher! seattle looks wonderful.

15 Lisa @bitesforbabies June 11, 2012 at 6:53 am

Smoked salmon chowder?!!! YUM! I’ve never heard of it…maybe in “my part of the world” it’s not common! Lol! Too bad I have a sensitivity to dairy…:-(

16 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning June 11, 2012 at 7:22 am

Smoked salmon chowder… that’s definitely intriguing to me! Cream-based soups are one of those foods that I can only have a bite or two of- we just don’t get along well. :)
Glad you had such a great trip (but I bet you’re ready to be back home!).

17 Angela @ Happy Fit Mama June 11, 2012 at 7:32 am

I love Seattle when it’s not raining! :)

18 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats June 11, 2012 at 7:48 am

I’ve never heard of smoked salmon chowder, but it sounds good!

19 Jodi @ Jodi, Fat or Not June 11, 2012 at 7:51 am

That food looked great and so did the weather!

20 Cait's Plate June 11, 2012 at 8:23 am

Those chocolates look incredible!!

21 Joanne June 11, 2012 at 8:36 am

Wonderful trip. The soup sounds so good although in warmer weather, I’d opt for the arugula salad over soup.

22 jenna June 11, 2012 at 8:48 am

that chowder looks to die for! hope you had a great time at blogher!

23 @FactFinderSteph June 11, 2012 at 9:37 am

I don’t know if I would have been able to share those chocolates! Soup looks so yummy too! I have KathEats food jealously!

24 wesley @ the way home June 11, 2012 at 9:48 am

So jealous of you! I have always wanted to go to Seattle, I’ve heard so many amazing things about it. Glad you had a good trip!

25 Angel7 June 11, 2012 at 9:50 am

You must have liked the salty caramels — Last.Chocolate.Standing :)

26 OliePants June 11, 2012 at 10:20 am

I love a good soup, and I agree – it can get filling. But, always room for chocolate! :)

27 Amanda @ flecksofgreen June 11, 2012 at 10:22 am

The picture of the sun and the mountains is beautiful! I love the sound of that Smoked Salmon Chowder–it sounds delicious! Have a safe trip back home :)

28 samantha @ peach in the city June 11, 2012 at 10:29 am

29 Sara June 11, 2012 at 10:34 am

Hey Kath,
I have been reading Roni’s site for years and looking at yours recently… it’s funny to see you two together in the same post!! Glad you had fun!

30 KathEats June 11, 2012 at 10:38 am

Roni is great! We always cross paths at blog conferences :)

31 Amelia June 11, 2012 at 11:03 am

34 Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac June 11, 2012 at 11:33 am

Creamy soups are so filling! I had cream of crab on Sunday, and then could barely finish the rest of my meal. They sure taste good though!I don’t think I’ve ever had an apricot, they look like a peach!

35 Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count June 11, 2012 at 12:25 pm

Looks like a good end to your weekend!

36 Erin Motz June 11, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Creamy soups make me feel totally stuffed! Looks delicious though :-)

37 Mary @ From Chaos to Calm June 11, 2012 at 5:07 pm

Ohhh, I like Cutter’s. Seattle is wonderful when it is sunny here. We don’t get tons of sun but when we do it makes living in the Pacific Northwest so great. It is green and you get used to the rain. Everything is a trade off I guess. Although, it looks like where you live it is both green and often sunny. No fair! Glad you had a great trip out!

38 Julia H. @ Going Gulia June 11, 2012 at 9:20 pm

Wow, smoked salmon chowder? I’ve never even heard of that! Clam chowder is delicious, so I bet smoked salmon is even better. Mmmmmm.

39 Stephanie @ Food and Fitness 4 Real June 12, 2012 at 8:38 am

Hi Kath, I really enjoyed getting to meet you again on Friday night and spend some time talking about babies. Good luck with the last few months of your pregnancy. It looks like you had a wonderful Sunday in Seattle. This was my first visit to Seattle but I would love to bring my husband back and expore the other areas of the city like you did (plus do some winery tours in Washington). I also ate at Cutters on Saturday evening, everthing we ordered was fresh and tasty. Hope you got home safely yesterday.

40 KathEats June 12, 2012 at 8:40 am

Nice to meet you too Stephanie!! Glad you also had a good trip – I want to bring Matt back to the PNW when I can drink beer again!

41 Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See June 14, 2012 at 4:11 pm
