Old Fashioned Fiesta

August 4, 2009

We enjoyed a good old fashioned dinner party tonight in my parents’ historic dining room where I spent many birthdays surrounded by girlfriends and opening Barbie Dolls –

With a bit of a Mexican theme with chips, guac and kettle corn for appetizers. Lunch held me over well and I didn’t snack today – just had a taste of each of these. I actually skipped the first round of drinks so as to not drink too much tonight. It worked like a charm. It’s always easier to postpone a drink than it is to say no entirely.

Boo, Aunt Pat, Lisa, Lisa’s mom Shirley and my mom. My dad and Bill, Lisa’s husband, were man-chatting in the kitchen. Princess Lillian ordered room service.

For dinner we had a whole spread of dishes.

Chicken Enchiladas

A salad (with homemade dressing by your truly)

Fruit salad + wild rice

Great Harvest Jalapeno Cheddar

And the one and only

Loved this glass!

My plate – half fruit + veg, half everything else.

And a little bit of Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Pie for dessert. My dad’s old birthday dessert from when he was a youngin’. It was light and fluffy.

Feel good about my eats tonight – I’m not too full at all, and I thank not eating much during cocktail hour.

I’m excited to go read in bed!! Wish my husb was here to read next to me :( HI KANZ!!

Nite!

PS. KERF could be undergoing another surgery tonight. It SHOULD be painless. But just giving a head’s up. Can’t WAIT for this to be over!

I love how half of your plate is veggies and fruit. I learned this trick awhile ago. It really helps me to enjoy the yummy stuff as well as my yummy fruits and veggies and not overdoing it.

Beautiful house! That pie sounds incredible. I agree with you about the drinking thing – much easier to postpone as opposed to saying no all together!
