Guess where we went for dinnah!
More Lion’s Den love! And apparently all of Dillon was there too – and a handful of the GH staff! It was the happenin’ place to be.
We invited our other trainees out to eat and everyone was able to come. Even Mike the CEO joined our table tonight after a text message invite! I decided to take a night off of Moose Drool and stuck with water –
But I can’t promise I didn’t glug down half of Matt’s Pig’s Ass Porter! He was nice to share <3
We decided to share a dinner because we know from past experience that the PETITE steak here was still huge!
I had a side salad to start (so did Matt)
And we shared this monster steak – the Ladies Cut! [You should have heard Matt order it!]
It came with a baked potato and roll
I had a salad plate’s worth of a hunk of the steak, and half the potato and roll. It all tasted pretty good, but didn’t blow me away. Next on our to-do list is a bison burger.
This afternoon was filled information on labeling (nutrition facts and more). I must have had 5 handfuls of trail mix – couldn’t get enough of those M&Ms! Plus an orange when my hunger peaked at 4:30 that really hit the spot. I rarely snack at home these days (I’m not really sure how/why my body transitioned from snacking since this fall) but I am sure getting hungry between meals here. Trying my best to distinguish between boredom hunger and real hunger and drinking lots of water.
We’re cozied up in the hotel motel room about to put together some overnight oats!!

If there are m&ms in trail mix, you can be assured that I will pick each and every one out to eat… and leave everything else.
What a cozy restaurant!!
That steak is huge! LOL!
Woah that steak at dinner was HUGE! I can’t believe that was the ladies cut! I wonder what the man’s cut is like??
M & Ms in trail mix, those and raisins, are the reason i eat trail mix! I eat those and leave most of the rest
Glad you had a fun night out! Love the down-home decor in that restaurant! They are keeping it real, and old school in there
That steak looks HUGEEEEE
Recognizing boredom versus actual hunger is still the hardest part of intuitive eating for me. I guess it’s a long term process
I’m laying in bed trying to get ready to go to sleep while reading this, and that baked potato and roll just made me realize how hungry I am!!!! Need to stop looking at pictures of food right before bed(haha).
Looks like a fun dinner out, the Lion’s Den looks cozy.
That restaurant made me feel like I’d been transported back home (Indiana). I realize you’re nowhere near Indiana, but it has that down home feel that I really miss here in Cali. Those steaks were huge. I bet you giggled when Matt ordered the Ladies’ cut. Some SERIOUS ladies, apparantly. :p
My hunger is always off for the 1st few days when I’m traveling. And y’all are walking and staying super active in those freezing temps!
Did Matt say it like the “Ladies Man”?
Does Ass Porter taste good?
Yeah, it was delicoius!
You may be feeling extra hungry b/c of being outdoors in the cold temps. I used to work outside in the winter, and I’d be starving when I came inside!
What a fun place! Must be nice to have a hubby that’s a lite eater….I think mine could’ve eaten two of those steaks!
How fun! You have been visiting such cool-off the wall places. Makes MN look better- but cold. Also LOVE the names of the beer:)
Bison burgers are one of my favorite kinds of burgers. So appropriate where you are too!
Definitely impressed by your stocked hotel, i mean motel room!
Sharing a meal is such a good idea– it looks like there’s was more than enough for two very nice meals! When I don’t have someone to share with, I sometimes either ask the chef to serve me only half and box the rest right out of the kitchen, or I ask for a box and do the dividing myself right away rather than packaging up the leftovers like I used to after I had what seemed like my fill (probably too much to eat).
Glad you had a good evening– love hearing your updates and thoughts!
That steak is huge! This restaurant seems pretty popular! ;D
I love the cozy feel of your dinner establishment!! And I’m totally giggling at the phrase “ass porter!”
Those are certainly colorful names for beer
So was the other option the *gentlemans*?
Looks like quite the meal! Snacking is an every day occurance for me
Kath you are so lucky I really wish I could own a bakery and get training (or at least have a husband who’s a baker). Sigh… maybe some day.
Did the potato come to your table all splayed open like that? It’s making me giggle!
What’s the deal with continually needing to emphasize that it’s a motel and not a hotel? Looks like a good spot to me regardless.
I’m thinking it has to do with that song: “Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn…”
AAAND now I’ve got that stuck in my head.
Ohhh overnight oats! I’ve been eating them all the time lately. Can’t wait to see your breakfast in the morning!
i have a lot of boredom hunger when i travel. which is weird b/c i feel like i’m so much more bored at home!
Colder temps will definitely make you hungrier – I live in the UK and you should see the insane amount I eat in winter – ness my girl! Do you find drinking water helps with boredom eating?? I usually drink a ton anyhow but I find if Im craving snacks cos Im bored nothing but a snack stops the craving (and then another one, and then another one….)
LIke i said though – the cold weather means you need it. We made a raost chicken last month and I think I ate about half of it for lunch on Monday. Seriously – HALF A CHICKEN! xox

That was me being a tech expert and posting twice – once with a link to my old blog. DUH> sorry! xox
I don’t eat meat anymore, but I loved bison burgers when I had them.
Great flavor and a lot healthier than beef. Enjoy!
You have me craving pretzels and M&Ms now, lol.
That restaurant look so fun!
what an adorable place.
The steak is def huge and good thing you knew from the past time ordering it! Sharing is caring! haha!
Have a great day today! : )
That is a huge steak. How nice of the CEO to join you guys.
It sounds like you’re learning so much and keeping very busy! You always amaze me by how much you do in a day!
Keep it up girl!
That steak is obscene. I wonder if anyone could actually eat that by themselves? Ew.
This steak reminds me of Tate trying to buy some meat at the butcher in Argentina, the man looked at him like he was mad for only wanting a quarter pound! He actually asked Tate what he was going to do with it and when Tate replied dinner the butcher said “that’s just a little snack”!
The ladies cut is cute. It is always funny to hear a man order something meant for ladies. I have a lot of respect for women in Dillon if they can take that thing down. I hope you had a great night!
I still have so much trouble distinguishing between boredom hunger and actual hunger! But when in doubt, I usually just eat anyway.
i have to be honest, an orange always hits the spot for me too…it’s sweet, but not too much, and juicy. i drink a ton of water, but usually what i really need is just something to quench my thirst!
What a cute and cozy cabin restaurant
Yum trail mix with m&m’s! So deadly, you can never get enough!
That is a HUGGGGGE hunk of steak! Wow – and I’m with you on the M&Ms…addictive!
Big steak. Looks juicy. YUM!
I’ll be the same way that Matt said the “Ladies Cut” must be the same way I feel whenever I choose an entree from the “healthy choices” menu…. I always feel like the waitstaff is judging me. :/
I tried to look up the menu for the Lion’s Den online and couldn’t find it. I wanted to check out what other kinds of deliciousness they serve.
Jessica
Wow! That steak is massive! I don’t even think I could eat half of it! The food looks great there and I love the cozy atmosphere!
Did you have the better half of the steak?
I’d say I had the best 1/6 of the steak
Are you being sarcastic about that restaurant being “happenin’“? It looks pretty empty.
No it was – our area was pretty empty relatively
Oh boy! That baked potato looks wonderfully indulgent. Someone recently told me that a little Fage on a baked potato is just as good as traditional sour cream. I’m sure it’s true.
There’s nothing like a good steak on a cold night
That steak looks amazing! I have the hardest time distinguishing between boredom hunger and real hunger. However, my husband recently worked nights for 3 months and I realized I started to feel hungry after I put the kids to bed and had a few hours to myself at night. Some nights when I just felt bored I realized that’s when I got the hungriest.
I had such a good bison steak when I was in Montana. I’ve never seen a bison steak anywhere else!
That steak is HUGE! Not my style, but those overnight oats sure looked amazing!!
I love how your side salad was a plate of iceburg lettuce (rolls eyes). I have a feeling that Dillon, Montana might just do me in. (I eat vegan.) By the way, I also seem to need extra calories when I spend a lot of time outside in very cold temps.
Wow, Great Harvest in Wheat Montana country! I love Wheat Montana! Does Great Harvest sell their flour in their stores?
I don’t believe they do..
How are they cooking this steak? It’s so pink and juicy looking! Not cooked to a crisp like most American steaks!
Yes, it was Prime Rib – medium rare
Tara – I think the steak must be a prime rib. They’re usually cut really big and pink like that cause they roast it and then slice it rather than grilling each steak separately…just speculating is all.
Kath, I like seeing what Matt eats too! I was confused the first couple days when you went out to breakfast and lunch you mentioned sharing things with him but I wasn’t sure if you meant your meal or you just gave him your leftovers and he ate something else. haha. I guess I just like to see a variety
P.S. Do you ever feel like you have a rock in your stomach if you eat too much bread? I do love it, but it happens to me sometimes if I over do it and I think I would be eating wayyyyyy too much at training. You have excellent willpower!
I wasn’t hungry alllll afternoon after that bread
