Right near the beach!!
Mom bought Larbs and I (with Larbs’s expertise) matching beach coverups from H&M
Photo of all three of us to come soon!
And yes, our bathing suits were coincidentally very similar! And yes, we’re both wearing visors! And went to the same college and have very similar mannerisms!
Matt and his sister, Chelsea, are twins too!!! Check out their matching noses
Perhaps my favorite part of beach vacations is spending all day dirty in the sand and then showering and putting on comfy clothes and enjoying the sunset.
Exhibit A
But I do not enjoy getting a burned torso on Day I. Must find an umbrella and shade!!
Exhibit B
After showers we played a few rounds of Gin
Matt poured me a Moose Drool Clone – and it made me tispy after just a few sips!! This girl cannot handle much alcohol!
My mom made her famous Sherry Cheese Dip for the trip. I dove into it head first!!
Ate my weight in delicious Wheat Thins. Must have been the beer
Before dinner Kanz did a Mead tasting of a mead he scored well on in a beer competition recently
It was good, but I only made it through a sip. It was mighty strong!
Dinner tonight was nothin’ but perfect
We carried the table onto the upper deck and feasted on the most amazing views of the Atlantic
On the menu was a childhood favorite: Mom’s Herb + Garlic Chicken. Thanks to mom and dad for their night of cooking! (We each have a night…although I think Kanz and I have more nights assigned than any other couple!)
Just chicken baked with herbs, garlic and lots of buttah
The gravy is pretty much all butter and herbs!
Plus simple Garlic Gold roasted broc
Some rice
Plus a couple of bottles of red
I had most of a thigh, rice and broc
Had a little of wine with dinner. It went so well!
After dinner we all went on our third beach walk of the day. I love nothing more than walking on the beach!! Exercise today was 2 miles x 3. Walking at dusk is the best!!
Once home, we pulled out the desserts. I think we have a problem with too many desserts on one table!
H2Omelon
And those silly Breyer’s ice creams that were on sale. They were soupy (my fav!) and SO GOOD!
Matt’s birthday cake and I had a quick one night stand – my spoon attacked some bites of this last piece -
And I ended up eating some of this watermelmon and some ice cream (shhhh – straight from the carton!!)
Thus is beach behavior.
Now if you’ll excuse me, Edgar Sawtelle and the dogs are calling me!!

Oh man, this all looks like so much fun!
East Coast beaches are so much prettier than West Coast, in my opinion.
Sunsets are fun, but being up so late you are going to miss the spectacular ‘over the ocean’ serene morning sunrises with changing your internal time clock on vacation. Sleeping in is fun and deserved, but you might want to pick one morning to get up to see it. Maybe a day that is forecast to be a bit cloudy for the best show! Enjoy your vacation-you deserve it!!!
Oh my – that ‘dining room’ overlooking the beach is just wonderful
What a great vacation! Enjoy
Aw, the pictures of you and your sister are so cute. I always wished I had a sister.
Your dinner/dessert sounds like it was a lot of fun, and that backdrop, wow! So beautiful.
Perfect memories Kath! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait for the day that I enjoy vacations with my kids as adults! You should feel so fortunate to have a family like that! Enjoy your evening with them…oh and the ice cream from the carton…your secret is safe with me!
Thanks K! I appreciate you every day:)
What a fun time! There’s nothing better than a mid-summer beach vacation. Can’t wait to see what’s in store when it’s your turn to cook dinner!
I’ve never seen anythign like that sherry dip! Cream cheese-based dips are pretty uncommon in Australia. Would your mum mind sharing the recipe, do you think?
wow you are in amazing shape esp for eating all that nut butter and big breakfasts!!!lucky!!
Hey now, don’t act so surprised! That’s just how I choose to play my cards. I may indulge in peanut butter, but I turn down other things in exchange.
With all of the veggies + exercise, I am definitely not surprised!!! You are my healthy lifestyle role model!
What a wonderful day! Your dinner (and views) look amazing!
I loveee your beach coverups!! What does your sis do nowadays?
She’s in her final year of a specialist degree in school psychology at Northeastern
I love beach vacations! Looks like you’re having a great time…minus the sunburn
I’m jealous! But glad I stumbled upon your blog
Your vacation is killing me. Seriously. Looks like SO. MUCH. FUN. Not too mention relaxing. I’m glad I’m reading this before bed maybe I’ll dream I’m on vacation.
I would totally rig the dinner plan so that you’d have to cook every night, with Matt’s home brewed pairings of course…
Beach vacations are the best! Looks like an amazing time.
I love the dinner table! I think presentation is everything, and it was beautiful out on the deck! Awesome idea!!
Fessing up to those ice cream samples from the carton via blogging makes me feel better too.
The butter chicken sounds good.
What a perfect night!
i love that the table was brought up to the deck. and you’re right – matt and his sister have identical noses!
Beach behaviour = AWESOME! Ice cream straight from the carton, watermelon, beautiful beach views, man you are living the life! I am jealous.
Wei-Wei
Vacations are the best! Your matching cover-ups are so cute!
ahah if you can’t eat ice cream straight from the box when you’re on holiday at the beach, when can you!?
Btw, are you a twin, or am I confused!?
No, she is not a twin. And yes, you are confused (as usual).
No, I’m 3 years older
The sunset in the background just looks gorgeous!
I love the family things you all engage in! Esp the matching haha
Looks like another amazing day.
I love days spent on the beach and getting full of sand too. Mmm..summer at its finest.
And the meal up on the deck? Stunning. That must have been so fun.

Such a perfect dinner! I love the setting! Family vacations are the best!!
Haha I love that “comfy clothes” for you are still preppy
You’re seriously so cute!! So is your sister-you should frame that photo of you girls in your coverups!!! And my, oh my–what a BEAUTIFUL dinner setting…thanks for sharing the photos!
Your vacation makes me jealous. Looks like so much fun!
I continue to live vicariously through you! Hope you’re able to find an umbrella for the beach tomorrow
I can’t believe how much you and your sister look alike! And I’m jealous of your beach vacay
I had some nice time with my family this weekend, too (albeit a tad more landlocked).
Looks so great!
People always say my sis and I look like twins..yet she is 5 years older than me…so I am not sure if I should take offense or not
Love the cover ups!

Aww, I love the matching cover-ups, you guys are too cute! I am so jealous of your beach vacation, it looks perfect in every way. Enjoy it!
Looks like a great dinner and the perfect place for it! It’s what summer is all about. Gotta love that view
Glad you’re enjoying vacation. This may be totally unscientific, but I have found that my alcohol tolerance is even more skimpy than usual when I have a sunburn…
Hope you find an umbrella and slather on the sunscreen for the next beach installment.
that’s so funny, their noses are seriously identical.
also kath i have a question. when you make oats with chia seeds, do you add them to the pot with the oats and water at the beginning or stir them in at the end? thanks!
I answered this in another post
Beginning
oh, i’m sorry! i must have missed it. thanks for answering it again!
Wow! This looks incredibly delicious and still healthy. This goes great with my new workout plan.
Looks like you’re having a gret family vacation – enjoy! I admire your devotion to blogging, even whilst you are on holiday.
Beautiful views. Thanks for the pictures.
I’m so very behind on my Google Reader but had to comment on this post. Your vacation looks amazing and I am totally jealous. We have also been known to carry tables out onto the porch during family beach vacations to enjoy beautiful views and outdoor dining!
Enjoy the rest of your trip!
