Nothin’ But Sky And Water

Famous quote by Clifford Younger from the deck of a cruise ship years and years ago!

Toss a little sand in there too. It seems to be coating every surface in our house!

Karen and I went on our daily beach walk this morning while they others did their high intensity sports (i.e. running). We walked for about an hour at a good pace.

After some beach reading, we came in for lunch – egg salad sandwiches!

And of course, watermelon. Other ultimate beach food! (Add ice cream and shrimp to that list…)

Latherin’ up with the ‘screen for an afternoon outside!

Egg salad sandwiches bring back memories of summer lunches outside on our picnic table or under a shaded tree!

I knew I was pregnant both times when I craved a diet A&W Root Beer and HAD to stop and get one on my way from teaching. I craved watermelon this time of year with both who were born in November and they both LOVE watermelon now, just had some for dinner in fact. An hour beach walk and beach reading sound delightful. I am over 100 pages into Wild and loving it. I need to read for about half an hour with my daughter while the boys went fishing. Keep enjoying your vacation, you deserve it!

Mmm, watermelon! When I was a kid my Dad lived behind a farm and every year watermelons grew like CRAZY. I’m sure it was technically illegal, but I would sneak over and pick some up every time I went over there. :) Wishing I still had a neighbor with such convenient past times like farming, haha!

Watermelon and ice cream are definitely the best beach foods! I also associate zeppoles also, because when I was a child after a day at the beach, my parents would stop for a bag at the boardwalk for us to share in the car on the way home.

Ahhh egg salad sandwiches! I totally feel like they are the “forgotten variety” of the sandwich world. Such a shame ;)

Curious if you have any opinions about artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame in diet soda, while pregnant? I can taste it more while I am pregnant, but I didn’t know if there has been any significant research on the effects of the chemicals on unborn babes?

I think it’s fine every now and then, but I wouldn’t buy them in my house and drink daily
