UPDATE: I’m moving hosts tonight thanks to the AMAZING help of Jenn + Dustin, who I now owe a big one (and lots of bread!) : ) Not sure when I’ll see you guys next, but I’ll miss you until then! (Hopefully tomorrow morning, but could be later).
Sorry for all the blog annoyance today.
In a nutshell, BlueHost just implemented a new program that punished sites that get a ton of traffic by slowing them down i.e. “throttling.” Turns out KERF was hogging all the server juice and crashing smaller sites. This new program they turned on yesterday punishes the big dogs. (Guess that’s cool that I am one). But BOOOOOO.
I just spent 2 hours on the phone with a really, really, really nice guy from BlueHost (thanks Scott!) who helped me upgrade to WordPress 2.8.2 (FINALLY) and install a plug-in that should temporarily fix the problem.
In the meantime, I’m working with my technical support posse to try to move KERF to a super expensive but hopefully flawless dedicated server. The alternative is just to sit in traffic all day. Which I know you guys would hate.
Please bear with me through this extremely painful KERF surgical procedure.
I’m off to eat lunch, as it’s 1PM and I haven’t even thought about my todo list.
Maybe I’ll have a glass of wine with lunch
