I started blogging in August 2007, so this was a little more than 6 months, but really, practice does make perfect!

Wow thanks for the immediate reply! Oops, I just meant your photography skills quickly evolved in about your first 6 months of having a blog-your first few months of blogging until when this was posted, the photos improved significantly. Sounds like both that camera and lightroom are really the way to go with these kinds of photos...plus tons and tons of practice. Thanks!!

Well this post is from way older than 6 months - nearly 3 years! I have a Canon DSLR now, and I shoot on a tripod with a 35 mm prime lens. That helps a lot. I also edit my photos in Lightroom which really helps to take them from flat camera image back to real life.

Thanks!

I'm going back and looking at the evolution of your food photography. I am really curious how you improved your photography skills in less than 6 months. I'm assuming part of it is you got a new camera-though maybe not. I'm sure you've shared, but what was the first camera you started with, and at this point were you still using it, or did you purchase a new one/new lens?

oh my goodness, I had entirely forgotten about Muffin Films. That was an entertaining re-visit just now. I especially like The Muffin Tree ("for trees do not talk!") Since my blog has a muffin-y name itself, I may have to post this fountain of crumbly creativity myself soon. Thanks for the reminder, Kath!!

Laura ,
Both. I got accustomed to adding 2-4 tbsp of wheatberries to my oats, which made me reduce to 1/3 a cup. And pumpkin as well - they both make them too filling with 1/2 a cup. But sometimes I don't add those two and just stick to 1/3 a cup because I'm not as hungry as usual. It' just depends! Sometimes I do add 1/2 a cup!

Hi Kath,
I always enjoy seeing what toppings you put on your oatmeal (I tend to be boring with my porridge and have the same thing every morning - 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup unsweetened soy milk, 1/4 cup water, 2 handfuls of raisins, sultanas and pumpkin seeds, and a sprinkling of dried apple and blackcurrent flakes), but I was wondering - and I hope you don't take this as rude, because it can drive me nuts sometimes when people question what I'm eating - why you usually have 1/3 cup oats rather than 1/2 cup? I've always just gone by the recommended serving on the back of the packet, which I understand is around 150 calories. Is it to cut a few calories that you have less or do you just find it too filling?

Marisa (trim the fat),
Maybe 7 sets of 2??

Michelle ,
What do you mean "too much of a celebrity to respond!!" I write back to almost all the questions :)

SmA033 ,
Glad you like BB!! We were just in Great Harvest this afternoon :)

marie + Sarah ,
Yes, I do add milk (1% usually) and heat it in my mug and pour the coffee on top. See the FAQ page, blog question #8.

Ally ,
yes, they are probably similar. Most of their muffins are made with whole wheat flour, canola oil and all kinds of healthy ingredients, so while they are a large portion, they are very wholesome.

Lynna ,
Awesome you liked the bread!!

Kori ,
Sorry, all the Great Harvest recipes are top secret :(
