Mowing the lawn is so fun with an iPod! I spent the hour and a half it took me to chop down the forrest of a lawn singing Celine Dion, Sesame Street, Freebird, Sarah Borellis, Gwen Stefani and others. Hope the neighbors weren’t offended!
I came in for lunch around 12:30.
I present – a spinach salad, tossed in olive oil, honey and salt, plus leftover grilled veggies, raisins and lemony hummus
Some fresh strawberries
And a delicious Oikos with blueberry preserves and almonds.
REAL FOOD….ahhh.
We are still stinky without showers and are going biking to Trader Joe’s (~6 miles away!) before we come home and get ready to start the day
See y’all for dinner!

Kath,
Not to rain on your fun singing parade, but be careful with that ipod when mowing! I’m an audiologist, and turning your ipod volume loud enough to hear over your mower can damage your hearing (although I’ll admit I did it myself as a teen…).
Even better, try a reel push mower sometime: http://www.cleanairgardening.com/reelmowers.html. Quiet enough that you can mow at 7:00 on Sunday morning, and environmentally friendly too! They are actually really easy to push and handle. I’m small with little upper-body strength, and I like our reel mower much better than any power mower I’ve ever used!
Becky, I’ve looked into those mowers, I would love one! How big is your hard and how long does it take you to mow?
Ahaha, the mental image I got of you mowing the lawn while belting out divalicious songs was hilarious.
Wow, what great Sesame Street song! But what is with that angry fellow following them in the truck? Haha
I’m so glad to hear that I’m not the only one with Sesame Street on her iPod!! I jam out to “manah-manah” during EVERY walk!
I’m announcing my giveaway winner tonight!! Why am I nervous?!?
I like the sound of that dressing! Yum
I loved the house tour by the way – you and your house are too cute. We have really similar taste! My mom gives me quilts and my house is full of them. They’re so beautiful and I love how they make a house a home.
Haha glad you had fun mowing!! Gotta love iPods!!!
Yummy lunch. I love leftover grilled veggies. I made a wrap with some today and it was delicious. Enjoy your day!
lemony hummus? yummmm!
Sesame Street? Were you listebibg to Sunny Days or Cookie monter’s ‘Cookie is for me’ song?! Maybe some rubber ducky?
busy busy!! that hummus looks great.
thats the only way I mow the lawn!
music makes cleaning and upkeep so much more fun! beautiful lunch – I need to find some blueberry preserves!
Great lunch! What did you sing from Sesame Street? Haha. Enjoy the rest of your day
Hummus is good…good for a salad!
Glad to have you back Kath!! Yayyy!
Random question…..is the Kath yoga download coupon still working? What is it if so?! THX!
That’s a great way to pass the time while mowing!
Kath,
I would like to purchase a Polar heart rate monitor, but am having a hard time deciding which one to buy. Do you still recommend the F4 one, or do you think it would be better to purchase another model like F6, F11, etc? Thanks!
I’m just dying for a lawn to mow. fingers crossed for next year.
p.s. don’t you just LOVE summer fruit. GAH. I think I need to move to Israel. I hear their produce is the best in the world.
Alison,
I sent you an e-mail reply.
Great lunch!
I love the looks of those strawberries!
btw, adorable picture from the cruise on your blog!!
So cute that you have sesame street on your ipod!
Have a great day!
The hummus on that salad looks fantastic. The whole thing looks fantastic. My mouth is watering just looking at your lunch!
That salad looks AWESOME! Must have been one yummy lunch! Nice treat after mowin’
Haha – I’m totally loving your playlist! The great “mowing classics” !
Loving the salad! And totally yummy on the Oikos! I’ll bet it’s so nice to get back to your own foods.
Have fun on the bike ride and shopping!
lol my husband said I’m one of those “loud singers” with my iPod earphones in.
I love Oikos yogurt, especially with something crunchy on top. Blueberry is my fav!
Jenn
I love mowing the lawn! Well I don’t have one now since I am in a condo but when I lived at home I used to love to do it and sing too! haha
Amazing healthy looking lunch!
Hope you enjoyed bike ride to the store!
I’ve been so busy that I missed the iPhone announcement! YAY! I love the grocery app that I blogged about and I just downloaded an app to track my period because it’s back for the first time since I got pregnant-BOO!
I already am in love with hummus and lately I’ve been on a lemon kick so lemon hummus might be a bad thing with me
That sounds SO GOOD!
Okay, in the second picture of your salad, the blob of hummus and a piece of pepper look like a swan sitting on top of your salad–check it out. Hummus body/wings with a gently curved neck and head made of the yellow bell pepper. Lovely.
Wow! Those berries look so yummy! I can’t wait to get fresh ones here!
Diana
I bet the neighbors loved your singing! LOOK at those strawberries!
We just got fresh strawberries at our farmers market, aren’t they the best? Lemony hummus sounds delicious.
You might have said this at some point, but how did you and Matt meet? I know it was in school, but how? You two are so cute!
didn’t you mean Sara Bareilles instead of Sarah Borellis?
How do you bike back with groceries? It sounds tough! I used to run to Whole Foods sometimes and whenever I got home my fruit would be all bruised and my bread smashed!
Strawberries =) I’ve been craving those like crazy. Found out the one day I didn’t eat them that i’m fighting off a small bug. They are my favorite food. Better go have some before bed.
Getting back to “real” and “normal” food after being away on vacation is always such a good feeling. And of course, so is singing Celine Dion – outside – loudly!
Awesome!
singing makes everything better! i tend to sing all the time while on the elliptical or tredmill.. people probably think I’m crazy but it makes everything more fun!
Becky,
The double noise does worry me a bit, but in a way the headphones block the mower noise and it’s not as loud. I don’t turn up the volume much either. I would LOVE a push mower, but we can’t afford two right now.
Ange C,
I think it was for the month only
LauraECU ,
If you can afford the F6 or F11, I’d upgrade to those. Whenever my F4 dies, I’ll get a fancier one.
Chelsea ,
Yay iPhone, BOO period!
Lisa ,
LOL.
Brooke ,
We met during freshman orientation of college, but didn’t start dating for a semester. He had on Duke shorts and I asked him if he was a fan. We were really good friends for a few months first.
sj ,
Yup. My Google search sent me to the wrong spelling.
Christina ,
A backpack, a bike basket and a bag over my shoulder. It’s all downhill and only about half a mile home on sidewalks.
Kath
I must say I would mow any lawn if I’d get to eat that kind of food at the end of it. It looks simple but still looks yummy.
