Mom’s Play Date

October 31, 2008

I’ve had such fun entertaining Becca + Zora this afternoon :) Zora loves our bear Beaker all dressed up for Halloween!

When I got home from class I walked 30 minutes to the grocery store for some kale + oranges for lunch. I made this salad for our lunch, which I have been thinking about since I made it back in APRIL: Colorful Wheatberry Salad. This time around I subbed out the spinach for kale and added blue cheese.

We also had toast with pumpkin butter

Here’s our black and orange table set-up

After lunch we took Zora out for a walk – that lasted almost 2 hours! She fell asleep right when we were heading back from our first loop, so we decided to do another 45 minute loop. Becca’s pedometer said we did about 10,000 steps. It was effortless, catching-up chitter chatter and flew by :) Wish we lived closer so we could walk together more (and when I have a stroller too some day….not anytime soon so don’t think that was a hint!)

Can’t wait for trick or treating to start. My friend at Winthrop, Shameka, got me this pumpkin beer for my birthday today! I can’t wait to try it out tonight 8) Thanks Shameka!

Off to play some more until dinnertime. I think I’m ready for a snack!

Sald looks wonderful! I love blue cheese!

Hope you like the beer. I had one earlier this week. We had bought it last weekend because we couldn’t find the Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale. Luckily, our friends found the Blue Moon one and picked that up too. I do like the Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale better. I would like to try the Dogfish Pumpkin ale but the fiance doesn’t care for the pumpkin ale – that a lot of beer for just little ole me!

Enjoy your Halloween!

Your Halloween plate set up is great! I should start taking the time to set a nice spot to eat…instead of sitting on the futon watching the news!

Those lazy walks with kids in strollers are great! My best friend’s daughter is now almost 4, but when she was tiny, I think my friend lost all her baby weight walking and talking!

What a cutie!

Have you ever thought of ways you might tweak your recipes for kids? You’ve probably had to do something similar for your classes. The oatmeal this morning is a great idea!

Lisa ,
I haven’t given it tons of thought, but I hope I can make food fun and enjoyable – veggies included. We shall see when the day comes.

Tell us what you think of the pumpkin beer, I have had it on tap but not in the bottle. We are having Bufflo Bill’s Pumpkin beer tonight. I did not convince my fiance to brew pumpkin beer for the fall :-(

By the way did you carve pumpkins this year?

Hi,
You and your daughter are adorable! How old is she? I have a five year old and, i must admit, I don’t feed her the healthiest foods. Do you let your daughter choose what she wants to eat, or do you plan it and put food in front of her. I tend to just let my daughter eat whatever she wants, but only because I think she would get cranky if i made her eat healthy food like me.

WendyF ,
No pumpkins this year. I just didn’t want to buy a big one, so I bought edible decor instead: squash!

Lilly ,
That’s my friend Becca and her daughter!
