Matt and I had the best of intentions to get up and run together at 6 this morning but when the alarm went off I could NOT wake up!! I am normally the light sleeper and wake up quickly and today even Matt was surprised when I refused to stir or open my eyes. Guess I really have been soaking in the sleep lately. The good news is the sun is out and it’s a gorgeous day and I’ve got the time later to bike to the gym
We made up for our couples’ run by making breakfast together.
OIAJ!
I didn’t know if they would fit in this little jar, but they did!
1/3 cup oats, 2% milk, water, pinch salt
Half giant ripe banana
Vanilla
Almond Haze residue
Spoonful pumpkin butter
The Best Damn Granola (~1/4 cup)
Tsp of Nuttzo, buried deep
Pumpkin Spice + Christmas Blend
= romance!!

Good luck with your research. That is pretty much what my day will be spent doing (in addition to 2 classes) ! Fun Fun!
btw that is such a cute lil’ AB jar!
Pumpkin spice & Christmas blend sounds like delicious mix!
I love this new oats in a jar phenomenon that everyone is doing. Resourceful way to get the last bit! Good luck on your research!
Aww, what a sweet way to avoid not having to wash an extra dish!
i love it when my breakfast is almost too big for the bowl (or in your case the jar). it’s the best! enjoy your workout!
Sometimes you just need some good darn sleep.
that is probably the perfect jar to use for oats in a jar! i hate jars with lots of stupid angles because its really hard to get everything out with a spoon. but the warm oats would melt all the delicious butter, making it a snap to eat.
sometimes staying bed is required
glorious bowl (scratch that, JAR!) of oats
So sweet that you two enjoyed your breakfasts together – I love it!
I love oats in a little jar, I think it’s so much more satisfying
That coffee sounds lovely!
oats in a jar look delish!
love your photos, i think all of your pretty placemats make your pics really great
jenna
That’s a fancy oats in a jar!
Sometimes we just need a little extra sleepies
I wanted to stay in bed this am but I had to teach….:) Your breakfast looks incredible. Love the idea of oats in a jar- still haven’t made it. I want to pick up some pumpkin spice coffee! Looks like you two had an incredible weekend. Josh and I are thinking about going hiking next weekend and your pics got me all excited to go!
Hey Kath! I’m loving the hiking pictures! Just so you know, you inspired me to try a persimmon, and thanks to you, I’m hooked too! I can’t seem to find any nutritionals on them though, to see what kind of goods it’s providing for my body?! haha. Any idea?
YAAAAY the almond haze – is that the one from me?? Lasted a while, eh?? haha
your coffee sounds like a holiday wonderland!
I had a morning just like that – and I am normally a very light sleeper too. Delicious breakfast!
Glad to hear the space heater is working–I’ve been in the market for one b/c my bedroom is the TUNDRA! I’ll have to check that one out.
oats in a jar = great way to start any day!
awww, seeing Christmas Blend warms my heart! so excited for the holidays :O)
OIAJ! Yum, yum. Have fun at the gym later:)
Good luck researching lipid metab. I miss that class
Between the raves about Fresh Market coffee and the Thanksgiving blend from Starbucks, I need to do something about my coffee situation (Starbucks espresso blend; nothing festive!) ASAP.
I have never seen oats look so good as when you make them! I love space heaters
Those oats look awesome! I love your article on Gather, free food in any form is always the hardest for me to resist.
Hehe, itty bitty OIAJ!
Jenn
that little jar of oatmeal looks so cute… and yummy.
those oats look out of this world!
I love space heaters, i’m always getting cold and my house tends to be super cold all the time!
OIAJ! What a great idea!
my hubby is never up early enough to have breakfast with me! i am so much more the early riser! so nice you guys can have breakfast together!
With the shorter days, I’m finding it harder to wake up early! I’m not looking forward to the next month or so as the days get even shorter. Some how I managed to get out of bed at 6:15 and to a 7am yoga class
Felt good to get it accomplished first thing.
I love the shape of that jar for the pic.
I had the same problem this morning. I haven’t been getting good sleep so I couldn’t wake up and when I did I was sick to my stomach. I stuck to oats and tea this morning and will workout this afternoon.
Yummy pumpkin spice plus Christmas blend sounds wonderful! I have not been able to get enough sleep lately either! I think it is a combo of the change of seasons/time change/lots of high intensity workouts. Sleep is important!

I see you have been doing Hot Yoga! Don’t you just love it??? I practice Bikram. Right now I am right in the middle of a 30 Bikram Challenge (actually Day 16 is tonight). Practicing every day you really start to see a diffenece in the postures. Love it! How many days to you do Hot Yoga?
I’m surprised the oats fit into that itty bitty jar too! Magic!
I found it hard to get up today too. It’s freezing cold, wet, and cloudy here today. Not to mention my late night and busy day yesterday! At least you guys get some sunshine!
Have a great day Kath!
Space heaters can be a real life saver. Love them!
Yummy breakfast! Good luck on your research!
Sometimes, you just need to sleep in. Good on you for listening to your body.
The hubby and I were also supposed to get up and exercise this morning but we couldn’t get up either! We opted to stay in bed, and I’m so thankful for that this morning.
Yours is the second OIAJ I’ve seen today, and I’ve got a jar ready to go in my fridge! Can’t wait for breakfast tomorrow
Hope you enjoyed your morning…I may never regret a morning workout, but I also never regret sleeping in a little!
I love the coffee combo!! And it’s great that you and Matt can have breakfast together in the mornings- especially a candlelight breakfast
Your breakfast looks so good, I’ve really gotta try this whole breakfast in a jar thing I see so much of it just looks so damn good! x x
It’s amazing how much oatmeal those little containers will hold isn’t it?! Couples breakfasts are the best.
Maybe your body is just trying to get readjusted after the travel + time change? It seems like that sometimes takes a while.
When I saw OIAJ, I immediately thought “ouija”, as in ouija board! Maybe your oats can predict your future?
Enjoy the lipid metabolism research. I took a lipids class in grad school and thought it was fascinating!
Oh yes, space heaters are amazing. My internship a couple summers ago was in an office and they kept it so freezing cold that I always had a space heater pointed directly at my feet.. Otherwise I’d have been an icicle!
you always have such interesting jars of nut butters! some that i’ve never seen/heard of before!
ooh the pumpkin spice and christmas blend sounds like a great combo!
Kath-
I don’t remember quite how I stumbled upon your blog, but have been an avid reader for some time now. As a result, when I was awarded the Kreativ Blogger award this morning and asked to award 7 other blogs, I couldn’t help but pass one along to you. You can check it out here (along with your shout out), http://rateyourworld.wordpress.com/ , and know that I appreciate all the work you put into your incredible blog!

Sami,
I found persimmons right in Calorie King’s database
VeggieGirl,
Yup! The end of it! You converted me into a hazelnut butter lover
Traci,
I’m a winter yogi and have been going to hot vinyasa once a week. I can’t really afford to go any more.
Janice,
Thanks for the award!
kath
What a lovely little jar of oats! Glad you got a space heater that works out well for you!
I love that you two exercise together! I got the boyfriend to jog with me once. Never again since then. Such is life.
LOL “almond haze residue” sounds like the makings of a delish breakfast!
Yum! I wish I could get my husband to eat oatmeal…maybe someday.
