Megan: The Runner’s Kitchen

May 30, 2009

A few months ago I visited the Popover Cafe on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Without exaggeration, I can say that my spinach salad was one of the BEST that I have ever eaten. The base was a mound of spinach topped with thinly sliced red onion, creamy goat cheese, 4 strips of crisp bacon, roasted pear, orange and strawberry slices, and candied walnuts.

On the side, I enjoyed the cafe’s signature popover with fresh strawberry butter. The popover reminded me of a buttermilk biscuit-croissant hybrid. So flaky and delicious!

High quality bacon on top of a salad …now that’s my type of dish!

Oh my, that looks absolutely fantastic! Next time we’re in NYC I’d love to stop by that cafe.

Strawberry BUTTER? *drool*

I love, love, love popovers…especially when they’re hot from the oven. Mmm…

I’ve never thought of those flavors together before – how neat!

That popover looks crazy! I am intrigued. I bet it was delicious with that strawberry butter.
