Here he is, my man who cooks!
Tonight was the 24th Annual Men Who Cook Fundraiser, and Matt was invited by Mikey B to be one of about 70 Cville men who made a dish for the evening.
All you can eat madness!!!
Outfit du jour –
Haven’t worn that dress in years! I think since this even we went to in Savannah in 2007! Boy were we young!
Matt of course brought Great Harvest Bread. He actually was up at 4AM this morning to drive to Warrenton to help Pablo with his day’s breads so he could say that he technically made them himself! What a trooper.
Flavors du jour
We served the breads with a trio of spreads –
A Smoked [Paprika] Bean Dip (recipe not recommended!)
Rosemary Whipped Butter [simple and delicious!]
And Kelsey’s Pimento Cheese recipe – with more mayo and less yogurt for the crowd. Made with those spiced pecans from lunch!
The bread was definitely my favorite part of the appetizers
And we had a GREAT response from people – including one woman whose jaw was literally on the floor and she could not stop eating them! We loved it!
I had a few more tastes of things, but kept portions to one bite each – had to save room!
I had a glass of wine to start the evening. I always ask the bartenders to pour me a teeeeeeny glass to sip to slow me down. This was the best he could do! It was a tiny pour in a tiny glass.
When cocktail hour was over, we moved into the main ballroom for the entrees and desserts.
Madness!
Mike had some killer beef sliders!
We went around the room and gathered samples to deposit back on the table. It was like an Easter egg hunt!
Ta-da!
So much to taste. I nibbled my way around the plates and actually didn’t get too full. My favorite bites were the Blue Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms and the Seafood Paella!
I had a second half-ish glass of wine with dinner
The real fun always happens when the sun goes down and dessert starts.
There were probably 10 desserts out there and I tasted half of them. Again – one bite! Except for the Giant Oreo, which won over my heart and got half eaten! The Key Lime Pie Goop (crumbles from pieces) was also pretty epic. I’m pretty sure I had 3 bites of that ; )
We had much fun hanging out with Jess + Mike!
You’d think I’d be totally stuffed, but my whole goal tonight was to go to bed and be able to sleep on my stomach – mission accomplished!
I took today totally off from exercise – all that biking Thursday and Body Pump Friday and my body commanded a rest. I like to time my complete rest days with days with horrible weather that would make exercise hard anyways. Today was well planned since we had some KILLER storms this afternoon!
I spent all of today inside. Tomorrow – I move out!

What a fun event! Did Matt get asked to participate because they know you two with Great Harvest opening soon?
Sort of. Mike got him connected.
You look simply stunning!
Aw shucks. Thanks : )
How fun! I love that you got to have tastes of so many things!
Kath you look amazing in your dress! You were young in 07 and you STILL are
And you look gorg in both sets of photos!
Those desserts. Oh My. I posted yesterday about Oreos and got plenty of comments about Oreos but I still like them
The looks of that Giant Oreo (and the bananas foster!!) have my name all over it!
What a great event, and how wonderful that you ladies all got to be catered for
Rest days are always good especially when you have been working so hard! Have a great Sunday!

You guys look great. Loving that little black dress! Looks like a fun night!! Can’t wait to spend some quality outdoor time tomorrow!!
You mentioned two of my favorite things…seafood paella and bananas foster! Mmmmm
Loving the little black dress! Isn’t it so nice to have a dress that can always be ‘in style’?
You look gorgeous!! Took the day totally off from exercise, too. Felt great and now I’ll be itching to move tomorrow!!
What an awesome event! Everything looks scrumptious, especially the bread.

What a fun event. You look amazing in that dress. The perfect black dress.
HOT LBD. Food looks amazing
1. That dress looks lovely on you.
2. It’s possible would kill someone for that parmesan pesto bread.
3. You’ve mentioned bananas foster love before (though I agree that the giant oreo would kick bf’s butt) so I am going to link back to my own blog like a creeper to recommend that you make my banana foster bar recipe – http://eatingchalk.com/eats/desserts/banana-foster-bars/
Looks amazing!!! So does your Hello Dolly Pie!!
Thanks! I forgot you were a fan of those too!
U look fabulous in that black dress!

You look puuuuurdy!
You look like Jennifer Aniston in that second porch pic! Hot!
<3
Looks like a great event! And that bread looks AMAZING!
Sounds like a good time all around! BTW, I saw a Great Harvest Bread while I was in WI and was SO excited to try it out after hearing how delish it is on your blog, but then it was CLOSED that day! Hopefully, I’ll be in the neighborhood again so I can eat there for real.
Try try again!!
I hope the event got you both some great advertising!
I agree with you… I am sure that I would have loved the bleu cheese stuffed mushrooms, because, once again, I love bleu cheese. Anything stuffed with bleu cheese, especially big green olives, makes my palate happy

Teehee, I love that you downplayed the yoghurt for the masses
Those flavoured breads are amazing!
Love your simple black dress – you look fabulous in it!!
You look absolutely gorgeous!
What a beautiful dress!!
That pimento cheese spread looks delicious! I’ll have to try that sometime.
Pesto parmesan and feta spinach bread?! Both of those sound incredible. I’m getting hungry just thinking about them. You look great in that dress!
Looks great! You and the food
But I don’t think you always need to “disclaim” how much you eat i.e. “one bite”, “not feeling full”, etc…it’s food, why not just enjoy and not have to explain it? Don’t know, NOT a big deal, so don’t take it the wrong way please!
I personally don’t see it as something she “explains”. That almost sounds negative. I see tons of comments asking Kath how to handle all the dinner parties, buffets, dessert bars, etc. It seems to me like less of a disclaimer and more of what works for her.. since its her food blog
Not meant to be negative! I apologize. Of course it’s her blog and she can say what she wants…whatever happened to free speech?
It is a simple comment in passing that I forgot about until you brought it up again…
That is a FABULOUS dress, Kath! You and Matt both looked fierce in your photos…it’s nice to dress up on a weekend!
My goodness, Kath..you look fantastic!! Absolutely gorgeous
Looks like such a fun night. But you totally stole the show in that dress, you are seriously glowing – beautiful as always!
Wow! You look amazing in that dress!
your LBD dress is fierce, kath. you should rock it more often!
such a handsome couple!
and anything called a giant oreo deserves to be half eaten. just sayin
So jealous — that dinner looks amazing! I wouldn’t have been able to restrain myself to one bite of each…
YOWZA!!! Smoking hot LBD Kath!
The bread looks pretty amazing, but GIANT OREOS?!?! Oh my. I’m glad I don’t have that recipe. Sounds fabulous.
what amazing looking tastes of all the food! I love the precision you capture this with
Looks great and you looked gaw-geous, as always. Did any commenters mention that it may look like you’re sending a message with you middle finger in one of the oreo pictures? Of course you weren’t, but being a mom of someone your age, I thought I’d mention it!
Haha – oops!
Love your dress.. and LOVE a man who can cook.. isn’t is so sexy??!
Wow, this looks like an incredible event! SO much fun and amazing food. Plus, I’m certain this was great advertisement for the bakery! I love your dress too… it’s fun to dig out old favorites from the closet.
What a fun event!!! Matt looks so cute in his shirt/tie and you look beautiful in your dress! Love the giant oreo. That would have won my heart as well!

Looks like it was a successful, fun event! So much great food and you guys looked great.
That pesto parmesan bread amazing (and all that bread really)!! I think I could eat it for days and never tire from it – and I haven’t even tried it before!!
I cannot be trusted at events like that. I always come home very stuffed!
You look amazing!!!
I’m always so impressed by your ability to eat intuitively when you nibble your way through a meal. Were you always good at that, or did it take practice?
Definitely practice!! Gosh I used to just stuff myself at dessert buffets
Man Who Cooks is married to Woman Who Looks Stunning in Black Dress.
That bread sounds amazing…heck, ok, the whole dang evening sounds amazing.
Yum, that bread sounds soo good! And the butter and cheese! Looks like you guys had a great time.
That dress is amazing! I love it! And all that food! Looks like such a fun night!
What a cool event!! Matt’s additions look totally delicious. I might have spent the whole night at his station! And you look FANTASTIC in that dress! Gotta love when you find an older item in your closet that just works so perfectly for what you need. Enjoy your Sunday
Looks like such a fun night! Glad everyone enjoyed the bread! Looks like it was a hit. You’ll be happy to know I tried my first Great Harvest breads this weekend! It is offered at our local farmers market and I finally bought a loaf and a whole wheat cinnamon bun! Fabulous! Everything you have said about their bread and more…..I am definitely going to be a return customer!
Yay!
Thank you all so much for your sweet comments!!
You looked just beautiful! I love the dress on you. It is so flattering! I love a girl who isn’t afraid to eat while wearing a formal dress. I purposely had the seamstress leave some room in my wedding dress, so I could eat! Haha.
Love Matt’s apron. Does he get to keep it? My hubby and I just had a date night at home and cooked up a delicious dinner together. I later posted on FB what a fun evening it was and that my favorite part might have been seeing my husband in a frilly apron. I’m thinking I really should find him a manly one like Matt’s, especially after he reads all the facebook comments I got!
You look so pretty Kath! I love the little black dress!
That dress looks fabulous on you! Looks like a really fun event with lots of yummy eats!
Wow, what a spread! I expect your mother and I to be invited to this event next year. And I already know I won’t be sleeping on my stomach afterward.
I would invite you, but it costs $100 per person!
Hello,
My husband, Mike, and I had the pleasure of meeting your amazing daughter this past Friday evening. I know you must be so proud of her. Her accomplishments are so impressive.
Yes she is amazing and special, but of course I’m biased — I’m her Dad.
You deserve to be biased! You and her mom did well!
um i hope the person who asked yesterday if you gained weight is reading the blog today-you look FANTASTIC. honestly, the dress fits you like a glove! and the short hair-really really flattering
I am one of many to say this, but that dress looks AMAZING on you. it’s so flattering to your figure!
Yep, another comment about how great you look in that dress, Kath!
While visiting my uncle in Denver I went to my first Great Harvest. Let’s just say I had 2 loaves of bread in my carry-on bag when I flew home to Alabama!! Holy Yum!
It took me a mere 3 days to finish the Spinach Feta Loaf! So good.
!!!
Thanks again y’all
Kath, you look awesome!! you can never go wrong with a little back dress. rock on blog lady friend!
That dress looks amazing on you, Kath!
So cool! I used to work for MACAA. This looks like a great event – SO yummy!

The event also looked pretty amazing and delicious.
