Sandwichmaker, sandwichmaker, make me a wich!
Before we got elbow deep in sandwiches, we had a pow wow over coffee -
Eat local. Drink strong coffee.
Pickle wrapping!!
Prep for the day ahead
Soon enough it was time to make sandwiches! We are serving the whole GH HQ office today plus some community members.
My first was a roast beef – condiments, meat, cheese
Intimidation
Veg!
Slice
Gorrrrgeous!
We quartered up a bunch and are delivering them to local businesses
Then it was time to make our own lunches
A KERF-style sandwich includes tons of veggies and lots of flava on Sunflower Wheat bread
I made one with swiss cheese, avocado, mustard, tomato, pepper, cuc, lettuce, S+P
Do you know what makes the GH sandwiches so amazing? THE BREAD.
I wrapped mine into two separate halves with two pickles. I ate one half early (11:30) and am saving the second half for the afternoon – along with a pear.
Hope you all got to eat a delicious sandwich soon!

Okay, now I’m REALLY disappointed you guys didn’t choose Asheville as your location for a GH! I want to try their bread!
I know what you mean…I was wishing for the Jacksonville, FL…..I have been wanting to try it myself – it always looks SO tasty!!
Those do look like delicious sandwiches- I love how THICK and full of good stuff they are! Though I must say, my favorite part of a sandwich is always the pickle
The bread does look amazing on those sammies. That’s fun that you’re actually making them for people! Kind of puts the pressure on, but in a good way.
Those sandwiches look so good! I love how thick the bread is. I totally need to try a sandwich on GH bread! Everything looks so fresh and tasty!
GH Honey Whole Wheat, for ever! It’s my fave, and I buy a loaf once a week. Hello, $20/month, but totally worth it. Yum, yum.
Your sandwich looks delicious. I’m craving crispy summer veggies right now.
~
Yum! Now I really wanna sandwich! I love how fresh all the ingredients look
THAT does look delicious! I foresee beautiful sandwiches in my near future….
I just found a Great Harvest like an hour from my house…. I might have to make a voyage this weekend to get me some bread!!!!!!
You can make me a sammie, anytime!
I love the wrapped pickles…cute!
And your tshirt. I WANT IT!!! Tooooo cute! Where did you score that one?
I feel like I should tell you about my favorite sandwich… It was from a great little grocery store where I used to live (and before I was dairy free)
Fabulous bread – hummus + gouda, (I think grainy mustard, it’s been awhile) LOADED with veggies + marinated artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. It was THE BEST sandwich I’ve ever had, and any time I go there, that is the FIRST place I stop.
OH YUM! I wish we had great harvest here, it looks fantastic!
I’ll take 2 KERF’s to Maine please!! =)
Love all the behind the scenes of what goes on and into all this!
You’re a pro Kath!!! Now I’m thinking I need to switch professions and go into sandwich making!
I love avocado and lots of veggies on my sandwiches! And plenty of pickles.
Now I’m in a mood for a sandwich- minus the pickles!
you’re hair always falls so nicely! do you have thick hair? or is it just the way you cut it?
Thanks! It’s not super thick. I think it’s just super straight! I do curl it out with a brush (like today) sometimes.
I never remember or think about putting salt and pepper on sammies. I need to do that more often!
Wow, your sandwich looks amazing! I love GH
Pickles! Those sandwiches look great. And I love that GH is so into giving back to the community!
That looks like a fantastic sandwich – veggie sandwiches are my favorite.
I want you sandwich!
I meant your sandwich! The veggies…just to make that clear…
Yum! Sandwich perfection. Glad you got some strong coffee this morning.
Here an O N I O N , there an O N I O N, everywhere an O N I O N ! Wow, I am impressed…you actually touched it (well kinda). We’ll make an onion lover out of you yet. All this time hearing about you opening a Great Harvest Bakery, it never occurred to me you would have to have a daily relationship with onions. Vidalia are sweeter and less odor and the best–maybe that could be the one you use in your store? You sure are a trooper, and I have to admit…I did laugh–not at you, but with you
LOL
We might not serve them on our sandwiches..
seriously??!!!
naw … really?
I have to say that would make me a disappointed customer!
Ummmm, I just want to take a HUGE bite out of your KERF-wich. Thanks for the inspiration to use guac. as a spread and slice the peppers thin like that. Yumm-o! I might have to have a sandwich for dinner
If you wanted to fly to PA to deliver me one of those heavenly looking sandwiches, I wouldnt complain
Beautiful sandwiches made by a beautiful sandwich maker! That lilac color looks great on you.
I had a sandwich today but it wasn’t on great harvest bread
Looks like you guys are having a great time with all that bread!
I am inspired to get some sandwich fixin’s when I go to the store next! I might just have to make a special trip to your GH when it opens to see what all this bread hype is about.
Your roast beef looks like the perfect sandwich in my book!
I love your veggie goodness sandwich!!
Is the coffee really strong?
I thought that first picture of it was actually tea!
Jessica
Actually it wasn’t!! I think I was just thinking that I wished it were…
it’s so true about the GH bread – i’ve been buying fresh loaves from other bakeries and nothing NOTHING compares!
love love love deep fill sarnies! you look like a pro
oh mu – now THAT is one awesome sandwich!
Those sandwiches are gorgeous! I want one!
only the prettiest sandwiches in the whole world!
That just made me so hungry!!! Your veg sandwich looks so good! I wish we had a GH near me, but the closest is over 200 miles away!
Avocado on a sandwich?! YES! Gosh, that bread looks good…
Can you pllllllllease refrain on the oatmeal snobbery?! I make rolled oats in the microwave every day and they taste delish. They’re just as nutritious as the cooking method you advocate but I don’t have the avalanche of time you have to prep. While my oats are in the microwave, I can check my e-mails, run around getting ready for work, etc.
ha. I agree. instant with hot water added is my go-to on a work day when I’m eating in front of my computer reading emails.
Those sandwiches look so yummy!! Great Harvest aren’t planning to expand to Europe, are they?
x
I will dream of that sandwich tonight. Looks awesome!!
I love STRONG coffee too. I started drinking the Keurig coffee, but I’m not certain it’s strong enough for me.
That’s why I don’t like Keurig! I love the concept, but it’s always weak to me
Looks great! I like how you saved half for later, I totally do that too since I get hungry every couple hours (even if I were to eat the whole thing).
Those sandwiches look SOOO GOOD! Sandwiches are probably my #1 favorite way to eat anything, lol.
Looks like you’re becoming a sandwich-making PRO!
Fun post!! I can’t wait to hear what sandwiches you decide to have at your GH. After all your talk about Great Harvest bread all week, I had to go when I was in Nashville over the weekend! I got two delicious loaves and you were right, the bread is simply delicious. I love how soft it is!
Can you ship your sandwiches?
Obviously you’re going to have to create a signature KERF sandwich for your GH. Maybe even a tribute to the bears…?
Ooo I’ll have to think about that one!
Oh my goodness your sandwich looks sooo good. I must eat avacado tonight.
Like a much improved Subway! Much, much improved…
Make me a KERF wich
I WANT GH bread…..arg, is there was only one around me! I’m jealous indeed!
I have to say… We were in Rochester this weekend and drove by a Great Harvest. We stopped for lunch–The sandwiches were AMAZING! So amazing in fact that we stopped by on our way out of town for more sandwiches, bread, and goodies to take home!
Wow! Those look incredible, Kath. Still no GH in Pittsburgh, but I’ll have to make it a point to stop next time I’m in Philly.
lmho..alright, Matt had better not use this to backup the “Make me a sadwich!” line! Even though you can make a dang good one.
ooh looks like a great sandwich!
Oh my goodness! That veggie sandwich looks SO tempting. I wish our avocado’s weren’t a million dollars right now :l
They are outrageous right now
I just discovered that the Colorado Springs branch is no longer there! I was very sad to return and find it gone
Hmm… didn’t they know you’re already the Goddess of Wiches?
Hope it tasted as good as you hoped!
the bread really does look great
I really want a roast beef sandwich now! Yum!
You probably have said this and I missed it, but where did you get your Eat Local shirt? I love it!
I bought it last night at Patagonia!
That really does look mouth watering. There’s something about a veggie sandwich. Nothing like it
I love how you can make your own specialty sandwich.
It must be fun to have all the bread and ingredients at your
disposal.
Pickles are the best! I love them! My son always loves getting a pickle with sandwiches!
Your sandwich looks so hearty and healthy! An A +++++ in my book!!!!
Those sandwiches look delicious. yum veg.
I LOVE your shirt!
I am just not creative when it comes to sandwiches…. these look amazing.
I love my local GH’s sandwich’s. I wish they were creative as you.
I just found out that the GH near me is closing.
The bread looks fabulous! That is one awesome sandwich. Mmm…
oh myyyy…your veggie sandwich looks SO. GOOD.
I officially have a craving for a veggie sandwich!
Love the onion pic – hilarious! Your facial expressions are worth 1,000 words! I have found a Great Harvest in Independence, MO which isn’t too far away for me. The next time I head to KC shopping I’m going to stop in and sample the wares….!
Ok, now I REALLY want a sandwich! They all look amazing. Especially the veggie one for yourself.
I really like your eat local shirt btw.
Dying to try me some Great Harvest Bread!
I was happy to see a Great Harvest on my way home from the car dealership this evening in Atlanta. It’s not too far from my athletic center so I will have to go soon to check out what this bread is all about. Can’t wait!
Great job on your sandwich making
EVERYTHING looks so fresh and yummy!
GH bread is seriously the BEST i’ve ever had.. and I’m a bread FREAK!
I wish I could try that bread.. it looks so good!
How can you wear an “Eat Local” t-shirt while holding a Starbucks coffee mug?? Made me cringe! There are SO many great local coffee shops that deserve business more than a big chain like Starbucks.
Do you think I was the one who chose the coffee we had this morning? And it was actually Peet’s coffee – how ironic.
Yummmm! And yes, the BREAD definitely does make or break the sandwich!
I had to laugh reading this blog! I work at a MN ghbco and I was eating a turkey sandwich as I read! YUM
hopefully someday I can visit your store, I’ curious to see the fun sandwiches you’ll be adding to your menu.
AG
What kind of muesli did you use this morning or could you suggest a good one. It looks yummy as well as you sammies!!
Thx Heather
One from the Good Food Store in Missoula, MT! Go to any store with bulk bins and you should find some. They are usually all good!
Omg, those sandwiches look SO DELICIOUS. Please come open a great Harvest in Leesburg, Virginia! Haha.
Kath, I made the peanut noodles you posted the recipe for a month of so ago. Omg. Best peanut noodles EVER. My husband couldn’t believe he had eaten a meal that was basically vegan, haha. Thank you!!!
Mmmmm I love me some sandwiches! I want yours……and all those pickles please because I’m obsessed with them.
Those sandwiches are beefed UP!!! Look at all those veggies – love
Your sandwhich is so colorful with all those veggies. But all your meals always are colorful!
Your sandwich is pretty much exactly what I would have ordered, it looks so good. I cannot wait to visit my local GH, which I believe is the NH ones that your new friend are opening, score!
wwwhhhyyy do i not have a GH near me!!?? all these pics have me craving their bread and I’ve never even had it! I’m seriously considering opening a GH now ; )
On an off topic, how’s Karen doing since surgery?
She’s doing great – thanks for asking!
Smushed avocado is the ultimate sandwich topping! I always feel like something is missing if it’s not on my sandwich.
oh what beautiful pictures and sandwiches. Delicious sandwiches!
I wish I lived somewhere where coffee was grown so eating local could actually include strong coffee!
For some reason sandwhiches made by other people taste sooo muchbetter! I am sure your made yours with lots of lovee!
Yummm, that looks FABulous!! Cute photos of you too! This must be so exciting…you’re going to have a store soon!!!!!!
Love your headband. Super cute!
I am seriously obsessed with sandwiches right now!
OK, where did that “Eat Local” shirt come from? I need one!
I will gladly eat one of your sandwiches anytime. I hope you sell gluten-free bread in your store.
Ohh those look so good!
