Does this photo look like the weather is hot or cold?
How about this one?
This one?
Sure looks like 20* at times, but it’s HOT outside! Or, rather, not cold! A glorious 61* and warm enough for some outdoor dining with my girl Faith!
We walked to lunch together at a new shop called The Farm, opened by our family friend Bill Davies. It’s a gourmet grocery and café all in one.
Small but cozy and warm inside, we browsed through and selected brie + apple baguettes for lunch
This was so good!! Brie, apple, arugula, and honey on Albemarle Baking Baguette
I had more apple on the side along with some kettle chips and a lemonade
Faith and I agreed the visit felt like we were on vacation!
My workout this morning was a bit wimpy, but that was to be expected. I’ve got a few hours of work to do this afternoon. But I’m hoping to squeeze in one more walk – just because this weather will not stick!

Looks delicious! Is it really only 2.50 and 3.50 for sandwiches!?
I think they were both $3.50, but yes. They were pretty tiny though!
oops looked like a 2 in the first one, but I think maybe that’s the shelf blocking it. Even for a small sandwich, good price! You can’t even get some movie theater popcorn for that anymore. I’m jealous of all the cute lil places you always go to.
What a cute little cafe! I love local hole in the wall places like that! I would have loved that sandwich paninied!
Sandwiches can be paninied at The Farm C’Ville!!
Very cute! Saw that place the other day when I was driving downtown, glad to hear it’s as awesome as it looks!!
wow, what a beautiful day!! it LOOKS warm here, but it’s a only a mere 30-something degrees. looks like a cute little restaurant!
That sandwich looks great, I’ll have to pick up some supplies to make that for my lunch next week!
Those baguette’s look delicious! When I travel for work (and can expense it to a client
) I always get a Balducci’s turkey, apple and brie baguette at JFK. Deeelicious!
What a cute little place! And I love that sandwich combo
Um. Chips. I. vant. cheeps.
That place looks great!
Your weather looks like ours but I think we’re at like 65 degrees.
i love the apple + brie combo!
you are so lucky with the 60 degree weather… it is snowy and freezing here!
So envious of your warm weather, Chicago is currently being hit with a snow storm. Yuck!
I’m in a suburb of Chicago also, looking at all the snow that fell. Not looking forward to brushing off the car to go home! Well, it’s January so snow is expected
Suburban Chicago gal here too! It’s super slippery out on those roads this afternoon…careful folks!
I’ve always wanted to go to a cute sandwich shop like there – without driving
What are you working on now? Enjoy that weather -it’s the completely opposite here – brrr!
Oh my gosh…I love the look of that place! I want to move to your town! Weather sounds great and your shops look inviting! That sandwich looks out of this world! Here, the snow has turned to rain…I have one smelly wet dog to deal with! lol
WOW— beautiful weather and awesome sandwiches!! What a great day.
I love sandwiches with brie! Always delicious!
Love the name “The Farm.”
I’m a sucker for a cute little place like that.
Isn’t this weather something? It’s so nice today (so sorry I had to be inside all day and barely saw it)- but it’s supposed to SNOW tonight!? And then a weekend of 20s and 30s…. so glad I’ll be in Florida.
Hope you feel better. The Farm looks really nice.
I went outside to have a glorious sandwich, too (vegetarian chicken walnut orange wrap). Was thee best sandwich. and close to work. So now its a new score for me. Glad to hear you made it outside in the nice weather.
I drove by the other day and was wondering what it was. Great job promo-ing for your friend!
I think I’m going to have Brie+apple on bread for dinner because yours looks so good!
I love dirty chips. Have you tried the Sweet Potato variety?
No, but I bet they’re good!
I love their chips, too – my favorite brand
The salt n vinegar ones are DELICIOUS!
Oh my goodness – I can’t believe it’s in the 60s there! I’m so jealous! That will hopefully wipe out your cold in no time
That place looks adorable and definitely one that I feel like I could HAPPILY get into. I love how many cute/cozy places are in the Cville area!
Looks like a delicious sandwich! Glad to hear the weather is so nice
Your lunch sounds great! I love quaint little shops like that.
I envy your 61*. It’s 16* here. When I caught your tweet about this new post it had been up for 26 minutes. Appropriate much.
I’m loving the weather today! Wish I didn’t have to stay after work for a meeting, would have loved to take a walk outside [in the daylight
]! An apple and cheese sandwich sounds great, especially on a tasty baguette…
I’m a little jealous, as I sit here looking out the window at sideways snow.
That looks like such a cute little shop! And that sandwich combo sounds yummy!
Where is this place?! I’m coming into town next Saturday?
It’s across from Spudnuts – near the Pavilion. Ring a bell?
Oy, we’re buried in snow! Jealous!
What a great place. I love that more and more places are serving healthy choices. I hope to see these places someday say “millions serves” like McDonald’s. I am glad you share all of these neat places with your readers, it gives us inspiration that there are places you can go for good wholesome food.
I really like The Farm’s signage!
The baguettes look great!

mmmmmmmmm! I want a sandy!
I hope the 60 degree temps are headed to NH!
What a cute little eatery!
Glad you’re getting a “heat wave” in the middle of January. When living in cold weather climates, it’s those random out of the blue bursts of warmer weather than somehow can help you see the light at the end of the long, winter, tunnel. Good deal for you!
Oh my my! You are So lucky. Today in Canada (Ottawa), it was minus 15 celcius and icy rain and snow. I envy the nice weather in your neck of the woods
Enjoy!
Yeah, here too (near Montreal (Quebec))! Not the best weather.
That is my perfect lunch! The bread looks incredible!
I love brie and apple together! And on a baguette just takes it to a whole new level!
I love the grocery store + cafe combo. Quaint but gourmet!
Love the sandwich combo!
60 degrees sounds cold to me! It was 57 here in St. Petersburg this morning and they are saying it may not get warmer than the low 60′s. That is 10 degrees below normal here. Everyone is wearing big jackets and scarves, we are so not used to cold weather!
Heading to cville this weekend! I will definitely have to give this place a try!
Mmm. Apple, brie, arugula, and honey! I love a good apple-brie-arugula sandwich (though it’s been a while since I’ve had one!) but I never thought of adding honey! I need to put that back on the sandwich rotation.
The next day, The Farm C’ville had fabulous chicken salad sammy on Dakota bread at Great Harvest. <3 Sorry to miss you, Kath. Hope you are having a great weekend!
