Sorry for the delay – we were out RUNNING! 5 miles before breakfast – wahoo!

Banana fuel bites before we left:

We covered a big loop downtown and back – it was a pretty good run! I’d just suggest for future reference NOT to eat squash skin the night before running My stomach was so bloated!

Look at these two lovemugs –

  • 1 whole banana (leftovers from pre-workout!)
  • Chia seeds
  • Pinch Salt

Midnight In The [Victory] Garden Of Good + Evil

So glad you guys have bought Victory Garden posters for your homes!! The deal is on till MIDNIGHT tonight. I’d love to make a collage of the posters in your spaces – once you get them, send me photos please!!!

Happy 28th KERFday

I’m turning 28 on October 26! And I’m inviting you all to Charlottesville the weekend of October 23 to run the Charlottesville Fall Classic 10K race with me (or cheer from the sidelines!) and celebrate my birthday. Meghann is coming! Emily is coming! Ashley and Bo are coming! Allie and Diana (I think!) and maybe Sarah! I may have heard flutter from Brittany down in Richmond. And I know there were more who mentioned a maybe. So you ALL should come and have a HLS reunion!! Ashley + Bo chose a hotel, and Matt is working on his pumpkin ale recipe.

EMAIL ME if you’re interested!

Wow how fun is your birthday going to be?! Ain’t no better way to ring in year 28… mine is 2 weeks later!

3 Freya (Brit Chick Runs) September 14, 2010 at 8:55 am

Ohh I’m sad I’ll miss your birthday! That sounds so fun 😀 Especially since it sounds like there’ll be a pumpkin ale taste test maybe!? Gah!

4 Kath September 14, 2010 at 8:57 am

Are you SURE you dont’ want to fly over from England!!?! :)

5 Sarah @ Sarah's Shaping Up September 14, 2010 at 8:55 am

Looks like a productive morning! :)

What a great plan for your birthday :) And those oats look awesome :)

8 Christine September 14, 2010 at 9:00 am

Oh that sounds fun! Would a newcomer be welcomed?

9 Kath September 14, 2010 at 9:01 am

Of course – that’s why I’m inviting you! You just have to be a KERF reader to come :)

10 Holly @ couchpotatoathlete September 14, 2010 at 9:01 am

Aww, lovemugs :)

I would love to run a race with you on your birthday, but alas I will not make the trek from MN :(

I love your oatmeal mug, where is that from?

11 Kath September 14, 2010 at 9:04 am

A street vendor in Asheville

12 Andrea September 14, 2010 at 9:03 am

I don’t run but I may be able to talk my husband into a mini-vacation to Charlottesville since we’ve never been. Is the run part of the “celebration” and therefore required? We’d be excellent cheerers! I’m sure my husband, who is a hobbyist brewer himself, would love to try Matt’s pumpkin ale. :)

13 Kath September 14, 2010 at 9:04 am

Running is definitely not required – you can just cheer! Or sleep in :)

14 Andrea September 14, 2010 at 9:13 am

Or exploring some local breakfast suggestion? Gotta check flights!

15 Erin September 14, 2010 at 9:03 am

So in love with your oatmeal mug! I actually almost bought one very similar at an arts festival this weekend (he was calling them chowder mugs but we all know they’re perfect for oats) and didn’t have cash, sadly. :(

16 Natalia @asideofsimple September 14, 2010 at 9:03 am

I’ll be stuck at school =( I can’t wait to hear all about it though!

I love that oats mug. It’s one of my favorites of yours. I like to think that anything tastes better in that mug!

17 Krystina September 14, 2010 at 9:07 am

That pear fig jam sounds so lovely. I would LOVE to go to CVille, but college gets in the way!

18 shannon (the daily balance) September 14, 2010 at 9:08 am

mugs make everything taste better 😉

19 Alaina @ The Jogging Concierge September 14, 2010 at 9:09 am

Your birthday is the same day as my wedding anniversary!! :-) If I didn’t live so far away, that would be a great trip.

20 Camille September 14, 2010 at 9:11 am

What fun! I wish I had the money to travel for races! Someday…

21 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg September 14, 2010 at 9:15 am

25 Natalia @asideofsimple September 14, 2010 at 9:21 am

I forgot to ask, what did you think of GG last night?!

26 Kath September 14, 2010 at 9:24 am

I told ya last night I won’t get to watch it for a few days due to not having a TV!

27 Natalia @asideofsimple September 14, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Oh right, wasn’t sure if you would find it online though. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

28 brandi September 14, 2010 at 9:29 am

Fun! Since I missed the HLS, I may need to see if I could drive up that weekend. It’s about 3.5 hours from me in Blacksburg…that would be fun!

29 Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter September 14, 2010 at 9:32 am

What a cool idea for a birthday!

And your oats look absolutely delectable. I’ve been flip flopping on what to eat this morning for breakfast. I’m thinking oats :)

30 Brittany September 14, 2010 at 9:33 am

I’m definitely interested. I’ll email you!!

31 Wei-Wei September 14, 2010 at 9:36 am

Awww, I don’t like being in China when you guys talk about blogger meet-ups :( But at least I can read about them, right? 😉

32 Heather (Heather's Dish) September 14, 2010 at 9:40 am

i would LOVE to come but flights from colorado are a bit pricey…happy SUPER early birthday anyway :)

33 Alyssa September 14, 2010 at 2:09 pm

Those were my thoughts exactly :-)

34 Allison K September 14, 2010 at 9:42 am

OH I wish I didn’t live across the country! Also, you mentioning your 28th birthday, made me realize that it’s almost MY 28th birthday, and I can’t believe I’m going to be 28!!!!!!!!

35 Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] September 14, 2010 at 9:44 am

It seems like just yesterday that you turned 2.7!

36 [email protected] September 14, 2010 at 9:45 am

After seeing your post yesterday about scottish oats I went directly to the store and bought some for this morning’s breakfast. I always prepare my breakfast the night before so that I can just take it to work with me. When I tried to microwave the scottish oats they didn’t turn out to well. I guess they’re gonna become a weekend meal when I have time to cook them on the stove. Now I just need the weekend :)

37 Mary @ Bites and Bliss September 14, 2010 at 9:47 am

That’s so awesome! You’ll have so many people running with you :) Talk about a fun run!

38 Meghann September 14, 2010 at 9:51 am

I’ll be there!!! :)

39 notyet100 September 14, 2010 at 10:10 am

40 Katie September 14, 2010 at 10:12 am

41 Tina September 14, 2010 at 10:13 am

Your birthday sounds like a blast!!! I would love to come and get a chance to meet all you awesome ladies. Not gonna happen though since that same day is my baby girl’s 2nd bday party. 😀

42 Bright Bakes September 14, 2010 at 10:17 am

Your “love mug” pic is perfectly adorable! :)
On other topics…I’ve been coveting the Victory poster for quite a while now! Just placed my order…so excited to get them for a discount. :)

43 Laura @ Blogging Over Thyme September 14, 2010 at 10:19 am

I love the Mary Poppins reference :)

44 Marisa @ Loser for Life September 14, 2010 at 10:27 am

Those oats do look FAB!

I’ll be cheering you from the sidelines for your birthday run!

45 [email protected] September 14, 2010 at 10:30 am

That ceramic mug for your oatmeal is SO gorgeous!

46 Barefootgirl 27 September 14, 2010 at 10:55 am

Ahh. Fellow Scorpio. I turn. *gasp* 40 the 27th!!! I would love to be able to run a 10 k. Heck. I’d settle for being able to run a 5 k.

What a great way for you to celebrate !!!!!

47 Kristine September 14, 2010 at 10:56 am

Hmm!! What’s the closest airport to you?!

48 Kath September 14, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Charlottesville has an airport, but it’s kind of small and hard to fly out of.

Richmond is about 50 miles away.

DC’s Reagan Airport is 2 hours, but there’s a direct Amtrak to Charlottesville.

49 coco September 14, 2010 at 11:00 am

I’d love to go!!! I need to figure out how far is from DC… maybe I can go with Emily 😉

50 Stacey (The Habit of Healthy) September 14, 2010 at 11:25 am

Sounds like a fun way to celebrate your birthday and I’m sure it’d going to turn into a great big blogger meet up! I can’t wait to read about it.

51 Caitlin (EatFeats) September 14, 2010 at 11:31 am

What a fun birthday celebration. And that pear fig jam sounds awesome!

52 Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks September 14, 2010 at 11:37 am

Fact: I turned 28 in May, and every single time someone asks how old I am, I say 27.

No, it isn’t a joke, like, “hahaha..I’ll never be 28!”

It’s that I keep forgetting how old I am.

Watch out for 28. I think it’s where adulthood senility starts to kick in….

Just kidding. 😉

53 Molly September 14, 2010 at 12:35 pm

I’ll second that! I turned 28 in June and still have to pause and think about how old I am when I am asked!

54 Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks September 14, 2010 at 12:38 pm

Haha! I’m so glad I am not alone! *bonds*

55 Kelsey @ CleanTeenKelsey September 14, 2010 at 11:50 am

Wow, 5 miles before breakfast?! You are beast! That is awesome, lol. Hooray for fluffy oats. :) Oh and Happy early Birthday! So exciting. :)

56 Jessica @ The Process of Healing September 14, 2010 at 12:03 pm

You deinately just reminded me that I have Scottish Oats in the fridge.. yay!

57 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat September 14, 2010 at 12:06 pm

I wish I could be there but it would be quite the trek!! I can’t wait to hear about the race after it happens. What a great way to spend your birthday!

58 kate September 14, 2010 at 12:13 pm

I wonder how far of a car ride CVille would be from Iowa… :)

59 Kath (Eating for Living) September 14, 2010 at 12:25 pm

What a lovely mug! I also have a lot of different mugs (and bowls …) in my kitchen so I can choose one according to mood. :)

60 Shannon September 14, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Happy Birthdays to US (mine’s 10/31)!

And where do you get all of your cute bowls and spoons! I love them!

61 Jolie September 14, 2010 at 1:47 pm

The oats look delish, I’m going to have to try this!

62 Alyssa September 14, 2010 at 2:08 pm

If I lived on the east coast, I would be there! Sounds like a great birthday bash :-)

My birthday is December 25th and I’m turning 25! My golden birthday…all of your readers and you are invited to Colorado for some downhill skiing :-) Any takers?!?!

Christmas babies are screwed on birthdays!

63 Emily @ The Front Burner Blog September 14, 2010 at 3:06 pm

I will be there! And I am coming from DC, so I could pick up anyone who needs to fly into DC and drive them down with me. Just let me know. :)

64 Liz @ Tip Top Shape September 14, 2010 at 3:25 pm

Aahh, those mugs are wonderful. I have one that I got in Vegas that looks like it is from a 1950s diner. Favorite mug ever 😀

65 Jess @ NZ Girl Runs September 14, 2010 at 4:44 pm

I love that you drink your coffee out of a Speights mug!

66 Haley September 14, 2010 at 4:55 pm

I LOVE that you have a Speights mug!! I studied down in Dunedin, Aotearoa (where the Speights brewery is) and went on multiple tours over the 9 months I was there to get the samples at the end! haha. I’m not a huge beer fan but the brewery was so much fun to do with my fellow classmates.

Oh and also, I would love to run with you on your bday if it wouldn’t cost me a cross-country plane ticket as well =(. Woohoo for your upcoming birthday!!

67 klm September 14, 2010 at 5:31 pm

I was SO not invited!!!! ouch.

68 alison September 14, 2010 at 6:03 pm

What a fun way to celebrate your birthday. 28 is a great age; I’m turning 34 in November and that’s a number I’m not so sure about.

69 Jenny September 14, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Oh my gosh that sounds like fun! Do you think my legs will be ready after running my first half marathon the weekend before?

70 stacey-healthylife September 14, 2010 at 8:05 pm

I wish I lived closer the race sounds like fun.

71 Joanna @ September 14, 2010 at 8:16 pm

Ahhhh I haven’t been running or had a banana in days! I was missing my running/banana routine earlier today and then you post about both. Jealous! Haha. I finally bought some bananas and tomorrow I’m going to hit it!

72 Hannah September 14, 2010 at 9:54 pm

“Your oatmeal brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like…”

That’s been in my head this whole post. Don’t ask me why.

73 Stephanie September 14, 2010 at 10:57 pm

Love your ceramic bowl!!! You’re making me want to go to an old vintage store or Flea Market to buy some!

74 bobbi September 14, 2010 at 11:56 pm

I would love to…but I have to go to CHICAGO first…boo, wish I could celebrate with you all!

75 faith @ gracefulfitness September 16, 2010 at 7:52 am

I am all about the Fall Classic and what an awesome way to celebrate your birthday! See you there!
