We’ve got a husband and wife pair of ducks living with us these days. They take a stroll every morning through our yard. They are quacking through the front yard right now!
I was awake at 5:26 this morning but not up and going for a while thereafter. I did 45 minutes of Solar Flow from 6:45-7:30. It was kind of weird doing yoga again. I felt a little different but I’m not sure how. Almost thicker?! Maybe that means I got stronger?!
SUCH a good bowl:
- Heaping 1/3 cup mix of oats + 9 grain, water, milk, 1/2 medium banana, pinch salt
- 2 small figs
- 1/3 cup pumpkin
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla
- 1/2 Luna Vanilla Macadamia Tea Cake
- Few almonds
- Spoonful TJ’s PB
Daily Dose: (note I’m trying to have 1/2-3/4 servings and hopefully will cut back to half and maybe switch to decaf if I can find a good flavor.)
Sing To The Soul
My cousin, Chris, is a talented musician working on a new album. I’ve been listening to his newest songs on repeat! His songs are beautiful in both melody + lyric, which are inspired by Hamlet. Check him out:

Love the quote! And that is awesome to wake up and see ducks in your yard!
I love duckies!!!
have a great day!
I love the ducks! and that shed in your backyard is so awesome. very rustic.
My mom is quite the coffee addict and she says that 8 o’clock coffee makes good decaf. Though she doesn’t like flavored coffee so I’m not sure how much of a help that is!
Adorable ducks! Have a great day.
Adorable ducks – that is so cute!!!
love the ducks
I need to find all these New Luna products – we don’t have the tea cakes or the cookies yet!
Any idaes how long canned pumpkin is good for once you open it (assuming it is stored in the fridge in a container)?
I’m assuming you use canned pumpkin.
Love the blog!
I would say you got stronger from that crazy full day of yoga. mmmm, pumpkiny-peanutty oats! can’t go wrong there. very cute ducks-Lisa D.
I love how ducks are always in pairs – when I was little I named a pair (have no idea what) and every pair that I saw I IMMEDIATELY thought was the two that I named. I would be up north and see two ducks and say, “Oh look there’s blah blah and blah blah” Haha
Have a great Tuesday!
Love the oats and the quote!
I love that bowl!
yummy oats! where did you get that lovely cherry blossom bowl?!!
we had a turkey family living in our yard at one point.. they were so cute! i think they moved to the next town over.. where the real estate was a bit better i guess.. lol
We had ducks that swim in our pool when the cover gets water in it so cute!
Love you oats!
Oats look great!
I’m going to check out your cousins music now!
Have a good one!

I don’t have ducks, just deer and giant racoons! I’d rather have ducks!
I love half-cups of coffee. Wakes me up but I don’t get jittery and spazzed out (I only have coffee a few times per week so I have to be careful!).
Have a great day!
The ducks are so cute!
Those ducks wouldn’t last long at my house. The girls insist on chasing them and yelling “QUACK QUACK!” Okay, maybe that’s me.
aw maybe there will be baby ducklings one day! that’d be so cute!
Yesterday, I was having my usual greek yogurt w/ blueberries and I got the brilliant idea to crumble up an Oatmeal Cranberry Flax Cookie I had made this weekend in it! It was delicious and made me think of you! I am definetely getting more experimental with add ins! Tomorrow for breakfast, I am planning oatmeal w/ dates and walnuts.
Aw, ducks in your backyard? Thats so cute!
I love seeing wildlife outside! I always see male and female chipmunks and squirrels outside my window.
The ducks in the yard are adorable!
I’m right with you on the caffeine. I was drinking 5-6 cups a day when I found out I was pregnant. The doctor ordered me to cut back to no more than 2 cups per day. After about a week, I was down to 1. After another week it stopped tasting good and I’ve switched exclusively to tea. No herbal though. Bummer.
Mmm, that bowl of oats looks delicious in that gorgeous bowl. Those ducks are too cute!
Aww, cute ducks. So funny.
Another winning oat bowl Kath, and best of luck with the caffeine reduction. I’ve been there – it’s not easy. I’m back to a huge mug of coffee every morning…and it says KERF.
you have ducks living with you! that is so cute. how come every time i read your blog, i feel an overwhelming urge to move out of the city YESTERDAY!?
Okay so this is totally not related to anything in your post, but I just want to say that I just ate the best bread from Great harvest ever, holy goodness! Woodstock whole wheat is by far the best! I cannot tell you how amazing it is I had it with a slice of ham and Munster cheese and mustard and I was simply in heaven…this was my first great harvest experience and I tell ya it did not disappointment! The ducks are cute!
I really love his music! He is very talented!
Beautiful bowl (and oatmeal contents)! I like the Luna teacakes so much more than their bars – perfect chewy texture.
One of these days I’ll get up early enough in the morning to make some of my own oats, they always look so delicious!
Cute ducks!
Love the ducks
All I ever get walking through my yard are stray dogs!
I love that you have ducks! I have squirrels and blue jays that live in my yard.
DUCKS! I used to have ducks stroll through my yard all the time. Now I live on a busier road so it’s not ideal =/
I love your bowl! It’s so pretty – where did you get it?
Yummy oats!
Great quote!
We don’t see too many ducks here in Arizona! I did have one swimming in my pool one day! Love the breakfast as usual! Keep the yummy ideas coming!!
zestycook ,
We do! But they are scared of us
Thanks for your comment Jennifer

Various kinds. This was Fresh Market.
Check YogaDownload’s level for the Solar level. It’s not beginner though. Jackie is my favorite, followed by Dawnelle.
luvcats ,
I let pumpkin sit at least a week and it’s OK.

Kath
Saw something called “teeccino” on The Cupcake Project blog and thought of you – perhaps this could help with your coffee headaches?

Those ducks are so cute.
I absolutely adore your antique silver spoons. They are so beautiful. I am on a mission to find myself some. I think they would be a fun thing to collect.
Oh my Kath! It has walnuts, sunflower seeds, flax seed and the over all flavor, texture and hartyness is great! ill see if I still have the little calendar they gave me when I was there and tell ya what day they offer it here! You have to try it!
Fig & banana oats are my all-time fave but never thought of adding pumpkin into the mix! GENIUS!
Ooh, I have a suggestion for an excellent decaf:
intelligentsiacoffee.com
They really, really make quality decafs. The downside is that you have to order beans online; the upsides are that shipping is really fast AND it’s a great coffee company (the best in the U.S., probably!) — their decafs are so good that taste better than many coffee companies’ caffeinated varieties!!!
I came across your blog from Polly’s blog to your hubby..then to yours
Delicious looking meal. I have given up on all caffeine..which it what it sounds like you’re trying to do. It’s hard..but in the end decaf–if you can find a good one..doesn’t taste any different. Good luck.
I am excited to see more of your recipes..they’re fab.
