I headed home from the bakery this afternoon absolutely exhausted. My mom reminded me: “you need to rest.”

So rest I did – 2 hours horizontal on the couch! Plus a short nap before we got ready for dinner.

Professional Photographer required!

If only Pumpkin could work a camera…

Pumpkin has decided to move in this week. I think she misses her family [who are traveling] too much!

Matt and I walked (~1.26 miles) to dinner tonight at l’etoile! It’s been on our list of restaurants to try for nearly two years now.

We dined on the porch and had a really great experience – I felt like we could be back in Sonoma on our honeymoon!

I drank a whole bottle of wine sparkling water to celebrate. Sparkling water from Greece > sparkling water from our basement. Matt sipped the good juice.

Amuse bouche! Heirloom tomato, feta, basil, balsamic

To start, I enjoyed this awesome kale salad. I loved that the kale was shaved – so much easier to eat! I said it was like slaw minus the gross cabbage : )

Matt’s salad was equally as good – check out that goat cheese medallion!

Palate cleansing bread with salty olive oil –

For my entrée, I ordered the scallops

They were totally delicious – and I loved the bed of mixed salady things they were served atop.

Matt had the duck entrée. I’m not a huge duck fan, but the pureed beets mixed with the blue cheese and walnut salad was DIVINE!

Of course I was dreaming of wedding cake for dessert, and we were excited to find a coconut cake on the menu!

Sadly this was the only part of our dinner that was a bit disappointing. The frosting was cream cheese and tasted nearly ALL cream cheese and the cake part was cold and a bit dense/dry, but of course it still tasted good!

We enjoyed our stroll home and ran into Seamane and Rob who were out celebrating their 12th anniversary this weekend!

Delicious dishes for a special night!

I like your comfy-looking dress, Kath!

Great idea to shave kale!

5 Jeri June 2, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Again I say you make me, and I think everyone, want to try new foods. Everything looks good and I am sure that is an understatement I am sure.

Thank you for sharing your life with us and letting us live our food dreams through your pictures. YUM!

S/N: I have got moving again. 8+ miles in 2 days. about 1 hour of nice paced walking. Feels so good and refreshing. Thanks for motivating us all to want to live healthier lives without the need of dieting, but with the use of our imagination of what we can make with fresh food.

I totally agree with what you said! Since I’ve been visiting Kath’s site, I eat more vegatables and different grains that I hadn’t tried before. It is inspiring and refreshing to have somebody talk about how to eat and live more healthfully and how easy it can be to prepare a healthy meal and not refer to it as a “diet”! I love your journey…

I live just around the corner from l’etoile but haven’t gotten a chance to eat there yet. Your pictures may help force a dinner there soon!

It was very good!

21 Averie @ Averie Cooks June 2, 2012 at 10:59 pm

Disappointing desserts…Gah! Hate that, and on your anniversary no less. Just means you can go out to a desserts-only bar and have something fabulous in the next week or so :)

22 Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See June 3, 2012 at 12:09 am

I love pretty porches! Of course, they’re even better with pretty food haha. Happy anniversary !

Happy Anniversary! Beautiful pictures!!!

27 Karen June 3, 2012 at 6:14 am

Great food photography lighting! The blooper wedding-dance dip redux shot is hysterical and oh so fun…if you placed the two side by side on a wall, it would tell an instant narrative! You are still rocking that dress and looking more gorgeous than ever! Congrats again to you two lovebirds!

28 Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count June 3, 2012 at 6:14 am

Looks like a lovely evening…what a difference 5 years can make! Happy Anniversary!

29 Lauren June 3, 2012 at 6:48 am

Love your dress! Is it maternity, and do you remember where it’s from? I’m only 11 weeks pregnant, but maternity clothes are already becoming necessary thanks to the fact that I’m having twins.

30 KathEats June 3, 2012 at 8:09 am

It’s 5 Bamboo…. Love it… So comfy! (not maternity… Just convenient)

31 Hillary June 3, 2012 at 6:55 am

Happy anniversary to you both—and many more!

32 Kayla June 3, 2012 at 6:57 am

36 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat June 3, 2012 at 7:39 am

Awww congrats you two!! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again – your wedding photos are so so gorgeous. I also love the photo where you’re tipped back in the red dress Kath – very cute! Looks like you guys had a wonderful night. I’m drooling over those seared scallops!

37 Alisha @ Pink Spatulas June 3, 2012 at 7:54 am

Happy Anniversary and Bread-i-versary! As a new follower to your blog, it’s always a treat to see your beautiful photography. I hope you have a great day of relaxation after all the festivities.

38 Ann June 3, 2012 at 8:34 am

As a kitty foster mom for a local rescue, it warms my heart that you are such a sweetheart to that little kitty cat while her family is travelling.

39 Maura @ My Healthy 'Ohana June 3, 2012 at 8:56 am

Happy Anniversary! Love the dip shot with the bump! :)

40 Micky June 3, 2012 at 9:08 am

Did Pumpkin’s family go out of town and leave the cat outside while they are gone???? I sure hope not! I hope someone is taking care of him!

41 KathEats June 3, 2012 at 9:13 am

Her sister is taking care of her “catsitting” but she is generally an outdoor cat

42 Micky June 3, 2012 at 12:19 pm

That’s good to hear! And I realized I didn’t say Happy Anniversary so…..Happy Anniversary! :)

43 Roxanne June 3, 2012 at 9:46 am

Happy Anniversary Matt and Kath! Enjoy your 5th year as a twosome!

44 Larbs June 3, 2012 at 10:38 am

Happy Anniversary!

45 Rachel June 3, 2012 at 11:42 am

Congratulations and happy anniversary! You two are so cute!

On another note, I really liked the idea of the Kale-slaw. I’m not a big fan of the big pieces of Kale, but if it was shredded I may like it. I’m going to have to try a similar dish to the one you just tried. It sounded amazing!

46 donna June 3, 2012 at 3:51 pm

This is the BEST kale salad recipe ever—and so easy to make! It is even better the 2nd day.

47 Monica June 3, 2012 at 7:26 pm

Love that belly dip shot, so romantic!

Happy anniversary!

48 Eileen June 3, 2012 at 8:06 pm

happy anniversary to another 06.02.07 couple!! looks like you had a great celebration :)

49 Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning June 4, 2012 at 9:29 am

Happy Anniversary!! I love your dress- you look adorable!

50 Katelyn June 4, 2012 at 10:33 am

Happy Anniversary to you two! Your wedding photos are beautiful – LOVE your bouquet! Such bright combination of colors. :) Even though you can’t see your faces, the photo of Matt dipping you with your baby bump as the focal point is really neat!

This might be a dumb question, but how would you shave the kale to make a salad like you had?

51 KathEats June 4, 2012 at 11:04 am

I’m not really sure how to shave it – but I’d think maybe a food processor? Or you could just cut it chiffonade style

52 Katie @ A Full Plate June 4, 2012 at 12:38 pm

Happy Anniversary! Dinner looked wonderful!
