5 years older, wiser and more in love!
And our last anniversary as a family of two!
Anniversaries Past
I headed home from the bakery this afternoon absolutely exhausted. My mom reminded me: “you need to rest.”
So rest I did – 2 hours horizontal on the couch! Plus a short nap before we got ready for dinner.
Professional Photographer required!
If only Pumpkin could work a camera…
Pumpkin has decided to move in this week. I think she misses her family [who are traveling] too much!
Matt and I walked (~1.26 miles) to dinner tonight at l’etoile! It’s been on our list of restaurants to try for nearly two years now.
We dined on the porch and had a really great experience – I felt like we could be back in Sonoma on our honeymoon!
I drank a whole bottle of wine sparkling water to celebrate. Sparkling water from Greece > sparkling water from our basement. Matt sipped the good juice.
Amuse bouche! Heirloom tomato, feta, basil, balsamic
To start, I enjoyed this awesome kale salad. I loved that the kale was shaved – so much easier to eat! I said it was like slaw minus the gross cabbage : )
Matt’s salad was equally as good – check out that goat cheese medallion!
Palate cleansing bread with salty olive oil -
For my entrée, I ordered the scallops
They were totally delicious – and I loved the bed of mixed salady things they were served atop.
Matt had the duck entrée. I’m not a huge duck fan, but the pureed beets mixed with the blue cheese and walnut salad was DIVINE!
Of course I was dreaming of wedding cake for dessert, and we were excited to find a coconut cake on the menu!
Sadly this was the only part of our dinner that was a bit disappointing. The frosting was cream cheese and tasted nearly ALL cream cheese and the cake part was cold and a bit dense/dry, but of course it still tasted good!
We enjoyed our stroll home and ran into Seamane and Rob who were out celebrating their 12th anniversary this weekend!

What amazing conditions for food photography! The scallops look like they were shot in a professional studio. Happy Anniversary x2!!
Delicious dishes for a special night!
I like your comfy-looking dress, Kath!
Great idea to shave kale!

Again I say you make me, and I think everyone, want to try new foods. Everything looks good and I am sure that is an understatement I am sure.
Thank you for sharing your life with us and letting us live our food dreams through your pictures. YUM!
S/N: I have got moving again. 8+ miles in 2 days. about 1 hour of nice paced walking. Feels so good and refreshing. Thanks for motivating us all to want to live healthier lives without the need of dieting, but with the use of our imagination of what we can make with fresh food.
I totally agree with what you said! Since I’ve been visiting Kath’s site, I eat more vegatables and different grains that I hadn’t tried before. It is inspiring and refreshing to have somebody talk about how to eat and live more healthfully and how easy it can be to prepare a healthy meal and not refer to it as a “diet”! I love your journey…
Love the way your baby bump is showing in that side shot.. Beautiful picture! Happy anniversary!!
Happy anniversary, Kath and Matt!
oh my goodness! I LOVE the way the pic turned out with just your bodies (and cute belly!) showing! I think it is great! All that food looks Ah-mazing too! What a big day you 2 had and yes you HAVE to rest!
Happy anniversary Matt and Kath! I love the comparison “dip” shots
You’re so beautiful! xx
ADORABLE photo of Matt dipping you. The baby is definitely growing and you look wonderful. So exciting!
Beautiful side shot in the red dress!
Happy Anniversary! And the dip shot with the bump might be the cutest thing ever!
Happy, happy anniversary!! Glad you had such a wonderful evening – that dress is gorgeous on you!
You guys are too flippin’ adorable <3
You know what? I think that heads-cut-out photo turned out perfectly–the baby bump is front & center! Love it. Happy anniversary, Kath!
I live just around the corner from l’etoile but haven’t gotten a chance to eat there yet. Your pictures may help force a dinner there soon!
It was very good!
LOVE the wedding photos!! So glad you guys had a great evening
Disappointing desserts…Gah! Hate that, and on your anniversary no less. Just means you can go out to a desserts-only bar and have something fabulous in the next week or so
I love pretty porches! Of course, they’re even better with pretty food haha. Happy anniversary !
Congrats, Matt and Kath! Many happy returns.
Happy Anniversary! There will be many, many more to come!
Happy 5 years to you too!! Delicious looking meal. And I love the tipping over picture with your baby bump showing!
Happy Anniversary! Beautiful pictures!!!
Great food photography lighting! The blooper wedding-dance dip redux shot is hysterical and oh so fun…if you placed the two side by side on a wall, it would tell an instant narrative! You are still rocking that dress and looking more gorgeous than ever! Congrats again to you two lovebirds!
Looks like a lovely evening…what a difference 5 years can make! Happy Anniversary!
Love your dress! Is it maternity, and do you remember where it’s from? I’m only 11 weeks pregnant, but maternity clothes are already becoming necessary thanks to the fact that I’m having twins.
It’s 5 Bamboo…. Love it… So comfy! (not maternity… Just convenient)
Happy anniversary to you both—and many more!
happy double anniversaries!!!
you guys are a great couple and fabulous business-duo!
Happy Anniversary! You guys are such a cute couple! I love the picture of Matt dipping you but you can only see the baby bump! Congratulations.
Happy Anniversary! Sounds like a wonderful dinner!
Love the ‘dip’! Your dinners look amazing! So simple yet decadent! Congrats!
Awww congrats you two!! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again – your wedding photos are so so gorgeous. I also love the photo where you’re tipped back in the red dress Kath – very cute! Looks like you guys had a wonderful night. I’m drooling over those seared scallops!
Happy Anniversary and Bread-i-versary! As a new follower to your blog, it’s always a treat to see your beautiful photography. I hope you have a great day of relaxation after all the festivities.
As a kitty foster mom for a local rescue, it warms my heart that you are such a sweetheart to that little kitty cat while her family is travelling.
Happy Anniversary! Love the dip shot with the bump!
Did Pumpkin’s family go out of town and leave the cat outside while they are gone???? I sure hope not! I hope someone is taking care of him!
Her sister is taking care of her “catsitting” but she is generally an outdoor cat
That’s good to hear! And I realized I didn’t say Happy Anniversary so…..Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary Matt and Kath! Enjoy your 5th year as a twosome!
Happy Anniversary!
Congratulations and happy anniversary! You two are so cute!
On another note, I really liked the idea of the Kale-slaw. I’m not a big fan of the big pieces of Kale, but if it was shredded I may like it. I’m going to have to try a similar dish to the one you just tried. It sounded amazing!
This is the BEST kale salad recipe ever—and so easy to make! It is even better the 2nd day.

Love that belly dip shot, so romantic!
Happy anniversary!
happy anniversary to another 06.02.07 couple!! looks like you had a great celebration
Happy Anniversary!! I love your dress- you look adorable!
Happy Anniversary to you two! Your wedding photos are beautiful – LOVE your bouquet! Such bright combination of colors.
Even though you can’t see your faces, the photo of Matt dipping you with your baby bump as the focal point is really neat!
This might be a dumb question, but how would you shave the kale to make a salad like you had?
I’m not really sure how to shave it – but I’d think maybe a food processor? Or you could just cut it chiffonade style
Happy Anniversary! Dinner looked wonderful!
