Where did we leave off!?
And icy walk to the bakery and back yesterday –
Followed by dinner at our place and a concert.
Karen brought over her famous veggie lasagna [this version was made with broccoli and carrots]
And we had Caesar salads
Mark West – a family favorite
And Shawn, Karen’s friend and my Body Pump classmate!
After dinner we walked to The Southern for a performance by Scott Miller, a new friend of Karen’s. We saw him over Thanksgiving too. This show was SMASHINGLY good – he had a fiddle accompaniment who brought his music to life. His songs are hilarious too!
My favorite song of the night:
And the Sa-Ho song about Sam Houston is pretty good too!
We got home at midnight and crashed!!
Unexpected snowfall!!
This child was excited!!
Then it melted.
Now it’s snowing fat flakes again!
Matt and I discussed breakfast last night and couldn’t wait to dig into some blueberry oats with Blueberry Coconut muffin!
Blueberry Coconut is a new Great Harvest creation – one of my favs!
1/3 cup oats made with half milk, half water, half banana, chia seeds plus muffin and Yum Butter Cranberry Coconut peanut butter.
We also guzzled this while we watched LOST, which is getting irresistible!
We might try to squeeze in one more before the day begins – despite the clock ticking close to noon!

Your oats always look so good! And what a fun evening!
I knew it wouldn’t take long for LOST to hook you!
Karen looks so fab, her cardigan and earrings are both really cute, too.
Blueberry and coconut?! Two of my favorite flavors, yum!
Fun night n delicious morning!!! So glad you are loving LOST. I was a huge fan from the beginning and have become buddies w the guy who plays Jin on it. (here’s an old interview we did for my blog: http://theactorsdiet.wordpress.com/2010/04/27/interview-with-daniel-dae-kim/)
You are so cool! (i’m not saying that sarcastically either!)
aw thanks, kath! i have to say the first time i met him i was so unbelievably NOT cool…. i literally knocked people over at the party we were at to be introduced to him and stuttered like a crazy person. luckily he is one of the nicest guys on the planet.
Mmmmm your topping always make your outs look delish! Topping are one of the best things about oats
. Ad lucky you getting snow, it’s so pretty!!
Karen looks wonderful
Karen looks amazing! Love her hair, very pretty.
I love oats with muffin on top!! That bowl makes me hungry
Karen looks amazing and every time I see the coffee press, it makes me smile
Watching the snow fall is so calming, it makes the whole world seem a little more quiet & is a perfect way to spend a Sunday
Especially when you have some delicious oats & coffee to keep you warm!
I was trying to figure out why the name Mark West sounded so familiar – then I realized that there’s a Mark West Springs road and a town of Mark West about 25 minutes from where I live. The perks of living in CA wine country!!
Your oats look fantastic. I need to start getting creative again with my breakfasts! I’ve fallen into the classic banana oats + nut butter rut… not bad, but now it’s nothing special!
Looks like a fun night! That Mark West Pinot is my “go to” when I’m unsure what to get.
Well, I loved the music man. How fun was that! I like late nights and fun music once in a while. It did look like a good time with good food and friends/family.
Blueberry coconut muffin sounds great!
Fiddle player was Rayna Gellert right? She’s from Asheville!
YES! Did you recognize her? She was amazing!
I have to make that lasagna! It just looks too good to miss.
Oh, and I just bought my first bag of chia seeds! How have I let it go so long?!?
We loved watching Lost. Mark and I have a habit of starting a series and then plowing through all of them within a period of weeks. Six Feet Under and MadMen are our favorites. If you haven’t caught either of them, DO IT!! They’re incredible, and addicting.
One of my favourite episodes is Walkabout, which you’ve probably watched by now. The line “Don’t Tell Me What I Can’t Do” is one of my mottos now.
Walkabout was great
Lost is so addictive! I foresee a Lost marathon in your future
Blueberry coconut muffins sound like heaven!!
Wow these flavored peanut butters are out of controlll!
Karen looks beautiful! Love her hair and that huge smile! Dinner looks so good. I love veggie lasagna! Your oats look like the perfect start to a cold wintery day! Enjoy your day Kath!
I remember a few years ago, we started watching the Lost episodes on DVD. It was so addicting! We kept saying, ‘okay, just one more episode tonight’.
Your dinner looks amazing! ……Lost is great! I loved that show- but watch out, it can loose you- it gets quite confusing somewhere in there. Enjoy! It’s fun trying to figure out what YOU think is going on!
My boyfriend and I started LOST (he had seen it all, I had seen the first season or so on TV back when it aired) in December and are going to be done in like, 2 weeks. It’s crack. I have a hard time not watching it secretly while he is away during the weeks for school!
Also, SAWYER IS DAMN FINE.
Enjoyed listening to the Scott Miller tunes as I rolled out my dough for sub buns, french stick and rosemary bread sticks. What a great evening you must of had! Love veggie lasagna and blueberry coconut muffins sound divine! Walking in freshly fallen snow is the best…I enjoyed a crisp walk myself this morning…time for lunch…enjoy your day!
Blueberry & coconut with French Press Coffee and a gorgeous view…heaven. You are off to a delicious and cozy start.
It sounds like it’s a good day to have a Lost marathon. Enjoy!
Just love your porch. That last picture looks like it’s literally outside with the snow covered bushes in the background.
Carrots in lasagna make it sooo much better!
I’m not familiar with that artist, but will have to check out your YouTube links!
My man-child gets excited about snow, too.
Love the lime french press and also the off-center vertical shot of the blueberry oats with Blueberry Coconut muffin. So pretty!
Glad you kids had fun at the concert; live music is such a treat!
And so is that pinot. Looks delish
Karen looks fabulous! Tell her hello!
Her lasagna looks amazing too!
Looks like a great night!
Karen looks awesome this days…so happy to see her happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Karen is looking great! Hope she feels good too.
Karens good health and smile bring me SO much joy! XO to you all!
I used to watch Lost and I watched from about the 3rd season to the end. The last couple seasons were little dissapointing though and the season finale was dissapointing, but that’s just my opinion. I really enjoyed the earlier seasons..
Weekend mornings on the couch watching television series are my favorite! I hope you enjoy Lost. We got into it right as it ended and caught up in like 2 weeks, no lie! Alcatraz just started and has some of the same writers… or producers… something.
I especially love photos from when you entertain…. always so cozy looking.
Is it weird that I actually felt like I could smell Karen’s lasagna through my computer screen? It looks so dang tasty. Thanks for the picture, I think I’ll make it my new background pic so whenever I turn on my computer I’ll be taken into a Lasagna wonderland.
Have a great Sunday! What’s for dinner tonight?
looks like an awesome weekend!!!
That picture of Matt looking at the snow is hilarious! It looks cold there. I hope y’all can stay huddled up and warm!*
There’s just something about live music that’s so so great.
It’s a snowy wonderland here too! That breakfast looks so warm and comforting.
Karen is looking fabulous!!
mmm that veggie lasagna looks delicious! I could definitely go for some right now with this chilly weather! Enjoy your Sunday
That lasagna looks delicious! We had a dusting of snow yesterday (3-4 inches) but now it’s all melting into slush. Bo and I love starting tv series together and watching them all the way through. To date, our favorite was West Wing!
Ha! I made Karen’s Vegetable Lasagna for the first time last night, as well! It was a huge hit!
Thanks, as always for the motivation and inspiration.
So glad to hear that!
Nice! I have got my husband hooked on “The Walking Dead” and after watching season 1 until 2:40 AM, he said to me today we would watch season two all day today if football wasn’t on. So sweet =)
Kath– have you thought about doing another Opensky promo featuring the YUMbutters? Or even another one with the Chia Chargers and maybe including a few of the other flavors? I love when you do Opensky promos with nut butters that are based off of smaller, not as well-known companies and I sure did love the Chia Charger promo! yumm
I have mentioned them, but not sure if they’ll fly. There are a lot of “rules” about products – meaning the company has to agree to the sale and things. We also can’t really combine flavors (I’ve been asking to do that for 2 years!) because orders are drop-shipped from the manufacturer – but I will mention a combo pack!
I love the winter pictures! A light dusting makes the world so beautiful!
YAH snow. I think it’s so pretty!
Mmm I swear I could take french press coffee through an IV
I need to make veggie lasagna sometime. It sounds so good!

We love Mark West…glad you like it as well!
Good music, coffee, delicious oats and snow…that’s my recipe for an amazing weekend.
…I’m jealous.
love the last pic with the snow/ice covered greenery in the background!
Karen looks FABULOUS!!! My Mom just had her hysterectomy and Karen has been SO sweet checking in with me often to see how all is going! She truly looks glowing
