It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the same house with a bowl of M&Ms. We had lots of fun playing together today!
And the candied nuts and I are bosom buddies too!
Our Christmas Eve started with a light make-your-own-sandwich dinner before church
A little pumpkin home brew for me
My sandwich was a whole wheat pita stuffed with hummus, tomato, lettuce, and a big pickle!
One per side
Plus a couple of ruffles. Kerfuffled.
We dressed up and bundled up to walk to church for the candlelight service. Matt and I enjoyed harmonizing to hymns and always the candlelit close with Silent Night. An unexpected surprise occurred when Matt Allen’s dad had a wreath from the balcony land on his head. He was a little hurt, but he’s doing OK now. I think it scared our two pews more than anything!
Back home, we set out the traditional Christmas Eve party
The Menu, handwritten by my dad!
We had a whole spread of late-night foods
I wasn’t in too much of an eating mood, so I focused on the balls: bourbons, buckeyes, and now-chocolate doughballs. (And M&Ms!) Sadly, my doughballs are super dry and are no longer doughy. So sad. On Christmas!
With a glass of bourbon spiked nog!
Tonight wasn’t that much different from the past 3 years!
Rudi’s waiting for Santa – hope he pays a visit to you!

Everything looks so much fun to eat!
Merry Christmas x 3!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! I made Mama Peas PB Dough Balls and mine were a little dry as well. They were definitely tastiest right out of the oven. After a few days, try popping them in the microwave just before eating and they taste doughy and perfect in the center again.
That looks so nice and homey, Kath! Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas! The pic of you and Matt looking at each other is so cute!

Candied nuts were the death of me last night. Actually, I was in complete Heaven with them
Even though I’m stuffed to the brim right now, I wish I had some of those balls right now!

You are sooooo aware of how many calories you’re eating, which is a good thing, but you should really let loose once in a while. You’re constantly making excuses as to why you’ve eaten certain things, and all I think when I read your blog is chill out. Life is too short to be so preoccupied. Hope you can let go of that sometime.
