It’s A Growler

December 14, 2009

Woo hoo!

The exam was HARD. I think we were all blown outta the water a bit. It was not consistent with our other tests or material. Yet, I still think I did fairly well. Fairly being the key word :)

I got a big coffee from Panera at 8:30 and then snacked on a few dried peaches before the test at 11:30. I was hungry for a snack, but I knew I could just take it and be home for lunch in an hour or so.

An hour turned into two, but I survived with just a very loud growling stomach :) ROAR!

This lunch sure hit the spot!

Hummus, spinach, mustard, pickles(!!!) and hot sauce on Whole Grain Goodness. I just re-stocked our pickle stash that had been missing for months. LOVE pickle crunch on sandwiches!

I ate lunch with the TV in view and a show called "My Fair Wedding." I used to watch wedding shows ALL the time before my own. I haven’t watched in over 2.5 years! It was fun :)

Afternoon plans:

  • Clear my mind
  • Read
  • TV?
  • Veg
  • Answer a million emails
  • Think of something to make for dinner (Thanks for the help on Twitter guys!)

I’ll get back to business tomorrow. I need a detox from Metabolism!

Sounds like a nice afternoon!
Love your flowered plate. From Pier 1? I have some large ones with the same pattern.

At least the test is over and done with, right 😉 I’m taking a test in January that I’m already stressing about!

10 Liz December 14, 2009 at 3:22 pm

So jealous of your baker husband – your bread always looks amazing! Hummus + veggies sandwiches are the best :-)

13 Chelsea December 14, 2009 at 3:31 pm

What? You’ve gone without pickles for months?!?! You are one strong girl! How many more tests do you have until you are DONE?!?!?

14 VeggieGirl December 14, 2009 at 3:32 pm

So glad you made it through the exam! Would you like to come take mine? 😉

15 Estela @ Weekly Bite December 14, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I know you did great on the exam!

My O-chem professor did the same thing.

Enjoy your “free” afternoon :)

16 amber December 14, 2009 at 3:33 pm

17 Julie @savvyeats December 14, 2009 at 3:35 pm

First: I loved your Gather post this morning!

Second: I love Great Harvest bread, and wish there was a Great Harvest in Madison!

18 Siobhan December 14, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Congrats on being done with your exams Kath! I have one more on Thursday and then I’m done (until next semester!). Enjoy vegging out!

19 MQ December 14, 2009 at 4:02 pm

Unrelated to this post, but I wanted to say I just found out that there’s a Great Harvest 2 miles from where I live!!! I was so excited when I heard this, and now I can’t wait to go check it out =)

21 Krissy (Single Serving) December 14, 2009 at 4:04 pm

I love those Reindeer mugs and such from Pottery Barn. Vixen or Blitzen are my faves! Yay for being done with exams! Congratulations!

22 Lisa @bakebikeblog December 14, 2009 at 4:05 pm

oooh and great looking lunch :)

23 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg December 14, 2009 at 4:06 pm

Mmmmm….nothing is better than a big, fat SAMMICH when you’re starving! :-)

Congrats on finishing! Take a load off!

24 Simply Life December 14, 2009 at 4:11 pm

thanks for the reminder that I miss pickles! :) i haven’t bought them in so long and never think to when I’m at the store but they look yummy!

25 Lauren December 14, 2009 at 4:27 pm

I’m sure you did great on your exam. It never ceases to amaze me how organized and proactive you are with your schoolwork. I am a HUGE procrastinator with mine. I would love to see a post sometime with some of your organization and study tips for students.

26 Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope December 14, 2009 at 4:35 pm

Augh, sorry to hear the test was hard, but at least it’s behind you now! Can you believe I’ve never tried a pickle sandwich before either??? I feel so left out. 😉

27 amanda December 14, 2009 at 4:39 pm

I love pickles on a sandwich too! Yummm!! Enjoy your time off tonight. :)

28 Karla December 14, 2009 at 4:49 pm

I just turned in a statistic paper! I sort of can’t believe I actually wrote an empirical paper but my plans are pretty similar to yours for the afternoon. The only difference is I plan on going to see New Moon once again because as a grad student you have to question your maturity with cheesy films from time to time.

29 Meagan December 14, 2009 at 4:49 pm

I’m sure you did fantastic on your exam…
& I love eating lunch late when I’m really hungry becuse it tastes so delicious!

30 Katie December 14, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Even though the test was hard I bet you are relieved!

33 K December 14, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Gah! Trying to get through a hard exam with a grumbly stomach is one of the worst things ever. I’m sure you nailed your exam though!! I love the sounds of that sandwich combo.

34 bec December 14, 2009 at 5:36 pm

hope you had a great afternoon of relaxation!

35 Wendy December 14, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Haha, my kids say “yo-grit”!

Just wait, when you’re expecting a baby, you’ll be watching all the baby shows on TLC & Discovery. 😛

Enjoy your hard-earned break!!

36 Kath December 14, 2009 at 7:04 pm

Been there, done that! I was OBSESSED with A Baby Story when I was in HIGH SCHOOL!! LOL. I’m sure it will come around full circle in the coming years :)

37 Emily Eats and Exercises December 14, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Sandwich looks yummy. I haven’t had pickles in ages, but maybe I need to re-try them.

38 Meg @ be fit be full December 14, 2009 at 6:05 pm

My mouth just watered when I saw your pickles. Mmmm…. Congrats on being done your exam!

39 Jil December 14, 2009 at 6:21 pm

I hate when professors do that! I don’t understand the point of throwing students a curveball on such a pivotal exam. I’m glad you think you did pretty well, though! That sandwich looks so good! The bread is calling to me!

40 sarah December 14, 2009 at 6:58 pm

Amen to detoxing from a tough final.. I just took my hardest final of the semester (accounting.. it was the death of me) and I’m definitely taking the night to celebrate! And by celebrate I absolutely mean relaxing and doing NOTHING but curling up in my bed in sweatpants with plenty of trashy tv.

41 lynn (The Actors Diet) December 14, 2009 at 7:02 pm

pickles on sandwiches are the best – you just reminded me i have a jar in the fridge!!!

42 Trena December 14, 2009 at 7:29 pm

I am loving all of your recipes. Thanks for always taking the time to post them. Your blog is so inspiring for me and I am continuously revamping my diet with healthier options.

I know that you don’t normally eat meat (as do I), but I struggle with trying to get enough protein. So, I was wondering, is that why you usually put hummus on your sandwiches instead of a meat protein? I know the Chobani is loaded with protein. Do you try to usually supplement with something like that?

43 Kath December 14, 2009 at 7:32 pm

We don’t buy much deli meat simply because it’s expensive and goes bad fast. Yogurt lasts for months on the other hand! Between the bread, hummus and yogurt in this lunch, there is more than enough protein. You really don’t need as much as you would think! And there’s probably more in your means than you’d think too. The scrambled egg sandwich from yesterday is a good deli meat alternative. So are mashed beans and tempeh/tofu on sandwiches (just put them on raw!)

44 Jenna December 14, 2009 at 9:51 pm

sandwich looks delishhh

45 Sabina December 15, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Just remember, it’s always how you did *relative* to everyone else in the class. Marks are always bell-curved (at least, that’s how things were when I was in school). Good luck!
