I Need A Mary Poppins Carpet Bag

January 7, 2011

I swear it zips! I swear!! You just have to sit on it!

I am checking a bag, but since I am coming home 10 days sooner than Matt, I get the duffle bag while he gets the big suitcase. Still, I overflowed a few things from my bag to his ;) I’ll be wearing my big boots and down coat, and we’ve got two little Tide packets to do a load of laundry at our hotel mid-way through.

Packing wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I am still determined to be the most organized traveler in the sky! We’ll see how that goes ;) Should be better with my rolling briefcase [which has yet to be packed!]

Matt and I set out on a run before lunch. What I love most about runs is they are so quick. No driving to the gym. No equipment transitions. Just running. We set out on an unspecified route and ended up covering 6.9 miles!

When we returned, major foam rolling and yoga tuna balling was necessary. My quads and IT bands are SO tight and knotted!

Matt heated up lunch while I showered

A glorious mix of leftover soup – spiked with broccoli and beans – and pretzels, which I just love.

This clam chowder was one of the best soups we’ve ever made. Make it again!

Palate cleanser: mint tea and peppermint bark.

Girl I don’t know how you’re doing a duffel even with washing clothes. It’s Montana, I’d bring nothing but hoodies and super thick sweaters! haha

I loved peppermint bark this holiday season, for the first time. It’s delicious!

I love adding broccoli or brussel sprouts to my soups and stews. It adds a pop of color and a bang of fresh nutrition!!

I love adding “extras” to bulk up soup the next day. Broccoli is one of my favorite add-ins (..as is bacon…)!

First, pretzels in oatmeal. Next, pretzels in soup. You have some awesome ideas for pretzels! I used to think they were only for snacking on!

That is an amazing packing job – I would have packed a huge suitcase for that amount of time.

Great run!

You and me both– my quads and hamstrings are shot due to biking and running! When I don’t have a yoga class to attend, I just do some quick Exercise on TV yoga or stretch myself :-)
Love your dishtowels and dishes!

You amaze me with your ability to put together substantial meals, even right before going out of town for a week+! My fridge and pantry are barren when I am in town and my meals as of late have been lacking. Teach me your ways!

I’m jealous that you’re going to Montana, I thought it was so pretty there. Although, I was there in June and I might change my mind after feeling a Montana winter!

A Mary Poppins bag?? I think that’s been one-upped by Hermione and her undetectable extension charm. You never know when you might need a tent :)

40 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table January 7, 2011 at 5:39 pm

you should have gotten the big suitcase anyway. women’s need trump that of the men-folk wieh it comes to packing – no matter the situation. :)

safe travels!

I know exactly what you mean when you say going on a run doesn’t really take any extra prep… you just get out the door and go! Love that about running.

Hope you stay warm in Montana! Enjoy the scenery :)
