I had plans to walk to Great Harvest today, but then the skies opened up and it poured while I was out and so I just pulled my car in and brought my newly purchased cottage cheese into the bakery fridge for safe holding.
Matt and I had lunch together – big sandwiches on our new Country French (part rye, part whole wheat, part white). Cheddar + veggies for me!
Some sandwiches were bigger than others…
Plus half a bag of chips. Karen Monson has got me addicted to chips!
For second lunch I tasted the brand new Morning Glory Muffins. 100% whole wheat with carrots, coconut, pineapple and raisins, they are FABULOUS! I stole one for tomorrow’s breakfast!
Back at home and prepping for my call in a bit. We are on day #3 of total cloud cover and I would really like to see the sun again!!

I want those muffins! I may have to try to recreate them at home
That sandwich is pretty much the exact example of why I got into baking
HI!!
Oooh– I would LOVE to try that muffin! So many of my favorite things in there.
I just got rained on as I walked from class to the library. Guess who was wearing a cute dress and no umbrella?
oh no
Those muffins look epic! I want one!
That country French looks fantabulous~so thick and fluffy lookin’. Biting into GH’s breads is like walking on clouds, hah!
I would love to try one of those muffins. All my favorite things in one bite, yum.
I dream of bread too! Kath, I wanted to ask you something, I was diagnosed last Friday with peptic ulcer
you being a RD do you have any recommendations on what foods to eat and what to avoid? I eat 90% organic, lots of fruits and veggies, very healthy, indulge in moderation, I don’t drink alcohol and don’t smoke, I would appreciatte your advice! Thank you!
Sorry to hear that
I would defer to your doctor since I really shouldn’t give medical or dietary advice on the internet. I’m sure he/she would give you some recommendations?
Sure, I have an appoitment next week and he will let me know!! Thanks for responding to me!!
I sent our icky weather to you because I was getting envious of your beautiful weather! Thanks for the trade
Booo!
I made Morning Glory muffins last night! And I took them in to the bakery where I work today, and the manager said a client wants her to make them regularly. They stay so moist and tasty with all the fruit in them. Do yours have apples in them?
No, I don’t think so. Some applesauce maybe?
They DO have apples and applesauce!
My father-in-law makes something similar with shredded carrot, raisins, walnuts, and chunks of apple. He dropped a couple off over the weekend, and I need to get his recipe, because they were great.
Love that your bakery is doing a 100% whole wheat muffin, Kath!
I LOVE morning glory muffins!!! YUMMY!
our local GH makes the morning glory muffins and they are my absolute FAVORITE! i, too, dream of bread quite often!
I’m with you. I’m over the gloom here in Atlanta. I need some sunshine and I fear that’s not happening for awhile. Lunch looks perfectly delicious!
Those muffins sound delicious!!
Those morning glory muffins sound delicious!! Hope the rain stays away!
The muffins look amazing, as does Matt’s sandwich! I used to want to be a baker when I was little… and that’s precisely one of the reasons why – sammies the size of yer head!
Ooh those Morning Glory muffins sound amazing!! Yum.
That sandwich sounds yummy!! Love a good piece of bread
That bread sounds amazing!
We have had cloudy skies for days now, too. The sun has peeked for a minute or two here and there but I would love to have a sunny, blue sky day.
Your bakery goodies always look SO GOOD! I’m just dying for a sandwich like that. You should send Matt to Spokane to give the GH here some ideas!
I hope you get some sun soon. Sitting here as the rain rolls in and missing the sun in my area too!
hey kath,
i was browsing your twitter and found some annoying/rude (but slightly funny) faux twitter accounts for other members of your fam. all i have to say is, haters gotta hate. any idea who these juvenile bozos are?
i don’t comment that much, but i’m a loyal reader for two years now. i read many of your posts as i’m eating my own lunch, so it feels like i’m eating with a friend!
best,
Amy
Don’t feed the trolls
I love that you call your mother in law out for the chips. Never a good sign to call somebody by their first and last name!!!
I actually saw those Route 11 chips the other day at a grocery store call Reid’s in Charlotte and I almost picked them up. It took me a minute why I suddenly felt compelled to get them and then I realized they were the ones you kept saying were so good! Haha. I held off because we were getting ready to go out to dinner so chips weren’t really necessary, but I’m definitely going back for some soon!
All that bread!!! I want some!
Love the name Morning Glory Muffins!
Morning Glory Muffins make for a glorious day…hopefully that will be the case for you when you enjoy yours at breakfast tomorrow! They look so yummy! Crispy on top and moist in the middle…oh my!
So is it bad that I secretly harbor jealous feelings towards Matt for being able to eat copious amounts of bread and yet stay so slim??? I eat 2 pieces of bread and they immediately show up on my thighs LOL Not to mention I’m gluten sensitive
Do you guys make gluten free bread? I know our Great Harvest in Annapolis does but I haven’t gotten there to try it yet.
Hi Kath,
I just tried to check your twitter profile for a link and noticed I wasn’t following you, but when I tried to refollow you it told me I couldn’t because the user had blocked me? What’s up with that?
It’s probably because you’re following someone who mocks me or my family. If that was a mistake, I can unblock
I don’t think I’m following anyone like that.. it’s caileighyoung on Twitter if you’d like to check for yourself though. I’d appreciate being unblocked!
Unblocked. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.
OMG that bread looks amazing!
Your bread always looks so yummy. jealousssss!
I don’t dream of bread, but I do dream of chocolate
rt. 11 chips are freaking AMAZING. pickle chips are da bomb. i used to live in middletown, va.
rt. 11 also used to live in middletown, va before expanding. let me tell you how wonderful it is to smell chips being cooked in the morning. wow. thank goodness i found a place where i live now that carries their product. oh. the sweet potato chips are also pretty darn ridiculous!!
We’re having almost sunless weather here in NJ. I’m getting pretty tired of it!
Big sammies — and on new bread, to boot. YUM!
I love that there are carrots in those muffins! Matt does like to sneak veggies into food, which is a good thing
I believe the sun is in the forecast for tomorrow and Friday–YAY!!!
