Happy Mother’s Day!

Here’s my Mother’s Day Gift of 1986 –

IMG_5930 (1024x768)

This year I got mom a brightly colored tote bag and the most priceless gift ever: leftover wedding cake that I brought home on 3 different highways packed in ice from last weekend’s wedding :)

Last night Ducky, Lillian and I had a party in my old room!

This morning I was up at 6:30 to go for a run around Hillsborough.  The “mode” button trick didn’t work on the Garmin – it did jump the screen, but then the pace feature didn’t work. So I’m not sure of my exact mileage, but it was probably about 4.5.

Midway through the run, having spent too much time with Ducky, I learned to FLY!!! I tripped on a loose brick and flew through the air. Luckily my blue ribbon in elementary school agility tests kept me injury free, but it was scary!

After running I made mom breakfast! Barney Butter (which she requested) on Great Harvest Cinnamon Raisin Walnut buns. And Duke plates!

I had half a bun with banana and BB

IMG_5927 (1024x768)

Plus a Weight Watchers Boston Cream Pie yogurt with some almonds + strawberries. The yogurt was just OK – too gelatinized from the fat replacers and too sweet!

With tea – good old Lipton!

Off to find OP!

Cute old school present ;) My favorite was the spray painted macaroni covered cardboard picture frame (circa 1985)…. my mom still has it on her dresser!

Tell Oprah I say hi! :)

Aw, I love those handprint gifts! My mom still has one of mine, made out of clay and heavily painted with pink tempera paint and glitter. Have a blast today!

That is such an adorable Mother’s Day present. I love how mom’s save those things forever! :)

I agree with you on the Weight Watcher’s yogurt. I’ve tried it a couple of times and just never could get used to the taste. It does remind me a bit of jello!

Have an amazing time today! Can’t wait to hear about it!

Ahh get a picture with Oprah!!

I have tripped twice while running … once I skinned up my hand pretty badly and the other time just got a little scrape on my knee. I definitely tend to zone out, which is usually awesome, but not with uneven sidewalks!!

That’s so sweet that you still have your old room. I think my parents transformed my room about twenty minutes after I loved out- to make sure I didn’t move back in.

Too cute! I didn’t do much for my mom in 1986…I was 2 years old :-) But for Mother’s Day in ’84 I was nice to her and decided to enter this world 3 weeks early so she wouldn’t have to be pregnant anymore AND so she’d be a mom by Mother’s Day.

Have a great day! I hear ya on the yogurt thing…I just can’t do the overly sweet varities anymore (which is crazy since I have such a sweet tooth!)

My mom got so many handprint Mother’s Day presents, I don’t think she knew quite what to do with them! The duckie is so cute. :) I don’t like Weight Watcher’s yogurt either…doesn’t seem like “real” yogurt to me. :/ Have a great Mother’s Day!

This SO looks like what I do when I go home to my parents’ house. I’ve got my old pal “Harry the Bear” (who, BTW, is a girl…I was so creative with my naming convention when I was 3!), and my mom has got a set of University of Texas china…that’s her alma mater even though I’m the one who lives in Austin. And let me just say that Duke blue china is WAY easier on the eyes than Univerisity of Texas burnt orange!!! ;)

I love gifts like that.

Looks like you and your Mom had a great morning!

Tripping like that is definitely scary! There’s always that moment when your heart just jumps, you know? I’m glad you weren’t injured.

Aww, I think it’s a requirement in most states that all kindergarten students MUST make handprints for their mothers.

I use mapmyrun dot com when I run to see how far a route is. I don’t have a garmin for runs, and this website is free and lets you map out your run…plus you can measure how far you go, whether its on a bike path, the beach, or an open field. Happy Running!

The Weight Watchers yogurt is pretty bad when you’re used to the good stuff.

Your cat is so cute!
