Hot Wheels

September 3, 2012

SUPER excited about the gift that came in the mail from Mark [Matt’s dad] and Cheryl!! We won’t be able to use it for a few months until the baby is older, but I can hardly wait! It’s soooooooo smooth to push! Matt put it together after we went on a long walk this morning. Up and down hills and things. Some bouncing on the curbs. No contractions to report yet…

Wholesome lunch followed

Big salad with hard boiled egg, avocado, bacon, tomato and goat cheese – all the best!

Served with a side of Cheddar Garlic

And a pile of grapes

We watched two episodes of Mad Men. Sure is gloomy outside here! Thinking of doing some reading next. I’m procrastinating writing my 40 weeks BERF post – it was one I was hoping not to write!

Come on baby KERF! :)

2 Angie September 3, 2012 at 3:02 pm

We got the car seat attachment for our BOB. Still have 3 weeks until baby comes though. I can’t wait to use it though. Hoping your baby comes soon!

3 j3nn September 3, 2012 at 3:02 pm

What a gorgeous stroller! Congrats :)

Salad looks AWESOME! All the great stuff.

4 Erin September 3, 2012 at 3:04 pm

I love my Bob! They make an infant carseat adapter for the Chicco Keyfit and the Graco Snugride. It’s clips right in and my little girl has loved going on walks since she was 2 weeks. Hope baby decides to show up soon!

5 Emily September 3, 2012 at 3:42 pm

Yep! We have the adapter too!

6 Michelle (Peachy Palate) September 3, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Ooh they look like some good grapes! When I saw hot wheels I thought it was hot wheels to the hospital!

7 Molly @ RDexposed September 3, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Is it too early to start bribing a child? If not, bribe that baby out!

8 KathEats September 3, 2012 at 3:09 pm

9 lynn @ the actor's diet September 3, 2012 at 3:09 pm

glad you’re getting into Mad Men. i miss having a show to binge on!

10 Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac September 3, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I’m jealous that you’re just starting Mad Men, it’s one of my all time favorite shows!!! I can’t wait for Season 6! Sending good thoughts your way for a day of labor!! :)

11 Caroline September 3, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Would it be weird to say when I say the title i envisioned you being rushed to a hospital in a speeding car while in labor? 😉

12 Lindsey @ Pas de Deux September 3, 2012 at 3:44 pm

I am so anxious FOR YOU! I can’t even imagine what it must feel like to just be waiting for Baby KERF to decide he’s ready. But in the meantime, Mad Men is a wonderful distraction! Love that show!

13 Katelyn September 3, 2012 at 3:44 pm

Those are some SERIOUS stroller wheels. Love them lady!! Can’t wait for news that the baby is coming — crossing my fingers for you two!!

14 Tanja September 3, 2012 at 3:46 pm

Dear Kath,

I am following your blog since a few months now, started a bit before you launched the baby announcement, looking for healthy recipes and found a lot more.

From far away, me and all your other followers share the thrill with you of getting your first child. Thanks for sharing. I hope you don’t have to wait for too long anymore.

All the best to you and your family from Munich, Germany,

15 KathEats September 3, 2012 at 3:48 pm

Thanks for your note Tanja!!

I love my BOB- and Jackson is only 11 days old! …..You can use it sooner if you buy the inserts that support baby’s head and such- the kind you buy to put in a car-seat to add protection and stability for a newborn’s head- I bought mine at Target……. Not saying I’d jog with my super newborn on a country road but I can use it to take long walks and such! You’re going to love it!!!!

17 Kristen @ The Balanced Bowl September 3, 2012 at 3:51 pm

I have a confession to make….I still enjoy looking at your food photos but I am finding myself now checking your site three times a day waiting for an announcement – or to see a skipped post and excitedly assume your little boy decided to arrive!!!!

18 Logan September 3, 2012 at 4:03 pm

I gave birth to my first and only 21+ years ago and I didn’t think she would ever come. They finally made her come 14 days past her due date. At least you won’t have to wait that long since they don’t let you go that far these days. Can’t wait to see that you have your new addition in your arms! I’m praying for you to go into labor naturally instead of having to be induced.

19 j September 3, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I’m a long time reader who rarely comments but I want to wish you a speedy & relatively pain free labor! Both my kids were early & as weird as it sounds, I feel like I missed out on the anticipation & wondering that you are going through. It won’t be long now!

20 Ali @ Peaches and Football September 3, 2012 at 4:16 pm

What a terrific gift! I can see that getting a TON of use over the years and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about the BOB strollers.

21 Kristi September 3, 2012 at 4:45 pm

Go BOB! My MIL bought ours for us a few weeks ago on sale at REI. Baby isn’t due til Christmas but it was fun to push through the parking lot to the car! My husband wanted Orange for his beloved Hokies. We call it the baby chariot!

22 Bobbi S. September 3, 2012 at 4:47 pm

I LOVE my BOB. I have the revolution se duallie. It’s been the best investment I’ve ever made!

23 Averie @ Averie Cooks September 3, 2012 at 4:55 pm

We’ve had our BOB for 6 years and still going strong and we’re pushing a 5 year old around in it now. When we go on long runs or hikes there’s no way she can walk that far so she hops in when she’s tired, closes the canopy and laughs at herself for riding but admits, it’s a super comfy ride. Enjoy it! We’ve put AT LEAST 5000 miles on ours. Probably 10,000 if I stop to do the math over 6 years…

24 Lisa @ bakebikeblog September 3, 2012 at 5:23 pm

yay what an awesome gift!!!

25 Cait's Plate September 3, 2012 at 5:33 pm

My sister loves her B.O.B stroller! You will definitely get some good use out of that thing.

That salad looks amazing – and I just put “red grapes” on my grocery list thanks to this post!

26 Katie @ Peace Love & Oats September 3, 2012 at 5:39 pm

Very cool stroller! Those look like some off-roading wheels! Haha

27 Tiffany September 3, 2012 at 5:45 pm

I am eagerly awaiting your labor post :) Hope the baby arrives when both of you are ready.

I finally decided to give overnight oats in a jar a try! I wanted to ask which is better…fruit put in the jar at night or in the morning?

Also, how come your jars always look like they are filled up at least 3/4 of the way up? Mine does not even look halfway full (I used 1/3c of all the ingredients).

Thanks Kath!

28 KathEats September 3, 2012 at 6:07 pm

I like at night… less to do in the am!

And maybe my jars are just smaller? Or the fruit bulks it up?

29 Tiffany September 3, 2012 at 6:11 pm

I think it might be the fruit that bulks it up because my jars are the same brand (TJ’s sunflower butter).

30 McKenzie Morgan September 3, 2012 at 5:52 pm

Isn’t the cut off 10 days late before they induce labor? I’m just wondering. How long has it been (I can’t do math) since your due date?

31 KathEats September 3, 2012 at 6:02 pm

Should be 42 weeks…14 days. That’s what ACOG recommends.

32 Christine September 3, 2012 at 5:59 pm

LOVE your stroller!! You are so lucky. I am sure that it is going to get a ton of use with how much you exercise. My babies always loved going on stroller rides.

33 donna September 3, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Ahhhhh, I was so hoping you’d labor on Labor Day! But the day is still young. 5 more hours to go! I can’t wait to see the little baker. Nothing sweeter than a baby boy! (I am fortunate enough to be the mother of two boys.)

34 jennifer g September 3, 2012 at 6:08 pm

Get the adapter for the car seat, this way you can get strolling in that awesome stroller sooner!! That’s what we did and I was so happy to have only 1 stroller.
Best of luck with the little one, I hope he comes soon!!

35 Mom September 3, 2012 at 6:16 pm

Can’t wait to push Baby Younger-Monson in the Bob. Or are you calling the stroller “Robert?”

36 Jenica September 3, 2012 at 6:21 pm

That salad looks divine. And it’s not too late yet for labor on labor day!

37 Sarah September 3, 2012 at 6:34 pm

You should ask Cappellino’s for a refund on the Lemon Drop Cupcake :D. You’re not woman # 125, after all. So excited for you, though – it must be hard to still have to wait longer for the baby, right?

38 KathEats September 3, 2012 at 6:48 pm

They give you one on the house! I bought #2 : )

39 Elizabeth September 3, 2012 at 7:16 pm

Aw, I’m dying for the BOB! I hear such great things, I’m hoping one comes in to my local consignment shop :)

40 andrea September 3, 2012 at 7:18 pm

The good news is it will be quite soon and baby will arrive. It’s hard to wait though, so exciting. I remember towards the end of both of my pregnancies -so much going through my mind! My babies were both born a little early – 2wks for one, and 1 week for the other, so I never got to the watch the calendar mode. Keep walking, he will be here soon!!

41 Emily @ September 3, 2012 at 7:25 pm

Great stroller-can’t wait to hear about that sweet little baby!!!

42 mary @ minutespermile September 3, 2012 at 7:27 pm

nice wheels! grapes make the best dessert.

43 Angel7 September 3, 2012 at 7:40 pm

I love that stroller! It will be easy to push when you want to run!

44 Liz September 3, 2012 at 8:06 pm

I keep checking for labor updates! Can’t imagine how you are feeling if we are all on the edge of our seats. I bet you can’t wait to meet that little boy!

45 Amy Wiginton September 3, 2012 at 8:23 pm

LOVE our BOB. We have had it for 9 years and used it for 4 kids and it still looks and works like its brand new. That stroller saved my sanity through some very long winter days. Would push 2 little ones in a nice long run, as they were all bundled up, and it was our main outing for the day. Still use it for 2 year old…

I am so bummed for you that baby is still not here. These are THE LONGEST days ever. I remember well. Hoping he decides to come sooner rather than later….I cant believe there’s no signs?!!!?

Hang in there :) You won’t be pregnant for life…it just feels that way!

46 Denise September 3, 2012 at 8:34 pm

Can’t wait to hear that baby KERF has arrived. My first daughter was born on her due date and the second one was two weeks late. I know it’s hard waiting, but the anticipation that is building will make your delivery all the more welcome and exciting. It won’t be long now, hang in there!

47 Christina @ The Beautiful Balance September 3, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Aw I can’t wait until you can use it, I am so excited for you.

48 Melissa September 3, 2012 at 9:20 pm

We got so much use from our stroller – we had to replace tires at a local bike shop a few times because they were worn out. In hindsight, we wish we had put an odometer on the stroller to see how many miles ir saw. We estimate at least 10 miles every week, on average, for five years! It would have been great to see the real number. You shout attach one!

49 Kristin k September 3, 2012 at 11:41 pm

BOBs are so great! I switched from a BabyTrend to BOB and totally think it was a great investment. The quality is worth it! And the car seat attachment should make it easier for you to use early on :)

50 Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy September 4, 2012 at 4:27 am

Hurry up baby!! Wishing you well :)

51 Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count September 4, 2012 at 5:49 am

Your salad looks so good!

52 Lindsay September 4, 2012 at 7:50 am

We absolutely love our bob! Especially with all the walking you two do! It glides over bumps effortlessly! Reading on my iPad right now and your chilled cluster picture is double down each side and the sidebars are overlapping the post. Don’t know what’s going on.

53 KathEats September 4, 2012 at 7:53 am

Generally with apple products that means you need to clear the cache? It has worked on iphones a plenty
